Chapter 188: The Cook for Mate

Chapter 188: The Cook for Mate

Rosina stared at the small compartment on the floor, hidden from everyone’s eyes.

"I see," Rosina couldn’t help but chuckle. Inside that space was a medium size box that was covered with old pieces of clothes. She took the box and was surprised by its weight.

"It’s heavy," Rosina commented with delight. She had a good feeling about the box. She hurriedly opened the lid that was already unlocked.

Bright, golden light almost blinded Rosina upon opening the box. Piles of gold coins stacked together made Rosina sigh in relief.

"I’ve finally found you," Rosina stated and closed the lid. She was amused at how the money was under her nose all along.

Rosina took the box as she went out of the room. She planned to give it to Draco since the money would be used to improve the pack’s needs, especially since they needed to prepare for the upcoming war with the other packs.

"Ah," Rosina stopped in her tracks as she placed her hand on her chest. She felt tight when thinking she would face Draco after their interaction and how she dismissed him.

"It’s fine. Why are you feeling this way? You’re a bad, f^cking b^tch," Rosina stated to herself and patted both her cheeks to wake her up in reality. She felt that she had gotten softer and felt the emotions that she had killed before.

Rosina felt vulnerable.

"I’ll be fine as long as I get away from him. After this war, I can finally attain my peace," Rosina whispered and comforted herself by thinking that she could return to the everyday life she used to know before becoming involved with the royal family.

Rosina took a deep breath before getting out of the pack house and saw the 13th pack wolves building tents outside even though they could sleep on the spare beds in the pack house.

When Draco saw Rosina going towards them. His smile reached his ears. He didn’t care how Rosina treated him earlier. For him, as long as Rosina was by his side, he was fine dealing with her personality.

"Rosina, the food is ready. You can take your lunch," Draco smiled and ushered Rosina to an empty seat in front of the firewood where the food was being cooked. Around her was Bertrando and Cirino.

Rosina sat down with the box in hand. She saw the curious glances they gave her.

"Here, take this. Use it well," Rosina stated and handed the box to Draco, who groaned at the unexpected weight.

"What is this?" Draco asked and stared at the box when he noticed the familiar patterns engraved on the lock. "This is from Sabrecrown," he stated with wide eyes.

"Yes, the Palace gave funds to the packs in preparation for the war with the 13th pack," Rosina stated, taking the bowl to scoop the soup from the pot.

Draco’s eyebrows furrowed as he sat before Rosina and opened the box. He immediately closed it after seeing the stacks of golden coins.

"I still don’t understand why the Palace prepared so much. The 13th pack is still a single pack consisting of rogues, but they are acting as if we’re a large community," Cirino sighed. He waited for Rosina to finish taking her portion before he took one for himself.

"Well, the knights lost several times. They are being cautious about securing victory," Draco replied. He wasn’t ashamed that he was part of the troops that had previously lost against the 13th pack’s warriors.

Cirino laughed while shaking his head. He was amused at how Draco said those words without hurting his pride as the leader of the knights.

"I bet the Palace place a reward for the pack that will be successful at acquiring the 13th pack," Draco chuckled since he had known about the schemes the Palace would do to get what they wanted.

"Yes," Rosina nodded, but she didn’t say what it was. She took a sip of the soup and hummed as it tasted good. "This is tasty."

"Thanks," Draco smirked, indicating that he was the one who cooked it.

Rosina looked at him with wide eyes. She didn’t know what to say, so she ignored him and continued eating.

Bertrando and Cirino looked at one another and remained silent since they didn’t want to comment on their relationship. Still, they noticed that Rosina kept her barrier strong while Draco was trying to come inside and connect with her.

"I did ask the chef back in my residence to teach me how to cook. So I can cook for my mate, and that is you, Rosina," Draco added with a huge smile that showed his pearly, white teeth.

Rosina near choked on the soup she was slurping upon hearing what Draco said. She felt her skin crawl with cringiness.

"Okay, it tastes good," Rosina stated flatly and forced a smile to stop Draco from saying more sentences that would give her goosebumps.

"That’s good. I cook for Tonia several times too, but she wants me to eat her own food," Cirino sighed. He remembered several fights he had with Tonia, his mate, because he wanted to cook for her, but she had other plans.

"Ah, I need to learn how to cook and spoil my future mate, too," Bertrando stated and stirred the pot, acting as if he was cooking.

Rosina watched as the three men conversed and laughed with one another, making the atmosphere light. She couldn’t help but smile since the feeling was calming her as if war didn’t break out earlier.

"Ah, I can’t wait to have my mate in my arms," Bertrando stated lovingly and acted like he was hugging someone in his arms. The two men laughed since Bertrando looked like an idiot.

By that Rosina’s mood changed when she met Draco’s eyes. She could see the longing and adoration. She knew Draco was a womanizer before, but the more she spent time with him, the more she noticed that he was no longer that kind of man.
