Chapter 61- Jermaine

Chapter 61: Chapter 61- Jermaine

DAMON~

Ebony skin, dreaded locks that fell gracefully over his shoulders, deep brown eyes, a rounded nose, thin lips that were a fade shade of pink, he wore a black hood twice his size and baggy sweat pants, Barefoot for some reason and between his two fingers was a lit blunt.

"If it isn’t the boy Alpha." He said, his deep voice booming through the room even though he didn’t shout.

"Jermaine?" I asked.

"That’s me." He said as he slowly turned towards me and with his fingers put out the light of his joint and tossed it to the ground "You’ve changed me."

"So have you," I replied, he chuckled as he leaned against a table behind him.

"It’s probably all the weed." He joked as he took out another joint from his pockets and a lighter, Wasteful, I thought as he let out a puff of smoke, and a satisfied groan escaped his lips, I let out a forced chuckle as I stepped closer.

"They call you boss now, So you’re the Alpha of this pack?" I asked, he stared at me for a brief moment before he answered.

"I’m not an alpha and this isn’t a pack."

"Then what is it?" I asked, trying to keep the conversation going.

"It’s whatever they need it to be." He answered dryly, for some reason those words felt hostile.

"So I see you scrambling for help, you even went to the fucking Thravasi." He mockingly said, I raised a brow in surprise and was about to ask how he knew that when he answered the question on my mind.

"I keep tabs on you, You might have fucked up but I promised your Old man I’d watch out for you, And I’m a man of my word.", I nodded in response and licked my suddenly dry lips.

"I appreciate that.", he turned his attention to a marijuana bush and picked up a small spray bottle.

"So, how long do you have left?" He said with eyes still fixed on the plant, I was baffled as I didn’t know how to answer that, how did he know about it, or did he mean something else?

"What do you mean?" I decided to ask, he scoffed and then turned to me.

"I mean how long before that cancer puts you six feet under." He answered bluntly, how the fuck did he know that not even Hugh ranking members of the pack knew so did he, was someone leaking out the pack’s information, my mind raced as I searched for an answer as to how he could know about my sickness. Seeing the distraught look in my eye he let out an amused chuckle.

"Relax man, you don’t get no snitch in your circle." He said.

"How did you know?"

"I told you, I keep tabs on you." If he knew about something I had been keeping so quiet then he probably knew about it.

"Do you know about—"

"Elliot?" He completed "Of course I do, that’s why I know that boy doesn’t need you in his life."

"He my fucking son."

"You don’t get to claim fatherhood simply because you need him to stay alive, the kid doesn’t need your bullshit and neither does Zarah.", As he said those words I remembered how close he and Zarah were, two of them stuck to each other like glue, inseparable.

"I’m not doing this because I need him," I replied

"Maybe, but it is a benefit of it isn’t it?"

"I don’t gotta take this shit from you."

"Make one move out of line and I’ll drop your ass." He threatened.

"You really think you could do that?" I said, my voice confident as I stepped closer to him.

"Don’t fucking try that Alpha shit with me, I know you can’t do shit so back the fuck up.", He was right, I couldn’t do shit but still his words made my blood boil.

"I’m trying to change."

"Then change, don’t go to a couple of therapy sessions and expect everyone to just let go of the shit you put them through.", I stepped back.

"You’re right, but I gotta start from somewhere, ’cause you know I don’t have a lot of time."

"What the fuck do you want Dae?" He asked angrily, he’s still calling me I thought, I stepped forward to speak but he interrupted.

"Lemme guess you’re here to squash beef?"

"Yeah but—"

"Fuck your white ass nigga, we ain’t got no beef." He stated.

"Then why the hell are you angry at me?, let’s talk this shit out, I fucked you over, I know but I’m trying to make it right."

"Fuck no, You ain’t getting no love from me Dae, I’m not gonna let you have that peace of mind you craving so badly."

"So there is beef."

"Nah, there isn’t, I don’t just like you Dae and do you know why?"

"No, I don’t," I admitted, wanting badly for him to tell me why.

"Cause of her," because of Zarah?

"I don’t understand."

"You abused her Dae, you abused her to the level that she ran away from her home, I can forgive you for mine cause I get it, you were a kid, you were angry, and you had alot on your plate, so I get it but what you did to her that’s something I can’t forgive."

"You think I don’t hate myself for what I did!" I shouted in frustration.

"That’s the problem you still think it’s about you!" He shouted back "It’s not, it’s about all the people you fucked up, It’s about all the people you fucked up and are expecting their forgiveness cause you feel bad about it. Guess what, you’re a couple of years too late."

"I know. But like I said I got to start from somewhere, I’m not expecting it to happen immediately but I don’t have a lot of time." I explained then stepped forward "And yeah I don’t wanna die but I genuinely want to be in that boy’s life, because he’s my son." Jermaine stepped closer to me till our bodies were barely an inch away from each other and our eyes were locked, the amount of tension coming off the both of us was immense but I didn’t falter, I came here for a reason and I’m gonna give it a 110 percent before I quit.
