Chapter 139: The Loser Retreat
Rosina drank the warm milk with a deep satisfied sigh. Vanda left after their conversation, leaving her alone in the tree branch.
At that moment, the war between the rogues and the knights was about to end. To Rosina’s surprise, the rogues were winning.
Even though the knights had silver swords and armor. Their number of troops wasn’t enough to defeat all the wolves that attacked them.
"In a war like this, numbers play a huge role," Rosina muttered and leaned on the tree trunk.
Draco, Gastone, Silvio, and several knights were still standing, but they noticed their disadvantages seeing their fallen troops. They faced the gigantic beige wolf that spitted a knight’s dead body.
The wolf shifted into his human form and faced them.
"Surrender and deliver my message to the Monarch," Pepe stated firmly, and the rest of the wolves gathered in front of him as protection.
"I declare war again on the Palace. There should only be one ruler in this realm, and that’s the 13th pack!" Pepe exclaimed, and his men howled with glory.
"You!" Gastone growled since he was the Crown Prince, but Pepe didn’t know his identity.
"Go, or I’ll hang your dead body as a sign of threat to the Monarch!" Pepe exclaimed with a smirk. He felt good about winning the war, especially seeing Draco’s hardened face.
’Brother, we should go,’ Draco mind-linked toward Gastone. Surrendering to a rogue hurt his pride as a Prince, but he was concerned with his knights and Rosina’s well-being.
’If we didn’t fight till death. It brings shame to our family!’ Gastone snapped back at Draco.
’If you plan to die, brother. I won’t stop you, but I will retreat my troops and keep Rosina safe. She is still out there, and I don’t know where she is!’ Draco mind-linked aggressively and stepped back, putting down his sword.
"Rosina..." Gastone muttered, and that was enough for him to retreat.
Pepe heard Rosina’s name in Gastone’s mouth. It made him feel tingly and concerned whether she escaped safety. After all, he notified his wolves not to harm Rosina if they saw her.
Draco and Gastone, along with their troops, retreated back. They left the camp and belongings since the rogues took hold of them.
The knight’s dead bodies were left in the cold to rot in the camp as a sign of war.
Pepe fisted tightly while looking at the knights walking away from him. Somehow, he wanted to search for Rosina. Even though she was his father’s b^tch. He wanted her at his side, not as a Queen, but as a prisoner.
"My King, what should we do next?" Bertrando, the 13th pack’s Beta, shifted and asked Pepe.
"We should prepare for war. They will attack sooner or later, and before that happen. We need to secure our win. No matter how much it takes," Pepe replied before turning around and going back to the Castle.
"Yes, my King," Bertrando bowed and looked back at his men carrying the dead and wounded wolves back in their pack. "Make sure to take all their supplies from each tent!"
"Hmm, that’s a twist," Rosina muttered while swaying her legs. She stood up and watched Draco coming into the forest.
"Sh^t, Mari!" Rosina exclaimed and hurriedly jumped on each branch before hopping down and running toward Mari’s location, but when she arrived. Mari was nowhere to be found, but the horse was still there.
"That b^tch," Rosina exclaimed and looked around. She sniffed the air to locate her scent, but there was no trace.
The sound of heavy footsteps distracted Rosina, and she immediately climbed onto the tree to hide. She waited for a few minutes until they arrived and saw the horse.
"This is the horse I gave to the Princess," Silvio said, untying the rope.
"Ugh! She must have wandered again," Draco groaned in frustration. He expected her to escape safely, but knowing that she left behind the horse showed she had gone elsewhere.
"I’ll search for her, Your Highness," Silvio stated firmly and was about to go, but Draco stopped her.
"There’s no need, Silvio. She can take care of herself," Draco stated aggressively. He remembered the fight he had with Rosina about her freedom and the contract they had.
"What do you mean by that? We need to find her, or she’ll be in danger!" Gastone faced Draco with anger. He didn’t like how Draco acted, as if he didn’t care.
"Brother, you don’t know about her and what she can do. We should focus on a bigger problem instead. If we stay here and search for her whereabouts, we’ll be delayed in informing the Palace!" Draco raised his voice. He grabbed Gastone’s collar and looked him in the eye.
"The 13th pack was supposed to be mine, but a made-up King took it. Now, he’s taking over your crown. Don’t forget you’re the next King," Draco pushed Gastone away as they glared at one another.
The knights backed away since their aura was suffocating them, and they didn’t want to tangle at their dispute.
"Alright, we’re going to travel back to the Sabrecrown and prepare for war," Gastone stated before walking away.
Draco sighed deeply and brushed her wet, bloodied hair. He was frustrated since the problems kept on stacking. He looked around once more before following Gastone behind.
"That’s some siblings fight you got there," Rosina chuckled while enjoying their argument. "But Pepe is too dumb to declare war against the Palace, knowing its twelve packs against one."
Rosina shook her head. She knew Pepe’s pack couldn’t stand against them if the whole Werewolf packs united to fight him, especially since he threatened the crown.
"It must be nice to watch the outcome, but I must search for Mari first. That b^tch is giving me a headache," Rosina muttered before jumping down, but the ground opened up, and she was swallowed inside.
The ground closed, and everything went back to normal as if nothing had happened in the first place.
