Chapter 158: The Pierced Heart

The door burst open, and Bertrando Neri, the 13th pack’s Beta, arrived at the throne room in a hurry.

"Bertrando!" Cirino called for him. He mind-linked Bertrando earlier so he could give his suggestion for the given problem they were currently facing.

"My King!" Bertrando lowered his head in respect and glanced at Rosina. "My Queen."

"I’m not Pepe’s Queen anymore," Rosina grinned and gestured toward Mari’s form. "She is."

Bertrando’s eyes squinted as he examined Mari’s aura and noticed that she was a weak and fragile wolf. The opposite of Rosina. He was already seeing Rosina as a delicate wolf, and knowing that Mari was even more feeble irked him.

Rosina bit her lips to stop herself from laughing. She sensed that Bertrando was disappointed in Mari.

"Will this be enough?" Rosina stated and kept patting Mari’s head. "If you reject my offer. I will take away your mate, and you’ll never see her again."

"You!" Cirino growled. "You can’t take away someone’s mate like that!"

"I can," Rosina replied and looked into Pepe’s eyes. "Give the pack’s orders in my hand, and I will give you this she-wolf. Don’t worry, I won’t kill you, but there will be a change of plans for the war."

All of the wolf’s eyes gazed at Pepe, who was still silent as he thought about the pros and cons.

"My King, there is only one mate in your entire life. Finding your other half in this wretch realm is 1%. You shouldn’t let her go," Bertrando stated and knelt on the floor beside Cirino.

Pepe sighed deeply. "Tell me, Rosina. Why do you want to get this pack under your control? Does your husband force you to do this?"

"No, this is my own decision since I have my own plans," Rosina replied. She was starting to get impatient while Vanda was enjoying herself.

"I see. Do you all agree that I will sacrifice this pack and give the authority to Rosina?" Pepe looked at his men, waiting for their answer.

"Yes, My King!" Everyone exclaimed and knelt on the floor with their head lowered.

Pepe took a deep breath and nodded his head. He began to walk toward Rosina and fixed his gaze on Mari. He stopped a few steps across them.

Vanda immediately moved behind Rosina as protection if Pepe tried to harm her.

"Mari," Pepe spoke Mari’s name in a flat tone.

"Y-yes," Mari whispered as she sniffed Pepe’s scent. Her face showed that she was already fascinated with Pepe.

"Let me hold her," Pepe stated and glanced at Rosina with sincere eyes.

"No, you won’t have her until you surrender the pack in my hands," Rosina smirked and gestured at Pepe’s crown.

Pepe’s face hardened, and they looked at Mari. He glanced at his pack members, especially his Beta and Delta, whose faces showed delight that he had found his mate.

"Okay," Pepe stated firmly and glared at Rosina. He found it hard to give the pack to a she-wolf that his father slept with. "I will give you the rights of this pack...."

Pepe stepped forward, reached his hand toward Mari’s cheeks, and caressed her skin. He instantly felt the sparks between the two of them.

"Mate," Mari whispered and leaned into Pepe’s hand. She looked at him with a loving gaze, but all she received was his cold stare.

"But this woman isn’t worth the bargain," Pepe stated with a menacing voice as he stared at Rosina. At the same time, Pepe extended his claws and pierced Mari’s chest, taking out her heart.

"What the f^ck is wrong with you!?" Rosina exclaimed and took a step back. She stared at Pepe holding Mari’s beating heart with wide eyes of disbelief.

"That’s your mate!" Vanda shouted and grabbed Mari’s dead body on the floor. Even though they used Mari as bait to get the 13th pack, they didn’t expect her to be killed by her own mate.

"Mate? That weakling? The Moon Goddess must have mistakenly given me an Omega as a mate while I’m a King!" Pepe shouted with a maniac smile. His action surprised his own pack members that they couldn’t utter a word due to shock.

"I am a King! I deserve someone that matches my status!" Pepe shouted with anger. He felt insulted that Mari was an Omega and was ashamed to introduce her to the pack as their Queen.

"You monster!" Vanda growled and let go of Mari’s body.

Rosina grabbed Vanda and pulled her behind. She didn’t want Vanda to interfere with her problems.

"You wanted this pack, right? Why don’t you marry me, become my real queen, and rule beside me? We will conquer the whole Werewolf realm together," Pepe’s voice softened as he squeezed Mari’s heart and dropped it to the floor. He extended his bloody hand for Rosina to accept.

Rosina glanced at Mari’s lifeless body and Pepe’s insane facial expression.

"You need to pray to the goddess," Rosina stated while shaking her head with amusement.

"Coming from you?" Vanda whispered with an eyebrow raised. She was amused that Rosina was surprised at Pepe’s murder of his mate when she was murdering hundreds of wolves in years.

"Seize them!" Pepe shouted to his men.

The warrior wolves immediately grabbed Vanda and Rosina together, locking them in with silver chains.

"Bring them to the cells. I will enjoy myself soon," Pepe smirked before turning around to leave the throne room.

Bertrando looked at Mari’s dead body with pity, but Cirino was shaking from anger.

Rosina couldn’t help but smile despite failing her initial plan. She felt that what Pepe did would bring an internal negative impact, especially since mates were a big deal in the 13th pack under Pepe’s rule, but he was the one who failed to set an example.

"Are we really going to the cells?" Vanda asked and glanced at Rosina.

"Of course! What’s the fun if we escape, right?" Rosina laughed with amusement, followed by Vanda. The warrior wolves looked at them crazily but ignored their words.
