Chapter 164: The Petite She-wolf
Draco ran toward the location where Pepe and Rosina ran off together. He could feel his heart beating faster, concerned that Rosina would be harmed. Behind him were Bertrando and Cirino, who were also looking for Rosina.
"There!" Cirino pointed at the specific location where Rosina’s body was lying naked on the grass. Beside her was Vanda with an orb in her hand.
"Rosina!" Draco exclaimed and ran toward Rosina. He wanted to check on her to see if she was okay, but she was stopped by Vanda’s hand.
"Please, don’t come closer," Vanda stated firmly. She wasn’t afraid of Draco and would protect Rosina at any cost.
"Who are you?" Draco asked. He didn’t like how Vanda was stopping him from seeing his wife.
"You don’t want to know," Vanda stated with a deadpan expression as she placed the black robe she was wearing on top of Rosina’s naked body.
Bertrando stepped forward and knelt on the ground. "Let me assist the Queen to her chamber."
Vanda pursed her lips and held Bertrando’s chin up as she looked into his eyes, where she could see his soul. She wanted to know if he was telling the truth or lying about surrendering the pack to Rosina.
"Alright," Vanda nodded after she finished examining Bertrando.
"You allow this man, but not me, her husband!?" Draco exclaimed in disbelief upon hearing Vanda’s words.
Vanda looked Draco in the eye. "You know the reason why."
"What?" Draco shook his head since he couldn’t understand the reason behind Vanda’s statement. He watched as Bertrando lifted Rosina’s unconscious body with him.
"Draco, we only submitted to Queen Rosina, but not to you," Bertrando stated with a glare before passing Draco and walking toward the Castle.
Draco took a deep breath to calm himself. He glanced at Bertrando’s back and the rest of the 13th pack members that were following him.
The knights that were with Draco were the men that he had formed for years. The Palace ordered him to attack the 13th pack without complete preparation and additional troops to aid him in war.
Draco was devastated since it would be another failure, but he was relieved that no knights under the Palace order were with him or the news about what happened would spread like fire.
Cirino walked toward Draco and offered him a hand. "I’m Cirino Endrizzi, the pack’s Delta."
"Draco Violante," he stated and shook Cirino’s hand firmly.
"I know. Let me show you to the Castle. Forgive Bertrando’s behavior. He’s very protective of your wife even though he doesn’t show it," Cirino chuckled and gestured for Draco to come with him. "As for your knights. We’ll prepare tents for them to rest, and the wounded will be treated by our Theta’s."
"Thank you," Draco stated. He was surprised at the act of kindness from Cirino when they used to be enemies. That made him wonder what happened in the 13th pack and Rosina’s involvement in the internal chaos of the pack.
"I know you have many questions. I can answer some, but it’s better to ask your unmarked wife," Cirino stopped walking and faced Draco with disappointment. "Why didn’t you mark, Queen Rosina?"
"..." Draco opened his mouth to answer, but no words came out since he couldn’t say that they were only married through papers and had conditions they needed to follow.
Cirino sighed while shaking his head. "Well, because she’s unmarked. That leads to Pepe’s obsession with her, especially since he feels sparks every time they touch, which he believes they are mates."
"I see," Draco nodded his head in understanding. He couldn’t blame Pepe since he felt sparks when he touched Rosina as well, but he didn’t dare say it out loud.
"Can you tell me what happened before the wedding event took place? I want to know how everything started since I lost track of Rosina when we came back to the Palace, and the next thing I knew, she was already here in a wedding dress," Draco stated as they continued walking to the Castle.
Cirino looked at him. He was hesitant to tell Draco what really happened when Rosina arrived at the throne room in a blink of an eye since it might complicate things.
"Don’t worry. I won’t make it a big deal," Draco added when he saw Cirino’s hesitation. "I just want to know what she was doing all this time."
Cirino looked at Draco with a furrowed eyebrow. That was when he realized Draco was blinded by his wife’s doings.
"Well, I’ll tell you what I saw that day and their conversations, but I don’t know what was on Rosina’s mind when that happened. So if you want to know deeply, you should ask her," Cirino stated with a chuckle.
"Okay, I will," Draco answered sincerely.
Cirino began telling Draco what had happened in the Throne room when Rosina arrived in the 13th pack. When they were done talking, Cirino led Draco into the guest room for him to rest.
Draco sat on the bed with a terrible headache. He was shocked at how Rosina moved and planned what she wanted, which amazed him.
But there was one thing that Draco wanted to know.
"Why does Rosina want the 13th pack for herself?" Draco muttered to himself. He wasn’t naive to think that Rosina was doing it for his sake since they left each other on bad terms, and the fact that she used Mari as a bargain showed that she was serious.
"And Mari is killed by her own mate, Pepe. What a problematic relationship they have, but where is Pepe’s body?" Draco’s eyes bulged open when he realized Pepe’s body wasn’t found back in the forest where Rosina was seen.
"Sh^t!" Draco cursed himself for being unable to notice that Pepe had vanished earlier. He opened the door to get out, but a petite she-wolf greeted him outside.
The she-wolf had golden blonde hair and electric blue eyes, similar to Draco.
"B-brother!" the she-wolf looked at him with wide eyes as tears streamed down her face.
