Chapter 128: The Mark of First War
Rosina gritted her teeth as she started laughing sarcastically. "You imprisoned me again after that, but the damage was already done. Everyone knows that you’re f^cking a child back then!"
Rosina shook her head. It was a painful memory for her, and saying them out loud broke her soul, but she knew she was strong enough to handle them for the time being.
"What do you think of my story, Pepe?" Rosina stated and turned around to where Pepe was standing behind.
"Y-you’re that girl..." Pepe whispered with disbelief. He took a step back since he couldn’t believe what he had just heard. His memory returned to the time where he stared at Rosina’s younger form kneeling on the ground in the dining room.
Pepe was full of hatred for her, thinking that she seduced his father and the stress caused his death, but there was more to the story. He grasped his head as pain seeped in. He was confused and didn’t know what was real anymore.
Rosina stood up and faced Pepe. She could feel his despair and distress, but she wasn’t sorry. She was glad he knew the truth since Perise was feeding them lies.
"You’re father took the innocence of a 10-year-old she-wolf for three years. Locked in the deep part of the Castle without bathing in the sunlight. No one knew what was happening to her. No one came to save her except that day, and here I am now," Rosina stated with a deadpan expression. Her eyes shifted from black to green since her wolf was in pain from the memories.
"No, my father isn’t like that!" He’s a good man, a leader who prospers this pack from being a dump site for rogues!" Pepe screamed. His pain turned to anger, and he felt that Rosina was damaging his father’s reputation.
"Perise died after several days with unknown cause. The Castle was in an uproar, and you were forced to become the Alpha at such a young age," Rosina stated, telling Pepe the rest of the story.
"Tell me, how did you escape the 13th pack!?" Pepe shouted.
"The Luna... Your mother opened the door and let me escape the pack because she knew you would kill me," Rosina answered with a smile. She was starting to have fun in their conversation, and seeing Pepe’s reaction gave her a more thrilling feeling.
"That b^tch! That’s not my mother! My father picked her up from the cell and made her act as a Luna!" Pepe answered with so much hatred. "She’s better off in the cells... Now, because of her, you survived!"
Rosina was surprised at Pepe’s revelation. She realized the woman she talked to in the cell when she arrived at the 13th pack was the substitute Luna of Perise.
"Haha!" Rosina laughed with amusement. "They say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree," she stated, referring to how Pepe made her a substitute Luna in the pack.
"Because of you..." Pepe bit his lips until the skin bled. He was looking at Rosina and trying to see her resemblance with the girl his father f^cked.
Rosina closed her eyes. She didn’t want to argue or prove her point since Pepe was blocking his logic from functioning.
"I have suffered so much. I will be glad if you return me to my husband without any trouble to prevent any upcoming war. Lives will be wasted, and I don’t want that to happen," Rosina stated and sighed deeply. She blocked the memories again deep inside her brain to contained herself from being miserable.
All Rosina wanted was a peaceful life just like before, where she could f^ck and kill without trouble.
"I will talk to my husband to leave this pack alone— "
"You’re a liar! The Palace always wanted to demolish this Kingdom! Sooner or later, you will send troops here to kill us all!" Pepe shouted, and a single tear escaped his eyes.
For the first time, Rosina witnessed Pepe crying in front of her.
The pain and hatred excreted from Pepe’s body, but it wasn’t directed at Rosina. It was toward himself. He began to question his decisions in life.
Rosina pursed his lips. She knew the Palace wouldn’t stop until they took over the 13th pack, but she didn’t want to admit it. She remained silent and wanted to comfort Pepe, but it would only worsen.
"I want you, Rosina... If only you weren’t that girl. What if you didn’t come across this pack’s territory. What if you— "
"Don’t stay on ’what ifs,’ Pepe, or you’ll get drowned. You can’t change the past. It already happened. Let’s look forward to the future that has yet to come," Rosina gave a warm smile, hoping it would ease Pepe’s pain, but she smelled a familiar scent when the wind flowed toward them.
Rosina gasped, and panic surged in her body.
Pepe looked at her with confusion. He was about to ask when he received a mind link from the wolf guards that they were under attack.
"Sh^t!" Pepe cursed and was about to run but stopped. He faced Rosina, who was still in a daze.
"Rosina, I’ll allow myself to feel whatever I want, and I won’t hide it. You might want a feeling of peace, but the world is cruel. Today will mark the first war between the 13th pack and the Palace. I hope you’re ready," Pepe shifted into his wolf form and howled loudly before sprinting toward the forest, leaving Rosina alone.
"He’s letting me go. I want this, but why do I feel sad," Rosina muttered as she broke down. Her body weakened and dropped to the ground while she stared at Pepe’s wolf.
"I felt empty. The void in my heart is spreading on my entire body... Somebody... save me," Rosina muttered and looked at the bright sky that turned gloomy.
After a few seconds, raindrops splattered on Rosina’s face, and the rain became heavier. Bathing her with the tears from the sky.
