Chapter 177: The Girl Carrying A Bundle of Cloth

Rosina pulled the black hood of her robe to cover her face. She glanced back at the Castle with a sad smile before she walked away.

"Ah, this feels unbearable," Rosina whispered to herself as she walked into the vast forest of the 13th pack. It was too early in the morning that most wolves were asleep in their chambers.

The mists were thick and foggy in the forest, making it hard for Rosina to see, but she continued walking in a specific direction where her memories started rising in her brain.

The path became familiar, and the tight feeling in her chest made her breath rigid.

"I hate this," Rosina sighed deeply before stopping. She looked up at the massive tree before her. "I see. You’re still standing."

Rosina looked at the tree with a bitter expression. It was the tree where she stepped on a trap, which led her to the 13th pack when she was young. She took a step forward with her arms extended and touched the tree trunk.

"Ah!" Rosina gasped when the memories she had locked inside her brain got broken. Multiple images flashed into her eyes like a kaleidoscope that swirled in different colors of events.

Rosina’s eyes shook, and she would have nearly fallen to the ground if she didn’t hold tightly to the tree for support.

"How are you feeling?" a child-like voice stated softly.

Rosina snapped at the source of the voice and saw a small girl standing before her. She was wearing a tattered black dress that had many holes in it.

The girl had pale white skin that looked like she had bathed in milk. The black bags under her eyes matched the color of her irises. She had tangled short hair and had few bald patches on her head, but the fiery auburn hair strands stood out the most.

"Who are you?" Rosina asked while squinting her eyes since the fog made it hard for her to see the girl’s face clearly.

"Come with me," the girl stated without answering Rosina’s question. She turned around and started walking without waiting for Rosina to follow her.

Rosina stood there hesitating if she would follow the girl or not, but due to her curiosity. She came after the girl.

"Where are we going?" Rosina asked, but she was still ignored. She looked around and noticed they were going in the Palecrest pack’s direction, but the girl shifted to the right side, where an inhabited area was located.

It was a portion of the forest that lay between the 12th and 13th packs, separating them.

Rosina’s heart beat loudly the more they ventured inside the area. She looked up and barely saw the sky due to the thick leaves covering the place.

"I haven’t been here," Rosina whispered and looked in front but saw that the girl was nowhere to be found. She gaped around and walked a few steps. It took a while before she saw the girl standing from afar.

"Hey!" Rosina shouted when a thick mist blurred her vision. She walked faster, waving her arms around since the mists were irritating her, but when she arrived at the location. The girl was nowhere to be found.

"Where is she?" Rosina sighed in annoyance with her hands placed on her hips. She stared at the tree in front that was similar to the other trees, except the trunk had a metal graving attached inside.

Rosina looked closer, and she got curious. Her hand unconsciously extracted her claws and started digging into the trunk to see what was written on the gravestone.

"Oh goddess," Rosina panted before pulling the gravestone out of the trunk, which led her to fall to the ground, b^tt first.

"Ugh, that hurts," Rosina groaned and put the gravestone on the side since it was heavy. She dusted herself before looking at what was written.

Rosina furrowed her eyebrow since no name and date of death were indicated. There was only a phrase written in the middle.

"You are my favorite mistake," Rosina read the sentence with a furrowed eyebrow. Her eyes glanced below the ground she was stepping into.

Something inside Rosina told her to dig it up, and she didn’t hesitate to follow her gut. She knelt on the ground and started digging, using her claws to break the soil.

It took her more than 30 minutes before her claws hit something.

"There it is," Rosina whispered and wiped the soil that covered the box. She had expected that there would be an adult-sized coffin, but it was smaller.

Rosina wasn’t afraid of death since she had lived through it for years. She took a deep breath before carefully lifting the tight lid to see who was inside.

For Rosina, the girl took her there for a reason, and she wanted to know what it was.

"Ah..." Rosina gasped with her eyes wide in surprise. Inside the coffin was a skeleton of a child.

Rosina’s hand trembled, causing her to drop the lid. She covered her mouth in shock as she took a step back.

"N-no.... Stop!" Rosina grasped her hair and went away from the grave in an attempt to escape reality.

"Where are you going?" the girl’s voice echoed in the forest, making Rosina stop and look back at her.

"You! What did you do to me!" Rosina shouted while grasping her hair since the pain was unbearable. She saw the girl carrying a bundle of cloth in her arms.

"Don’t you remember us?" the girl stated and showed Rosina what she was carrying. A lifeless fetus drenched in blood was inside the cloth.

Rosina’s body shook as she took a step back. She didn’t know what to do but to run away from the girl. Tears streamed down Rosina’s eyes, making her unable to see her surroundings clearly.

"Ack!" Rosina yelped when she tripped on the tree root, causing her to fall hard on the ground, and she bumped her head on the rock.
