Chapter 191: The Dungeon
Rosina sighed deeply as she went to her room on the first floor. Even though she hated that place, it was the only thing that made her comfortable at that moment.
"Ah, what am I doing?" Rosina whispered before sliding onto the floor. She hugged herself and placed her head above her knees. She didn’t know what to do.
"Ah, this mate thing is taking me away from my original goal!" Rosina exclaimed with hatred. She stood up and patted her cheeks.
"Wake up now! No need to become a weak b^tch," Rosina comforted herself before touching her necklace’s pendant. She drew out blood and planned to continue her plans when there was a knock on the door.
"Who is it?" Rosina called out and opened the door to see Cirino smiling at her. "Hello, is there something wrong?" she asked, hiding her blooded finger.
"Ah, I saw you walking in this direction, so I followed you. Did you see Bertrando? He went to the forest last night, and he wasn’t able to come back to his tent. I’m a bit worried that something might have happened to him," Cirino stated with worry in his voice. He checked Bertrando’s tent earlier. It was empty and cold, which indicated that he wasn’t able to sleep in it.
"Ah, he’s with Draco upstairs," Rosina smiled and was about to close the door, but Cirino stopped her.
"Since we are here. I want to say something," Cirino stated with an awkward laugh. He scratched his head while preparing his speech.
"Okay, what is it?" Rosina faked a smile. She was also curious about what Cirino was about to say.
"Well, you see. I notice that you and Draco aren’t acting like a mate. There seems to have a visible barrier between the two of you," Cirino stated and watched as Rosina’s face hardened.
"Ah, we’ll we are still at war. Everything is tight," Rosina replied flatly. She wasn’t surprised that Cirino noticed the atmosphere between her and Draco, but she didn’t like that Cirino was prying into her relationship.
"I see, but I’m not trying to get into your relationship. I’m just stating what I have observed for quite some time," Cirino raised both hands in surrender since he noticed Rosina’s aura changed.
"Ah, before you go. I won’t be around for three days. I let you and Draco prepare for your next plan," Rosina smiled as Cirino nodded in understanding.
Rosina closed the door with a sigh. She waited for Cirino to walk away before she continued what she had started. She put blood into the pendant and imagined the Palace.
A hole appeared on the floor, and Rosina jumped into the portal that would lead her to the location. When she arrived, she hid in one of the empty rooms and changed her appearance. She needed to appear as a servant to walk freely.
Rosina looked at herself in the mirror and massaged her muscles, aiming for them to change shape. She watched herself go from another face in a short time.
"Ah, it’s done," Rosina muttered before changing her clothes into a servant uniform and going out. For the time she had stayed in the Palace, she had memorized the faces and clothes most people wear in certain places for future purposes.
Rosina passed several servants and attendants working around, and they ignored her. Some took glances but didn’t pay attention. She turned to the corner and moved toward the Queen’s chamber.
On the outside, she could see two women standing on both sides of the door.
’They were part of the Queen’s minions,’ Rosina thought before standing in front of them. The two women looked at Rosina with curious glances.
"What is the purpose of your visit?" one of the ladies stated firmly.
Rosina lowered her head in submission. "I’m here to deliver the letter from the Palecrest pack," she stated.
The two women looked at one another before opening the door and letting Rosina inside.
Rosina made her body smaller and leaned forward to make it look like she was scared to meet a Monarch of the second highest position.
"Your Majesty," Rosina whispered and bowed lower than 90 degrees. "I have the letter from the Palecrest pack," she said while pulling out the letter she had made from her pocket.
Cinzia, the Queen, glanced at her. She was working on several papers and signing the documents of agreement.
"Put them here," Cinzia stated and gestured at the side table using her head. She didn’t pay attention to Rosina since she had thought she was only one of the new Palace servants.
"Yes, Your Highness," Rosina said softly before following the Queen’s instructions. When she walked past through, her eyes glanced at the documents and saw the names of each pack.
"What are you looking at?" Cinzia muttered when she saw Rosina’s eyes shift toward her.
"I-I’m sorry, Your Majesty," Rosina stated and knelt on the ground to show submission. "I’m only curious. I don’t intend to pry."
Cinzia rolled her eyes before flicking her fingers. The sound made the two women outside enter the room and go in front of the Queen.
"Bring this peasant to the cell. Deal with her," Cinzia stated without remorse as she returned to do her job.
"Yes, Your Majesty, the Queen," the two women bowed before grabbing Rosina’s arms and dragging her outside.
"Your Majesty, I meant no harm! Please!" Rosina screamed while trying to escape the women’s grasp as an act to show that she was scared. Although, she was concerned that she was sent to the cells for that small action she made.
Cinzia rolled her eyes and ignored Rosina’s whines. The door closed in front of Rosina’s face as she was dragged toward the cells.
Rosina stopped whining and let the two women drag her, letting her body lose all its strength, which made her body heavier. The two women looked at Rosina with annoyance but didn’t say anything.
’I wonder where’s Sal,’ Rosina thought before closing her eyes. She went to connect the link from her to Sal and see through her eyes, but all she could catch was darkness. She was confused at that sight, but she was glad Sal was still alive.
’I’ll search for her later,’ Rosina thought with a sigh.
After a few minutes, they arrived at the cells in the underground of the Palace. It was dark and damp, but what irritated Rosina the most was the smell of feces and piss mixed together.
"There you go, b^tch," one of the women sneered and threw Rosina inside the cell. Both of them glared at Rosina before going outside and locking the dungeon.
Rosina groaned and sat on the cold floor. It was the first time she was in the Palace dungeon. She remembered the Queen’s statement about the dungeon and the people imprisoned inside.
"I’m finally here," Rosina whispered and pinched her nose to prevent the smell from killing her nostrils. She adjusted her eyes to see in the darkness and saw multiple prisoners trapped in each cell.
Its the first time Rosina saw how big and wide the dungeon was inside, and they were cramped. She looked back and saw that she had a cellmate, an old lady who looked like she hadn’t taken a bath for a year.
Rosina looked around and unconsciously burned her hands on the silver bars, but that didn’t bother her.
"Sit down, child," a weak voice stated. It comes from Rosina’s cellmate.
"I don’t plan to stay here for long," Rosina replied and smiled at the woman. She placed her hand outside and touched the lock where the key went through.
"You can’t escape this hell hole," the woman replied. Her voice sounded flat, and she had no hope for life.
"Ah, yes," Rosina nodded. She didn’t want to argue with the woman since she had other things to do. She inserted her pinky finger into the lock and let her skin and bones molded inside.
Rosina groaned in pain while twisting her finger as it molded the key. The door clicked open.
"Ah, so easy," Rosina grinned and opened the door, stepping outside with a smile of victory. She looked back at her cellmate and gestured for her to go out but to her surprise. The old woman shook her head and kept leaning against the wall.
"I thought you want to escape?" Rosina asked in curiosity.
"Yes, but what life will await me outside? I have nothing left out there," the old woman replied sadly and lay on the cold floor.
"Alright, your choice," Rosina shrugged and closed the door, but she didn’t lock it. After all, she had a plan in mind.
Rosina started walking in the hallway to check the prisoners when her eyes caught someone familiar.
"Sal?" Rosina whispered with a raised eyebrow when she saw Sal lying on the floor with her clothes ripped apart and showing most part of her skin.
