Chapter 143: The Feeling of Nothingness
Chapter 143: The Feeling of Nothingness
Rosina was breathing heavily after running for a couple of minutes trying to escape the men chasing her.
"What the hell is happening!?" Rosina exclaimed and leaned back on the wall. She was currently hiding in the storage room.
Silvio has been chasing her after she pushed him away from the tight hug. Then he started chasing her, claiming that she was his mate.
Then Gastone appeared behind them with wide, shocked eyes.
"Ugh! This spark seems like a scam!" Rosina exclaimed and face palmed herself. She leaned against the wall and slid on the floor.
"Ah, whatever. I’ll just reject them," Rosina whispered and waited for a couple of minutes before going out since she still needed to keep her job.
Rosina went out and walked toward the kitchen to get some snacks for the servants when she saw a she-wolf with burnt hands.
"What happened?" Rosina asked nonchalantly. The other servants helped the she-wolf and wrapped her hand in a wet cloth.
"I accidentally spill the hot water on my hand," the servant stated.
Rosina looked at the cart; it looked like the servant was about to deliver the food.
"Rosalina, take over her job. Bring the food to the King’s office and served them. Make sure to not disrupt their meeting," the head servant stated firmly.
"Yes, Ma’am," Rosina nodded and pushed the cart, but when she glanced back. The servants had their smirks laced on their lips.
’Their schemes,’ Rosina thought while shaking her head. She didn’t care about their doings since they were helping her move around the Palace without question.
Rosina found the door that leads to the King’s office. The guards stopped her and examined her cart. When they were done, they let her inside, but Rosina’s feet were glued to the floor.
’They’re inside!’ Rosina thought and was hesitant to enter, but the guards opened the door for her.
Rosina closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She pushed the cart inside the room and was greeted by multiple scents.
"Ah, finally! Pour us some tea," Rocco, the King, exclaimed when he saw Rosina.
"Yes, Your Majesty," Rosina bowed and started placing the treats on the table and making the tea in front of them.
Rosina tried her best to ignore the stares of the wolves she didn’t want to meet.
Draco, Gastone, and Silvio were meeting with the King inside the office. Their eyes were following her movements, which made Rosina a bit uncomfortable.
When Rosina was done with the tea preparations, she started pouring each cup, starting with the King and followed by the rest. She stood at the side when she finished her job and wait if they ordered her around.
"Let’s go back to our topic," Rocco cleared his throat. "We can assemble all the 12 packs and form an army, but each pack won’t give us all their forces. The reason is that the 13th pack might try attacking the packs individually to lessen our forces and draw us back."
"I see, then we must focus on Sabrecrown’s army as the front line while making the rest of the warrior wolves the backup troops or bait," Draco stated, giving his suggestion.
"Why do we need to separate the army? We can unite all our forces and attack the 13th pack all at once! They can’t sustain our strength, especially since we had an advantage in numbers this time," Gastone stated with his voice raised.
"It will be hard," Draco disagreed while sipping his tea.
"Why is that?" Gastone was pissed that Draco questioned his plans.
"Brother, I don’t know if you noticed our mind link disappearing. It was already hard for most wolves to communicate with their family. How much more if we tried to communicate with hundreds of wolves?" Draco stated firmly, making everyone groan in silence.
The Werewolves’ mind link was one of the skills used to communicate with their pack mates and their family, but for centuries, the mind link inside the Werewolf realm has begun to get weaker.
The werewolves needed to spare a lot of physical strength to try and mind-link someone miles away from them. Some ended up getting unconscious by forcing themselves.
Currently, most wolves only used their mind-link with their mate and children. Those who were strong and had a higher status could mind-link those near them.
But mind-link was rarely used and wolves prefer to use letters to communicate from afar.
"Tsk, this mind-linking is becoming useless every day," Gastone stated with frustration. "Then we will use a chain of command to the army and set a Captain for each team."
"That is the best way," Rocco sighed and flicked his finger toward Rosina, indicating for her to pour another tea into his cup.
