Chapter 131: The Heart that Hurts

Chapter 131: The Heart that Hurts

Draco stared at Rosina and walked closer to her. He grabbed Rosina’s hand and pressed it gently.

"Don’t you feel anything? Like a spark where our skin is connected?" Draco asked and looked closely at Rosina’s expression.

Rosina opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. She was hesitant about what to say to Draco but didn’t know what to feel.

’I could feel the spark,’ Rosina thought, but she couldn’t say it out loud. The fear of admitting the connection between them was eating Rosina’s mind that Draco might have been her mate all along.

"No, I don’t feel anything," Rosina lied and pulled her hand away from Draco. She turned around to escape his gaze.

"Rosina—" Draco whispered and wanted to hold Rosina’s hand again, but a knight called out for him.

"Your Highness, you have a visitor," the knight said outside Draco’s tent.

"Okay," Draco replied as he kept staring at Rosina’s back before going out.

Rosina sighed deeply in relief since Draco’s presence was suffocating her. She felt the need to run away for a while and take fresh air to clear her mind from the thoughts of sparks and mates.

"I should go out," Rosina muttered and went out of the tent when she saw Draco talking to the visitor, who was Gastone.

"What is he doing here?" Rosina immediately entered the tent back and peeked. She saw how Draco and Gastone looked like they were arguing based on their facial expression.

"Ah, whatever. It’s not my problem," Rosina rolled her eyes and felt pathetic for hiding in Gastone’s presence. She stood straight before opening the tent and went out. She began to walk at the side toward the trees to relax, but a voice called for her.

"Rosina!" Gastone shouted and rushed toward her, pushing Draco along the way. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?"

Rosina looked up at Gastone’s worried expression. She could see the sincerity in his eyes.

"Yes, I am fine. Thank you for worrying about my well-being, Your Highness, the Crown Prince," Rosina bowed and offered a gentle smile.

"That’s great! I was so worried after knowing you were kidnapped with no trace. Your husband failed to protect you!" Gastone exclaimed with pure hatred at saying Draco’s name.

Rosian chuckled. "Please, don’t blame anyone, but may I ask what you are doing here? This place is dangerous for you, Your Highness."

"I came here to make sure that you’re fine, Rosina," Gastone answered and was about to touch Rosina’s cheeks, but she tilted her head to the side to avoid his hand.

"Your Highness, I believe your fiancee is very worried about you coming here," Rosina muttered and took a step back. She glanced at Draco, who was standing with a glare at the back, looking at them while talking.

"Fiancee?" Gastone was confused at Rosina’s words.

"Lady Melania Palmiotto," Rosina answered and forced herself not to roll her eyes.

"Ah," Gastone chuckled with amusement. "She’s not my mate, Rosina, and I have a few more years before I ascend to the throne. I hope when that time comes, I’m able to find my mate."

Rosina raised an eyebrow. She never expected Gastone to talk like that. He sounded different from the last time they met.

"That’s great! I hope you will find her soon," Rosina supported Gastone’s decision. After all, she didn’t like Melania one bit.

"Okay, that’s enough," Draco appeared on the side and stood between them. "You should go back to the Palace, brother Gastone. It’s dangerous for you to stay here."

"No, I already informed them I’ll stay here and assist the war between the 13th pack. My troops are setting up their tents already," Gastone replied with a smirk, and somehow, the atmosphere became intense.

Draco and Gastone faced one another with smiles, but their hatred was seeping out of their bodies.

On the other side, Rosina was shaking her head. She sighed before walking away to avoid getting between their conflict. They didn’t notice Rosina walking away since they were focused on winning against each other’s dominance.

"Ah, it’s chaos," Rosina muttered, indicating Draco and Gastone’s situation, but she was glad that Gastone wasn’t pursuing her anymore. She looked at the trees around her and breathed in.

Rosina’s mind thought about the 13th pack beyond the forest. She left the place with unfinished business. She thought about Donata and Ambra inside and worried about what would happen to them.

A footstep caught Rosina’s attention. She glanced back and saw Draco with a tight smile.

"Draco, when will you plan to attack?" Rosina asked without looking at him.

"As soon as possible. With Gastone’s troops with us, we can go to war with them earlier than the expected date," Draco answered nonchalantly.

"I see..." Rosina muttered. "Do you need to kill them all?"

"Well, that’s how war works. If Pepe surrendered, then perhaps we can get the pack’s territory without blood spilled," Draco shrugged, but he knew Pepe wouldn’t stay quiet and let them get what they wanted.

"Let’s do that," Rosina turned around and faced Draco. "Those rogues. Some of them might have a bad background, but not all of them are dangerous. They were living peacefully with unity, which is completely different from what I’ve seen in most packs."

"I think... They deserve to live," Rosina whispered and turned around. She didn’t want Draco to see the tears that threatened to drop.

"Rosina," Draco whispered. Somehow, he could feel the sadness leaking through Rosina’s pores and realized that she had changed a little.

"I can’t promise anything. There will be lives wasted to defend their pack. That’s how the world works, Rosina. I hope you understand," Draco stated and went to hug Rosina to comfort her, but before he could. His hand stopped, and he retreated back, giving Rosina the space to think.

Rosina didn’t reply, but she turned around to see Draco walking away. She felt her heart hurt, and she didn’t know why.
