Chapter 151: The Threat

Cinzia, the Queen, smirked at Sal. She reached the box, took five gold coins, and threw them on the floor.

"That will be your first hiring payment from me," Cinzia smiled with satisfaction upon seeing Sal’s greedy hands pick up the gold coins.

"This is all mine?" Sal muttered in disbelief. She held the gold coins as if it was her babies.

"Yes, and you will earn more every time you do a good job," Cinzia smiled and showed Sal the box that contained all the gold coins. "This will be all yours if you successfully complete the main quest."

"I will do anything you ask, Your Majesty," Sal looked at the box of gold with sparkling eyes. Her saliva dripped from her lips like a mad dog starved for days.

"Great, for now. Your job is to gather information inside the Third Prince’s residence and his mate, Rosina. It will be nice if you have some dogs under you to do the job faster," Cinzia stated with a raised eyebrow while drinking a glass of red wine.

"Yes, I will do my best!" Sal exclaimed and bowed her head on the floor once more.

"Just one more thing, Omega. If one day you decided to switch sides and expose what we talked about here. I will kill you and your family, understood? Don’t ever think of betraying the Queen of this realm," Cinzia stated with her eyes glaring toward Sal, but her lips formed into a smile.

"Yes, Your Majesty. I won’t disappoint you, and remain loyal," Sal whispered, holding the gold coins tightly in her hand.

Cinzia gestured for her men to take Sal away.

The men hit Sal on the back of her head and dragged her outside, placing her in the carriage back to the garden.

Cinzia gestured to another she-wolf behind her. "Keep an eye close to that wolf. If she fails, kill her."

"Yes, Your Majesty," the she-wolf stated before getting out of the room.

"Let’s see how long you will last, Draco," Cinzia muttered to herself before laughing out loud by herself.

Sal woke up the following day with a terrible pain in her head. She groaned and rolled up to see the sunlight burning her eyes.

"Where am I?" Sal muttered and sat up, noticing she was back in the garden. That made her think that what happened last night was only a dream, but five gold coins were found when she touched her pocket.

"It’s real!" Sal exclaimed and hurriedly hid them. She was hyperventilating because she had faced and talked to the Queen, and now, she had a mission to fulfill in order to get another batch of gold coins.

"Sal, what are you doing here?" Fina asked in confusion when she found Sal sitting on the grass.

"Fina, you can’t believe what just happened!" Sal exclaimed excitedly, but Fina held her shoulders to calm her down.

"I would like to hear about that later. First, we need to serve Lady Rosina," Fina smiled and gestured for Sal to go inside the mansion.

"Yes, right," Sal’s excitement turned sour since she would face Rosina, the very noble she was jealous of.

For the next seven days, Sal couldn’t gather any useful information since Fina was the one assisting Rosina most of the time, and she felt like a second lead, hiding behind Fina’s shadow.

That made Sal even more jealous, and she blamed Rosina for having favorites among her servants.

When Fina returned to her chamber, Sal was already waiting inside for her.

"Sal, what are you doing here?" Fina asked in surprise. She didn’t mind Sal in her room since she trusted her.

"Fina, do you want to escape slavery?" Sal stated with a firm expression.

"Huh? What do you mean?" Fina was confused by Sal’s question since she thought they were okay with how things were going.

"Fina, I am tired of being an Omega and a slave to the nobles. I want a better life ahead of me," Sal explained as she stood up and walked in front of Fina.

"I understand your point, but Lady Rosina has been good to us. Our lives changed the moment she was chosen as Prince Draco’s mate," Fina stated with a furrowed eyebrow.

"Don’t you want to own a beautiful dress? To have servants to serve under you?" Sal stated with wide eyes as she imagined herself living like a noble.

Fina didn’t say a word and found it weird that Sal thought like that. She wanted to hear more.

"Fina, work with me," Sal grabbed Fina’s hand and placed one gold coin. "If you help me. I will give you a portion of my earnings since it will be hard for me to work alone."

"What kind of work? Sal, don’t tell me you entered something dangerous?" Fina stated with worry. She wasn’t naive that the Palace life had its downside and many lives had been taken without going public.

"Yes! Ah!... No," Sal stuttered and was confused with her own answer. She shook her head and looked Fina in the eye. "This job is simple. We will only gather information regarding Prince Draco and Lady Rosina. That’s all!"

Sal expected Fina would go with her, but she was disappointed with Fina’s reaction.

Fina removed her hand and took several steps back. She looked at Sal with disbelief that the she-wolf she once knew had changed due to greed.

"You want to betray our masters for gold coins?" Fina stated slowly to emphasize her words.

"Fina, it’s not that I’ll sell them. We are just lowly workers," Sal wanted to validate and decorate the real intention to make Fina come with her, but she was only making it worst.

"No, Sal. I don’t want to betray Lady Rosina. I will remain loyal to her, so please leave. I want to rest," Fina sighed and opened the door for Sal, indicating for her to leave the room.

Sal bit her lips. She didn’t like how Fina rejected her like that, but she didn’t want to beg her to agree. She walked toward the door, but before she was out ultimately, Fina spoke.

"If you harm Lady Rosina. I will be your enemy, Sal," Fina spoke firmly and gazed at Sal with determination to protect Rosina.

Sal growled in reply before proceeding back into her room. She felt betrayed that her friend for years turned around and protected a noble she-wolf whom they had just met. This made Sal aggressive, and she felt her pride had been stepped on.

"I need to get Fina on my side!" Sal whispered while gritting her teeth. She planned to take Fina with her no matter how much it took to feed her pride that she had won.

That was when Sal planned to involve Fina’s family to threaten her. She went into Fina’s house the next day, which was on the Omega part of the Sabrecrown pack.

Fina’s family knew Sal and welcomed her into their home. Sal manipulated Fina’s brother, Enric, to come with her. He was only five years old.

Sal prepared a rented house and shackled Enric in the bedroom with a cloth on his mouth to prevent him from asking for help. She left him and returned to the Palace to continue working as Rosina’s servant.

After three days, Fina went back home and noticed her mother had huge eye bags with a devastating look. She asked what had happened, and her mother told her everything.

"Sal..." Fina muttered Sal’s name with hatred. She rushed back to the Palace to search for Sal, only to find her in her room waiting for Fina to arrive.

"You manipulated my mother and threatened to kill my brother if she reached out to me!? How could you do this? Where is my brother!?" Fina shouted as she couldn’t control her own emotions. She was angry and worried at the same time.

"Don’t worry. I’ve fed your brother every three days to keep him alive, but if you don’t cooperate with me. I will kill him by starvation," Sal smiled wickedly since her plan worked.

Fina grabbed Sal’s shirt and pushed her against the wall, baring her fangs. "Give my brother back!"

"I won’t unless you work with me and finish my quest. Then, I will release your brother, and you will get a bonus from me. Isn’t it great!?" Sal laughed with amusement.

Fina extended her claws in an attempt to kill Sal with her own hands.

"Kill me, and you’ll never see your brother again," Sal smiled at Fina and caressed her cheeks. "It’s not that hard, Fina."

Fina looked at Sal for a couple of seconds before letting her go and took a step back. That indicated that she surrendered.

"Good decision. For now, we need to gather as much information as we can have against Prince Draco and Lady Rosina. After that, we will follow my master’s plan." Sal said with a satisfied smile.

"As long as my brother is safe. I will do what you want, but if I learn that he has suffered. I will kill you myself," Fina threatened, but Sal only laughed at her.
