Chapter 163: The Soul Danced Through the Sky

Pepe’s eyes widened from seeing Mari’s appearance again. He looked around to search for Rosina, but she was nowhere to be found. He shifted into his human form.

"You’re not real!" Pepe shouted and rubbed his eyes in hopes that he was only seeing things, but when he looked again. Mari’s face was inches from his head.

"Why did you kill me? I’m your mate," Rosina whispered, using Mari’s voice. Since she was using Mari’s soul to take her appearance, she could feel Mari’s sadness and resentment for Pepe.

"An Omega won’t become my mate! I’m a King! I deserve someone with a higher status!" Pepe replied while shaking his head. He took a step back to prevent himself from touching Mari.

Rosina felt that Mari’s soul was trying to take over her body. It was one of the disadvantages when you let a soul into your body since they would try to take over control.

Rosina tried her best to suppress Mari inside her, but her hate grew inside, and it suffocated Rosina.

’Princess Rosina, please, let me take control for a while. I want to talk to my mate before I rest in peace.’

Mari’s voice whispered inside Rosina’s mind. She was begging Rosina since she wanted to meet Pepe once more.

Rosina was hesitant since her body was at stake, but she wanted to see what Mari would do to Pepe, which brought her excitement.

’Alright, but after you’re done. Rest in peace with the Moon Goddess,’ Rosina replied inside her, to which Mari agreed.

Rosina closed her eyes and let her soul step back, and pushed Mari forward to control her body.

Mari gasped when she inhaled oxygen for the first time after dying. She looked at Pepe, who was still in shock from seeing her alive.

"I’m your mate," Mari whispered as tears dropped from her eyes. "I waited for you, but you rejected me, and that wasn’t enough. You killed and burnt my body, leaving my ashes for the wind to carry me everywhere."

"You deserve it. You have the audacity to show your face when you’re not even worth one silver coin," Pepe replied with a maniac laugh. His eyes shook as he tried to convince himself that everything wasn’t real and he was only hallucinating.

"You didn’t even try to get to know me," Mari stated with a pained expression. She wanted to be loved by her mate and give him all she could offer.

"You had a thing with that bastard Prince, right? That’s enough for me to know that you’re a sl^t!" Pepe shouted and looked at Mari with disgust. "I don’t even feel h0rny seeing you in a naked form."

Pepe’s words struck pain in Mari’s chest, which Rosina could also feel.

"Yes, I might have a history with Prince Draco, but I didn’t give myself to him. I saved myself for you! My v^rginity is only for you to take, my mate!" Mari screamed with all the emotions she felt. She wanted Pepe to understand her and correct the misunderstanding, but she could see that her own mate was blinded and pushing away the truth because he was obsessed with Rosina.

"You’re a lying b^tch. Trying to justify yourself even after you die is very funny. Tell me where Rosina is, and perhaps I will try to make you a makeshift grave and bring you dried flowers on your death anniversary," Pepe smirked. He thought he was in control and his offer would persuade Mari to accept.

Mari shook her head while wiping her tears. She smiled at Pepe and gave him one last loving gaze.

"You won’t see Princess Rosina again. I have done several wrongdoings to her, which will be my repayment," Mari stated nonchalantly and extended her claws. Her loving eyes turned cold as she looked at Pepe with hate.

"Ha! You said I’m your mate, but you wanted to hurt me! Ironic!" Pepe laughed, but deep inside, he was hurt seeing Mari wanted to fight him in Rosina’s stead. He shrugged the emotions away and focused on the battle.

Mari didn’t reply; she just smiled at Pepe. She waited for him to attack first since she had a plan of her own. She wanted Pepe to feel the emotional pain she felt the day he rejected her.

Pepe ran toward her and aimed at Mari’s neck with his hand, ready to grab her.

Mari stood still on her spot and when Pepe came close, she pushed her body forward and hugged Pepe’s body. She raised her head and whispered in Pepe’s ears.

"I, Mari Sanchez, reject Pepe Allesi as my mate."

Immediately, Pepe felt their bond break; a red string that the Moon Goddess made for two hearts to become one.

The pain of having your mate breaks the bond was similar to being stabbed multiple times in different parts of your body, and the addition of having a deceased mate made it worst for Pepe.

"Ack!" Pepe’s knees weakened as he knelt on the ground. His wolf was whimpering in pain from the rejection.

"What have you done!" Pepe whispered and tried to push his body upward, but he couldn’t. His body slumped to the ground as he was breathing heavily. The blood gushes out from his unhealed wound faster than earlier.

"This way, we will be together," Mari whispered and grabbed Pepe’s face. She leaned and kissed his lips as tears continued streaming down her face. "I will always love you, my mate."

Mari smiled before lying beside Pepe’s dying body. She wrapped her arms around his chest. She had done what she intended to do.

"Mari... I’m sorry," Pepe whispered before touching Mari’s hair. A smile formed on his lips before he took his last breath, and his eyes lost color.

Mari smiled as she closed her eyes. She was finally at peace.

Their souls danced through the sky, where they met with the Moon Goddess in the afterlife.
