Chapter 174: The Child in Her Womb
Rosina stood by her office window and overlooked the werewolves below her. After their talk during breakfast, Bertrando and Cirino immediately moved to apply Rosina’s rules to the pack.
But what disrupted Rosina’s thoughts were the feelings she had for Draco. She wanted to call Vanda for the suggestion, but she didn’t want to disturb her.
A knock on the door brought Rosina back to reality. She fixed herself before letting the person inside.
"Come in," Rosina stated and sat on the sofa.
Draco entered with a smile. He was fully dressed and had a black coat on the side. He walked toward Rosina and kissed the top of her head to show affection.
Rosina froze but let Draco kiss her.
"How are you?" Draco asked softly. He noticed that Rosina looked troubled and thought it was about the war with the Sabrecrown.
"I’m fine, but I need to make a plan to counterattack the Palace once they start their move," Rosina stated and showed Draco the folder containing the Palace plan she copied for hours.
"You have written them all!?" Draco exclaimed in surprise. He looked at Rosina with wide eyes at her diligence and patience in doing it. If it was him, he would memorize them instead since he was too lazy to write them down.
"Of course," Rosina smirked with pride. She opened the folder and showed Draco the plan. "Is this the same with the King and Gastone’s conversation regarding the invasion?"
Draco hummed and looked at the words. His attention was focused on Rosina’s handwriting, which was neat and clean.
"Draco?" Rosina asked with a furrowed eyebrow when Draco didn’t reply for a few seconds.
"Ah, yes, but there are some changes. I guess this is their final plan, but how did you manage to get hold of a copy?" Draco asked in curiosity. Even he had yet to see the final plan.
Rosina opened her mouth, but she closed it shut. She didn’t want Draco to know she was Rosalina since she wanted to keep her other identity safe. She still planned to go back to the Sabrecrown.
"With the help of someone," Rosina replied flatly, which made Draco more curious to know who it was.
"Alright," Draco didn’t push further, but that got him thinking about who Rosina had a connection with inside the Palace since it was not an easy job to access private files from the Monarch.
"Let’s get back to the topic," Rosina stated and cleared her throat. She looked at Draco and pushed the folder toward him since she had already read the content.
"They will have their first attack set next week," Rosina stated and pointed at the pattern below. "The troops from the other packs are grouped together, and the first one to attack is from the Palecrest pack."
"Your parent’s pack," Draco muttered and looked at Rosina to see her reaction. He expected her to be troubled since it was her family, but he saw a menacing smirk on her lips.
"This is a perfect opportunity," Rosina whispered and looked at Draco with a murderous look.
"What do you mean?" Draco asked with a curious gaze.
"I thought you knew things about me?" Rosina stated with a raised eyebrow. Since Draco told her that he knew about her sex life. She expected him to dwell deeper into her history.
Draco pursed his lips before releasing a chuckle. "Well, what I heard about you is the usual gossip surrounding your name, but I find them untrue," he said with a shrug.
"That I’m a weak wolf?" Rosina shook her head in amusement. It always entertained her the gossip that kept resurfacing, especially that she married Draco, but she shrugged it off.
"Yes, that too, but that gossip has other side stories," Draco cleared his throat to drop the topic since he was careful not to hurt Rosina’s feelings. He stared back at the plan and flipped several pages.
"Tell me," Rosina stated in a serious tone. She had heard multiple gossips and wanted to see what Draco got.
Draco stared at Rosina. He was still hesitant, but he saw that he couldn’t avoid their topic of conversation.
"Well, there has been a circulating gossip that you were pregnant when you were a pup, and that made your parents throw you away to the human city," Draco stated softly while trying to observe Rosina’s reaction to each word he spoke.
"..."
Rosina was speechless. Out of all the buzz around her being chased away from her pack. The one Draco stated hit the spot.
"Rosina, are you okay?" Draco asked when he saw Rosina’s eyes shaking.
"Tell me, where did you hear it?" Rosina asked in a passive tone.
Draco bit his lips. He was fine saying a person’s name if he was unrelated to Rosina.
"Just tell me, Draco," Rosina stood up from her seat and looked at Draco with wide eyes that showed how she was trying to control her emotions.
"Your brother, Rico. We met before the Mating Event started to talk about the pack when he stated that you’re going to participate," Draco explained softly. He held Rosina’s shoulder to calm her down, but she swatted his hands away.
"Continue," Rosina said before walking past Draco and going outside to the terrace to calm herself.
"Rico told me that before pregnancy. You ran away from home to your lover and came back with a child beating inside your womb. They sent you to the human city to cover the truth since it will tarnish the nobility of your family," Draco stated the truth that he had kept for a long time. He didn’t believe it since, for him, everyone could create a story from their own perspective and twist the truth for their own gain.
"I see. Thank you for telling me this," Rosina stated and sighed deeply. She had forgotten about her family on the day she married Draco, but her rage woke up, and it doubled.
