Chapter 173: The Plans Under the New Leadership
Rosina woke up from the light coming from the window. She rubbed her eyes and yawned since she was still sleepy and very comfortable in bed. She didn’t want to leave and face the plans and problems waiting for her outside.
Rosina lifted her head and saw Draco’s happy sleeping face as he breathed slowly. She slept in Draco’s chest most of the night, and the feeling was blissful.
’I like to stay this way for long,’ Rosina unconsciously thought and snuggled closer to him. She closed her eyes in comfort until her brain processed what she had felt.
’F^ck!’ Rosina thought in shock and sat up, grasping her hair in the process. ’I can’t get attached to him even though he’s my mate!’
Rosina flipped the covers to get out when she saw Draco’s thighs, which had visible white scars.
For werewolves, their inner wolf helped heal any kind of wounds in the human body to stay alive. The damages wouldn’t have any scars after it healed, but it was a different story about deep wounds.
White, slightly visible scars would appear after healing deep wounds in the body since it took a lot of strength and time to seal up the cut.
Rosina’s mouth hung open, and she looked closely at the white scars on several parts of Draco’s thighs and legs. She never noticed them even though she had seen Draco’s naked body.
"Who hurt you?" Rosina whispered and couldn’t help but trace the scars on Draco’s skin. Since Rosina had a terrible past on her own, she understood that Draco had his share.
Although Rosina didn’t expect someone to hurt a pup from the royal family, knowing Queen Cinzia wanted Draco’s head on a silver platter proved that there was atrociousness behind the royal’s glamorous life they showed to the public.
"I don’t remember," Draco replied in a hoarse voice as he looked at Rosina with a smile. "Good morning, beautiful."
"Good morning," Rosina forced a smile and retracted her hands from Draco’s skin. Hearing Draco’s words, Rosina concluded that he was young when the abuse happened, or he was like her, putting the harsh memory at the back of her head and locking it temporarily.
"We should eat breakfast. I need to discuss the pack matters with Bertrando and Cirino later," Rosina stated and took another robe to cover herself.
"Alright," Draco nodded and wore a shirt before they went to the bathroom and cleaned their faces before going out. Unlike in the Palace, where servants do most of the cleaning, in the 13th pack’s Castle, you do your own personal hygiene most of the time.
Both of them went out of the room and walked downstairs. They went to the dining room, where Bertrando, Cirino and Tonia were sitting on the other side, waiting for them to arrive.
"Ah! My Queen!" Tonia exclaimed and stood up, followed by the two men behind her. The three of them bowed and greeted Rosina good morning.
They eyed Draco, who was standing beside Rosina. They still needed to learn how to address Draco since Rosina didn’t say a word regarding his status in her life.
They didn’t care if Draco was a Prince or Rosina’s husband in Sabrecrown. If Rosina wouldn’t introduce him, Draco would be nothing but a plane wolf in the 13th pack.
"Good morning, everyone. You must have known Draco, but I’ll introduce him formally," Rosina stated and gestured toward him. "This man is Draco Violante, my..."
Rosina paused. She looked at Draco’s anticipating eyes at what he was in Rosina’s life. She saw Draco’s facial expression screaming that he was her mate even though he remained silent the entire time.
"My..." Rosina opened her mouth to say ’mate’, but no words came out. She found it hard to say the word since it would conclude that she had accepted Draco. She felt the chain start choking her into the mate bond and didn’t like it.
"He’s my husband," Rosina stated quickly to avoid suspicion from them. She gave a fake smile before sitting at the centre.
Draco pulled the chair to help Rosina sit down before going to his spot. He felt good that Rosina introduced him as her husband, but knowing they were still in a contractual marriage made Draco feel that Rosina still didn’t accept him as her mate deep inside.
A servant entered the door and pushed the cart that had the breakfast prepared for them all.
"Ambra," Draco whispered when he saw Ambra wearing servant’s clothes.
Rosina eyed him, but she didn’t ask since it was evident that Draco already knew Ambra’s identity.
Ambra had an emotionless facial expression as she put the food on the table. Rosina’s gaze kept on switching between Draco and Ambra. She knew they were half-siblings with different mothers, but the thought that Ambra was aware of her history with Pepe’s father troubled her.
The painful past with the 13th pack was one of the memories she tried to seal, and thinking that someone knew about it droved Rosina to the edge. She wanted to kill Ambra to keep her past safe from everyone.
Rosina didn’t give a sh^t if Ambra was Draco’s sibling since they weren’t close, but understanding that they knew each other made Rosina halt her plans. She had thought that Ambra and Draco wouldn’t recognize one another.
"My Queen, we should discuss the rules you want to apply in the pack," Bertrando stated and gave Rosina a reassuring smile.
Rosina looked at Bertrando and saw no hint of grieving from Pepe’s death. Although she could see the visible bags under their eyes.
"Yes," Rosina stared at the cooked eggs on her plate. She didn’t think about the changes since she liked how the pack ruled, but there were exceptions.
"First, I would like to end the kidnapping of she-wolves from other packs, and if you see that man that manages the crime, kill him," Rosina stated firmly, and Bertrando nodded, taking notes on a small paper he had brought with him.
"Okay, I will take care of him," Bertrando replied, waiting for the following shifts.
"Hmm, since the ruler in this pack changed overnight. There will be someone who will go against my ruling and won’t accept me as their leader. If they started to voice their opinion, tell them to come to me, but if they went physically violent, kill them," Rosina stated and watched Ambra pour warm milk beside her before proceeding to Bertrando, pouring him a cup of coffee.
"Some wolves were shocked at what had happened, but knowing that Pepe lost against you showed that you are much stronger than him. It’s how the Werewolf’s leadership works," Cirino stated with a smile. He had talked to several pack members about the current situation; some didn’t want to submit to Rosina because she was a noble, but most of all, she was a woman.
It was expected that a male wolf would rule the pack and their wives would support on the side.
"It’s fine," Rosina stated with a shrug. She sipped her warm milk with delight before looking at Draco, who was silently eating his food.
Draco didn’t want to disturb Rosina while she made her plans with the pack. He didn’t want to take the authority from her and adored that she took the highest role with many responsibilities.
Although most male wolves’ egos would be triggered and desired to take the high role from their wives, Draco didn’t care about the society or the norms. He felt proud of Rosina instead.
"What do you plan with the Sabrecrown pack?" Bertrando asked, and he glanced at Draco.
"Well, the Palace still want this pack under their rule, but the Queen has other plans. She wants to kill Draco since he threatens Gastone’s crown, and I’m his wife. So you can see my connection with this problem," Rosina stated and poked the egg yoke. She looked at Ambra, who was standing on the side.
Ambra heard what Rosina stated, and the mention of the Queen made her feel uncomfortable. After all, she didn’t have good memories with Cinzia when she was young, even though she was her mother.
"Do you have something in mind, Draco?" Rosina asked, making sure to involve Draco in their conversation.
"Hmm, for now, the Palace must have thought that my troops and I died during the war since I didn’t report back to them. They will surely send out more knights soon according to the plan that the King made with Gastone," Draco stated firmly. He remembered when he heard Gastone and the King talk about their invasion plan in secrecy without him.
"I see. So they don’t intend to give this pack to us in the first place. They want this pack for their own while making us their pawn to make the job easier," Rosina chuckled with amusement. She was amazed at how the Monarchs, especially Cinzia, the Queen, scheme their way.