When Rosina stood beside Rocco. He grabbed her arm, pulled her down, and grasped her neck, choking her.
Rosina was about to elongate her claws and kill the King as her instinct kicked in, but she forced herself to stay still. She relaxed her face and acted like she was frightened.
"Y-Your Majesty," Rosina grabbed the King’s hand around her neck and acted like she was in deep pain and couldn’t breathe.
The three men immediately reacted to the King’s actions.
"Father!" Gastone exclaimed, but he didn’t do anything to stop Rocco from suffocating Rosina.
"Father, that she-wolf is my servant," Draco stated nonchalantly and held Rocco’s shoulder, indicating for him to stop.
Rocco glanced at Draco’s calm expression before removing his hand from Rosina’s neck. "No worries, my sons. I only expressed my dominance in this she-wolf. After all, she was listening to our plans."
"I will take care of her," Draco stated and gestured for Rosina to stand back on the side again.
Rosina coughed and staggered to stand up. She walked back to her place and lowered her head. Although that attack from Rocco didn’t affect her physically, it made her pissed.
"Alright! Haha!" Rocco laughed with amusement and gestured for the Princes to sit down. "Now, I remembered something. Where is your wife, Draco?"
Draco’s upper lips twitched at Rocco’s question, but he kept his cool. "She was still out there."
"I see. Have you tried mind-linking her?" Gastone asked in concern, but Draco shook his head.
"I couldn’t connect with her," Draco replied with a saddened smile. "But I already conducted a search party to find her in the forest led by Sir Silvio Locatello."
"Hmm, well then. The meeting is over. We will talk again once all of the plans are finalized. All of you, leave," Rocco grumbled and gestured for them to vacate his office.
Gastone stared at Rosina, but she lowered her head to cover her face. He didn’t say a word and left the room.
"Rosalina, come with me," Draco muttered when he passed by.
Rosina nodded and followed Draco, behind her was Silvio, who kept staring at the back of her head. The three of them walked in silence until they arrived at Draco’s room.
"Your Highness, is there something I could do for you?" Rosina stated with a bow.
"Yes, this man here claimed you are his mate," Draco stated and crossed his arms. Silvio mentioned the spark he felt when he touched Rosina and was eager to know what Rosina felt about it.
Silvio blushed upon hearing what Draco stated. He looked at Rosina’s expression only to see her looking flat.
"I want to ask what do you feel?" Draco added. He found it uncomfortable that Silvio thought Rosina was his mate when she gave him a hand job.
Rosina glanced at Silvio’s hopeful face. She knew how Silvio was attached to the thought of having a mate for life and she didn’t want to ruin it for him.
"Your Highness, I felt nothing. I’m sorry for the confusion," Rosina whispered softly and bowed her head submissively.
Draco glanced at Silvio, who looked broken-hearted. He took a step back and went out of his room to give them space to talk.
"Don’t you feel the spark earlier?" Silvio asked. His voice was soft but desperate.
"I’m sorry, Sir Silvio, but I felt nothing," Rosina repeated and lowered her head once more. "A mere servant doesn’t have the right to be mated to a wolf of high status."
"Screw it!" Silvio yelled in frustration. "Your name is Rosalina, right?"
"Yes, Sir Silvio," Rosina whispered and shook her body to show that she was scared of him.
Silvio noticed the small movement and he felt guilty for raising his voice. He sighed deeply before extending his hand. "Touch my hand. Let’s try again if there’s a spark between us."
Rosina stare at Silvio’s hand, but she couldn’t reject him or it would look suspicious.
"Yes, Sir Silvio," Rosina took off her glove and placed her hand on Silvio.
Upon their skin contact, Silvio felt the spark and he sighed in relief. He doubted himself earlier that he was hallucinating.
"I feel the spark, how about you?" Silvio asked while looking at Rosina with adoration.
"I felt nothing, Sir Silvio," Rosina muttered with her head lowered. She didn’t want to look into Silvio’s eyes since she might have another vision that she couldn’t control.
