Chapter 101: The Castle
Chapter 101: The Castle
Rosina looked at the woman in front of her. Her dress was completely different from the aura the place was emitting.
"Hi, I’m Tonia, this man’s mate," Tonia stated while patting Cirino’s shoulder. She was wearing a bright yellow dress that flowed softly on the ground. The color matched her light blonde hair and blue eyes.
"So you’re the famously captured she-wolves!" Tonia exclaimed and leaned closer to Rosina to have a closer look at her beauty.
"You mean kidnapped she-wolf," Rosina muttered and looked into Tonia’s eyes, but her statement was ignored by her.
"You are so beautiful!" Tonia added before glancing at Pepe. "That man had good taste."
Pepe cleared her throat and looked at his Delta, Cirino Endrizzi. His gaze indicated that Cirino needed to calm down his mate, or he would do it.
Cirino cleared his throat and pulled Tonia toward her seat. He leaned toward her eyes and whispered. "Don’t scare our guest."
Tonia nodded her head with a giggle and smiled widely at Rosina before she began eating her own food in silence. Although she had a bright and loud personality, they were held back due to the cold atmosphere.
This made Rosina dislike Pepe since he was forcing that kind of aura into the place, but she couldn’t blame him. She had seen several worst places.
’I should eat my fill since I don’t know when I will eat again,’ Rosina thought before grabbing another chicken leg to boost her body. She needed a lot of stored strength in case something happened to her. She was confident in her power and could escape anytime, but she didn’t want to underestimate the werewolves around her.
’I need to be careful and observant from now on,’ Rosina thought before glancing at Pepe, who already looking at her. She had so many questions in her head that she wanted to ask Pepe, but Rosina decided to keep them in because she knew it wouldn’t be the last time they would meet.
Their lunch finished in silence. The Beta and Delta, and his mate left the dining room, leaving Rosina alone with Pepe.
The atmosphere instantly became awkward since Pepe had been staring at Rosina’s face for quite some time. That also irritated her since she only wanted to eat, and his stares made it hard for her.
"Do you want something?" Rosina asked firmly and tried to compose herself, but it was evident that she was pissed.
"Hmm, you didn’t answer my question earlier," Pepe stated, placing his chin in his palm for support.
"Same as you," Rosina replied with a forced smile, making Pepe laugh.
"I know that you have so many unanswered questions in your head, but you will know soon," Pepe stated with a smirk before standing up and ending their conversation.
Pepe walked toward the door, but before he could leave. He stopped and turned around to face Rosina. "Come with me."
Rosina’s eyebrows twitched since she thought their conversation had ended, but it was the opposite. She stood up from her seat and followed Pepe.
They walked in silence as they went out of the place after a long walk. That was when Rosina noticed she lived inside a castle, and several defensive infrastructures were placed on the side.
’It’s different from the palace back in the Sabrecrown,’ Rosina thought while looking at the stoned walls built for defense.
"You must be wondering why a King has an ugly place to live," Pepe stated when he saw that she was looking at the Castle.
"No, I think I do know the difference," Rosina stated and walked beside Pepe, which made him raise an eyebrow.
No one dared to walk beside Pepe since it was deemed that they had the same rank— an equal. All the people inside the pack always walked behind him regarding his status.
"What?" Rosina asked when she noticed the surprised look on Pepe’s face.
Pepe shook his head with a smirk. "I just find you amusing," he stated before walking again.
Rosina looked at him weirdly, but she knew what he meant. After all, she wasn’t treating him as a King but as someone like a friend. She didn’t even feel intimidated by him, knowing that he could end her life.
"Tell me, what pack is this again?" Rosina asked. She tried her luck again for Pepe to answer her question, but all she received was a grumble from him.
"You could look around first and perhaps guess what pack you’re currently standing in. It will be boring if I tell you," Pepe smirked as they went out of the Castle’s territory, outside where other wolves lived.
Rosina glanced at the space between her and Pepe since they were in public. She didn’t want to be perceived in a wrong way. She stopped walking for a second and lowered her pace, making Pepe walk ahead of her.
Pepe noticed the distance between them but acted like he didn’t care. ’She knows when to act correctly.’ Seeing that Rosina’s attitude changed in front of the public made Pepe interested in her.
The werewolves around them bowed when they saw Pepe walking. They stayed that way until Pepe passed by and did their chores again.
Rosina glanced at the wolves. She noticed the shiver in their body from the dominance that Pepe radiated, but they weren’t that fearful. She expected them to tremble in fear from his appearance.
"Seemed like they weren’t afraid of you," Rosina commented, lifting her dress to avoid ruining it due to the twigs on the ground.
"Why do they need to fear me?" Pepe asked back and glanced at her. He had a cold expression plastered on his face while they were outside.
"I could feel that they fear you, but not to the point that their body will shake terribly," Rosina stated with a shrug. She always observed the people living inside the pack since they were the reflection of how their leaders behaved and treated them.
