Chapter 86: Chapter 86- Results
AUTHORS POV~
"Am I still alive?" He thought he wasn’t quick enough to react. He had made an attempt to block the projectile but if it was anything like a gun then his forearms would prove to be useless against whatever it was that was shot at him. After a few seconds, he could still hear himself breathing so he carefully brought his hands down and saw Jacob standing with a smile on his face. Immediately he seized the opportunity and with incredible speed, he shuffled till he got to Jacob, He held the sweat-stained collar of the man and slammed his back against the wall, pinning him effectively, he raised his fist to throw a finishing punch but was stopped by Jacobs unsettling smile.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" He growled angrily but instead of answering all Jacob did was point to the wall that was right next to the door, Luther indulged him, and turning his head he saw a large hole had been created, with no doubt of it being from whatever had just been fired Luther snapped his head back to him.
"How? A bullet can’t penetrate these walls." He barked, his hold tightening on Jacobs’s collar, Jacob grinned before he responded
"Let go of me and I’ll tell you." He offered knowing fully well that he wasn’t in any position to make demands. Luther obliged, letting go of the collar and allowing him to fall to the ground. Jacob rubbed his strained neck as he stood back up to his feet, Luther’s eyes were fixed on him like a hawk watching its prey, making it clear that he would die before he was able to do anything.
"You gave me a job to do and I did it." He said with a proud grin spread across his dry broken lips. Luther turned his eyes to the weapon that sat on the table and picked it up, It feet a long silver metallic body and sharp edges, a blunt mouth with two large openings serving as its barrel, it had a blue dim light that ran through its side, It looked like a gun you would see in sci-fi games and movies. Luther squinted in suspicion and asked.
"What is this?", Jacob smirked
"An anti-werewolf riffle." He said with a smug smile as he picked up a small spiraling object that sat on his table and handed it to Luther.
"Fancy name," Luther said as he collected the small object that no doubt was the bullet, Luther instructed him on how to load it and showed him the button he’d press to bring up the scope, Luther followed the instructions without trouble as he pointed the weapon at the other side of the door.
"Aim, And fire at will," Jacob said from beside him, Luther didn’t need to be told that he squeezed the trigger and the bullet blasted out with a loud bang and went straight into what was supposed to be a bulletproof wall.
"Wow," Luther said with an amused chuckle as he ran to the door to examine the damage, It had completely gone through the wall, creating a hole that allowed him to see outside the lab.
"Results," Jacob said with a wide grin, Luther stepped away from the wall and back to him, he picked up the riffle and began to examine it and slowly his smile started to fade as a realization hit him.
"Werewolves heal, which means unless we have a clear shot to their head we won’t be able to stop them and even with the clear shot to their head their reaction speeds are insane so whoever held this to one of them would probably die before being able to accomplish anything." Luther voiced, his voice filled with childish disappointment. Jacob chuckled as he collected the weapon from Luther and picked up another bullet.
"You think I didn’t take that into consideration." He said as he held the bullet in between his index finger and thumb "They are made up of a substance that hinders werewolf cells from performing basic functions like healing." He continued, Luther’s eyes widened with surprise as he heard those words.
"You don’t mean—"
"Yes, a Chemical the organization calls Wolf’s tears, I stumbled across it while reading over the notes of other engineers who had worked on similar projects in the past year."
"Impossible, it can’t be condensed." He said as he examined the bullet. Only now did he realize it wasn’t black but a very deep shade of purple.
"It can under the right conditions, If just compressed together like what the notes of past engineers suggest they’ve been doing then it would only be able to hold shape for about one minute before breaking apart."
"So what did you do differently?"
"Compress it while mixing it with small amounts of metal to allow it retain its shape for a longer amount of time, They are also lighter than normal bullets which means they move faster which accommodates for humans slower reaction speed."
"Good. So the shape still isn’t permanent."
"Yes, which is where the riffle itself comes in."
"How?"
"I’ve created it with an inbuilt space that acts like a freezer to help retain its form, which is the reason why it’s also a bit bulky." He explained, All through Luther was just amazed, Men who were at the top of their fields in engineering had tried endlessly to create something like this but their results had always fallen short of expectations in six days Jacob Colt had not only presented him with excellent results but blown away all his expectations.
"I have only words of praise for you, Jacob," Luther said as he put down the weapon, Jacob gently bowed before he handed a sheet of paper to Luther.
"Those are the plans, this is just a rough prototype I created with available materials but if you give that to a skilled engineer they should be able to create a much more efficient model." He said, Luther looked at the paper in his hands a mischievous smile curved his lips.
"With this, we’re going to wipe those bastards off the face of the earth." He said, his voice filled with so much hate that you couldn’t even ignore it even if you tried
