Chapter 162: The New Queen’s Battle
Rosina watched Pepe and Draco circle one another while trying to claw each other’s necks. She stepped to the side and leaned against the tree since she didn’t want to leave the place.
’I wonder where Vanda went?’ Rosina thought and looked around when she felt something drop into her head. She looked up and saw Vanda sitting on the branch.
"Come here," Vanda whispered and gestured for Rosina to climb the tree.
Rosina looked around and made sure no one was looking for her before she climbed the tree like a spider. She placed herself next to Vanda, who looked at her with a crunched face.
"What’s the matter?" Rosina asked before taking off her veil and throwing it to the ground.
"You look creepy when you climbed up," Vanda grimaced.
"Thank you," Rosina smiled and sighed deeply before watching the bloodbath below them.
"So, this is your plan?" Vanda asked with an amused look.
"This is my backup plan. I read that Draco’s team will attack this day, which is also supposed to be my wedding day," Rosina replied and watched the fight between Pepe’s beige wolf and Draco’s sword.
"Oh, so this is not an all-out attack?" Vanda nodded with the new information she got.
"Yes, this seems like the Queen’s way of getting rid of Draco," Rosina replied with a sigh. She was amazed at the Queen’s desperation to eliminate everyone threatening Gastone’s crown.
"So, what’s the plan?" Vanda asked since all their previous plans failed and kept on changing.
"I guess we are going to change it again," Rosina stated with a smirk and started untangling the corset on her waist since she didn’t want to ruin the gown.
"Let me guess. You’re going to aid Draco’s team?" Vanda asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes, and take over the 13th pack. The Queen might be celebrating Draco’s death in her chamber right now. I want to see the surprise on her face when her plan failed," Rosina stated before carefully removing the wedding dress and giving it to Vanda. "Take care of that."
"Is that the only reason?" Vanda smirked and took out the orb that contained Mari’s soul.
"Thank you," Rosina took the orb. She broke the glass and inhaled Mari’s soul before jumping to the ground. Her body shifted into Mari’s features in a naked form. She stood behind Draco, where Pepe could see her.
Pepe’s eyes widened in shock when he saw Mari’s body alive. He had made sure to burn her corpse two days ago, and her appearance shook his core.
’What the—’ Pepe thought with his wolf’s eyes widened. That image made him distracted from focusing on Draco’s attacks.
Draco’s sword pierced through Pepe’s chest, but he couldn’t stab his heart.
"Ack!" Pepe puked blood and staggered on his footing. He held Draco’s silver sword to keep it steady since Draco pushed the blade deeper.
"Die!" Draco shouted as he used his force to end Pepe’s life when someone tackled him, which made him let go of his sword. He looked to who it was, and what he saw shocked him.
"Sal!?" Draco exclaimed. He didn’t expect to see Sal on the battlefield because she was not on the list of his troops, and she wasn’t a knight but a servant. "What are you doing here!?"
"I’m here to make sure you’ll die, Prince!" Sal shouted and took a knife behind her, aiming at Draco’s heart.
"This b^tch!" Rosina exclaimed and shifted into her fiery red wolf and bit Sal’s head, taking her away on top of Draco.
Draco was still in shock at the turn of events as he looked at the gigantic red wolf that chewed Sal’s body before vomiting her remains.
Everyone nearby got their eyes on Rosina’s wolf since she was the only one with that color in the entire Werewolf race.
"Ugh!" Pepe groaned from the wound he received that wouldn’t heal since the silver blade pierced him.
’Bertrando!’ Pepe mind-linked his Beta to help him while Draco was still distracted by Rosina’s wolf, but he was ignored. He lifted himself and shifted into his human form.
"Where the heck is he?" Pepe muttered under his breath as he looked around and saw Bertrando with Cirino standing behind him. "You two! Kill that man!" he shouted and pointed at Draco.
Bertrando looked at Cirino as they stepped back while shaking their heads.
