Chapter 159: The Voice in the Corner
Rosina cracked her head on both sides as she stretched her aching body. She had been in the Castle’s cell for two days without food or water.
"Are we really staying here?" Vanda pouted against the darkness. She was placed beside Rosina’s cell and has been unable to get a good night’s sleep due to the cold, hard floor.
"Do you want to leave?" Rosina whispered and lay back on the straw mat to get more sleep since she was conserving her energy.
"No," Vanda answered with a deep sigh. "But it’s getting boring. That man should get his sh^t together and come here to entertain us."
"Yeah, I wonder what was happening outside after our little play," Rosina replied and yawned loudly.
There were fewer rogues inside the cells compared to when Rosina arrived at the pack for the first time.
"What happened?" a weak, sickly female voice echoed across Rosina’s cell.
Rosina sat up and looked at where the voice originated. Although wolves could see through the dark, it wasn’t very clear.
"Are you bored too?" Rosina chuckled at the newfound friend in the cell.
"I have been here for years. Yes, I’m quite bored," the voice replied. It was very weak that her words were barely heard.
"Years..." Vanda got interested in the conversation. "You didn’t try to escape?"
"How can I? I have nowhere to go," the voice replied with a light chuckle.
"This is the rogue pack, after all," Vanda sighed and closed her eyes to relax herself.
"Well, since we have nothing to do. We can gossip," Rosina giggled and scooted to the corner to lean her back against the wall. She could hear other wolves of both genders move and anticipated her story.
"I don’t know if any of you heard this, but there will be a war against the 13th pack and the rest of the packs, led by Sabrecrown," Rosina started, and everyone remained silent, which ushered her to continue.
"Then... We found the King’s mate. She was a servant of a noble she-wolf," Rosina continued and coughed when she heard Vanda laugh at how she twisted the story and left several parts.
"Really? He always wanted to find his mate," the voice stated.
Rosina could hear the voice’s delight, which made her curious about who she was.
"Ah... Yes," Rosina’s face palmed to prevent herself from laughing due to how ironic the situation became. "King Pepe adored his mate so much that he took her heart with love."
"He must be pleased," the voice stated with a chuckle. He thought that Rosina’s words weren’t literal events.
"Yeah, his smile is wickedly delightful," Vanda stated on the side, which made Rosina want to smack her.
"But how did you manage to find his mate? It must be tough since she was a noble’s servant," the voice asked.
"Hmm, it was hard with several mental breakdowns, but I managed to hunt her down, and thanks to her, I got the wonderful blessing of seeing the bond in the wolf’s eye," Rosina stated sarcastically, referring to how she went through to activate her new power to see a vision of someone’s mate, which led her to know she was a mate to three male wolves.
"I find it hard to understand what you’re saying, but it’s nice to hear that she’s a great she-wolf. She will become a great Queen," the voice stated lowly. "Now, I can rest in peace."
Rosina furrowed her eyebrows. She focused her hearing sense to detect the prisoner’s heartbeat, and she noticed the she-wolf she was talking to had a very slow heartbeat that was getting close to death.
"Don’t rest in peace yet. I’ve not finished with my story," Rosina’s voice rose, which gathered the prisoner’s attention.
"Go on."
Rosina was about to speak in words that wouldn’t make her say what exactly happened when she heard several footsteps approaching the cells.
"Well, let me tell you these sentences that are easier to understand, but say no words if the King arrived here," Rosina stated in a hurry. She was listening to the footsteps and dangling keys from outside.
"I got a f^cking vision curse to find the King’s mate, but when I do, he took her heart, literally. He squeezed it with his bare hands and put me behind bars. How wonderful, right?" Rosina chuckled and patted the dust from her robe.
"What!?" the voice exclaimed in shock and disbelief. "I don’t want to believe such lies. Pepe isn’t like that."
"I’m not saying you’ll believe me," Rosina shrugged, glanced at Vanda’s side, and whispered. "They’re here."
The door burst open, letting the light in.
Pepe entered the cell, along with Bertrando and Cirino behind him. He stopped before Rosina’s cell and put the torch on the side to look at her form.
"How are you?" Pepe asked nonchalantly.
"What do you think?" Rosina shrugged and gestured around her. She didn’t want to answer any stup^d questions from Pepe.
"How about you?" Rosina asked with a yawn.
"Have you thought about your answer?" Pepe stated firmly and didn’t remove his gaze from Rosina.
"Huh?" Rosina furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. She didn’t know what Pepe meant by his question.
"You!" Pepe growled in annoyance when he realized Rosina didn’t care enough to think about what he had stated two days ago.
"Screw this! I will marry you whether you like it or not!" Pepe shouted before turning around to leave.
Cirino looked at Rosina with pity before turning around and following Pepe behind.
"I guess that man doesn’t handle rejection quite well," Vanda commented on the side.
"Pepe... He wants you to become his bride?" the voice asked, and she sounded concerned.
"Yes, he’s too obsessed with the idea that I’m his mate," Rosina chuckled while shaking her head. She wasn’t afraid since she knew their marriage wouldn’t be legalized since she was still Draco’s wife in the papers.
"No, this is not happening. The past repeat itself, and doom will befall us!" the voice exclaimed, and she started crying loudly.