"We won’t take orders from you from now on, Pepe. You have crossed the line of the pack’s virtues," Cirino stated with a growl.
"And our pack members are dying because of your incompetence as the King. You prioritized forcing a she-wolf that is not your mate to marry you over preparing the pack for the war. On top of that, you killed your mate due to your obsession with Rosina," Bertrando stated with disappointment.
"Everyone! Stand down!" Cirino shouted and mind-linked all of the pack warriors. "We surrender!"
’Huh?’ Rosina tilted her wolf head in confusion when she heard Cirino’s voice. ’They surrender the pack?’
"You’re a traitor!" Pepe shouted and growled loudly at the two men. His rage skyrocketed when the rest of the pack warriors stopped fighting with the knights.
Draco had signalled his men to stop fighting as well and retreat back since their enemy had already surrendered. They were all looking at the internal war in the 13th pack.
"How dare you betray me!? I’m your King!" Pepe shouted while pointing at himself. He ignored the pain in his chest and the blood that kept on dripping from his flesh.
"You are not our King anymore," Bertrando stated firmly before his eyes shifted toward the red wolf. He began walking, and when he reached Rosina’s wolf, he knelt on the ground and showed submissiveness.
"We surrender to you, Rosina. You will be our ruler and the Queen of this pack," Bertrando stated. Everyone knelt one by one as a sign of submission and acceptance to their new leader.
"You think that woman is enough to rule this pack? She’s a she-wolf! She’s only useful in the bed where her legs are spread apart!" Pepe shouted, ensuring everyone could hear how he downgraded Rosina’s gender.
Pepe expected his fellow men would understand and go to his side, but it was the opposite. They looked at him, even the knights, with distaste at how he viewed a she-wolf’s worth.
"You’re really a piece of sh^t," Draco stated at how he spoke ill toward Rosina. He walked toward Pepe to punch him, but Rosina’s growl caught his attention.
Draco’s eyes widened when he knew that the red wolf was Rosina all along. He didn’t expect her wolf to be in a rare color.
"Rosina?" Draco muttered as he stood up in shock.
Rosina ignored him as her focus was on Bertrando. She could see the sincerity and loyalty in their eyes, but the battle wasn’t over yet.
Seeing that everyone submitted themselves to Rosina made Pepe’s blood boil. He couldn’t accept the fact that he wasn’t a King anymore. He forced himself to shift into his wolf form and attacked Rosina.
Pepe’s wolf aimed for Rosina’s neck to kill her, but she easily evaded his attack since he was already weak and dying from blood loss.
Rosina didn’t want to kill Pepe and wanted him to live his life, but she also needed to defend her life from him. She bared her fangs and growled loudly as they circled one another.
Everyone stepped back since two wolves would fight for one spot, and no one could interfere.
"Rosina!" Draco called out and took his sword where Pepe dropped it, but Bertrando’s hand stopped him.
"It’s their fight. Don’t interfere if you respect your wife," Bertrando stated and glared at Draco.
Draco gritted his teeth before lowering his sword and looking at Rosina. He nodded at her and waited for the final outcome of their battle.
Pepe launched and aimed at Rosina’s legs to lessen her mobility and didn’t stop even though Rosina kept evading his attacks.
’Should I really kill this man?’ Rosina thought before her eyes glanced at Vanda, who was sitting on the tree branch and enjoying the battle.
Rosina looked around at the wolves. Their eyes bore at them without blinking. She stepped back and ran through the forest where no one was in sight.
Pepe chased her behind. He thought that Rosina was scared of him since, for him, he was more potent and more significant compared to her.
Rosina glanced back with a smirk when Pepe followed her since it was her plan. She stopped running and shifted into her human form, but in Mari’s appearance.
When Rosina came out behind the tree, Pepe staggered backwards since he faced his dead mate whom he burnt personally.
’M-mari!’ Pepe thought in disbelief as he shook his head in case he hallucinated.
"My love, why did you kill me?" Rosina whispered, using Mari’s voice in order to play with Pepe’s mind.
