Chapter 99: Chapter 99 Sister Bei

After Yan Zhen Guo left, Gu Fuqiao continued to sleep for a while. She estimated the time was about right to get up and cook, but just as she got up and checked her watch, she found it was only a little past nine.

"Illusions, illusions, it must be Yan Zhen Guo’s fault for making me so tired," Gu Fuqiao muttered to herself. It was too early; cooking wouldn’t be appropriate now.

She couldn’t fall asleep again, so she thought about it and decided to head to Chen Bajin’s door to knock. As she knocked, Zhang Hong passed by in the corridor, intentionally giving her a couple of extra glances as they brushed past each other.

Gu Fuqiao ignored Zhang Hong and continued knocking on the door.

Chen Bajin opened the door quickly, probably because she was bored without Gu Fuqiao at home for the past few days. Upon seeing Gu Fuqiao, she promptly said, "Where have you been these days? I’ve missed you a lot."

"I went back to my hometown for the past few days. By the way, do you know how to ride a bicycle?" Gu Fuqiao asked Chen Bajin.

Upon hearing "bicycle," Chen Bajin curiously widened her eyes and said, "I don’t know how to... Do you know how?"

"Yes," Gu Fuqiao nodded and said. "Coincidentally, my Zhen Guo bought a bicycle back home, I can take you out for a ride!"

"Okay!" Chen Bajin hurriedly closed the door and followed Gu Fuqiao out.

Yan Zhen Guo parked the bicycle on the first floor. Speaking of which, every building in the military family compound had a place to put bicycles at the bottom.

In other places, if a bicycle was left unlocked like this, it would probably be stolen by now.

After Gu Fuqiao pushed the bicycle out, she looked at Chen Bajin and said, "Bajin, do you want to give it a try? I can teach you!"

The bicycle was quite high, and after pondering for a while, Chen Bajin looked at Gu Fuqiao and said, "Maybe later!" After all, with such a high bicycle, Chen Bajin thought it would be bad to fall. Besides, she really wanted to learn how to ride it properly!

Seeing Chen Bajin’s somewhat fearful appearance, Gu Fuqiao said, "Alright then, I’ll teach you later when there’s time. Once you learn to ride a bicycle, it’ll definitely be much more convenient."

After saying this, Gu Fuqiao sat at the front and then said to Chen Bajin, "Bajin, come on up, just hold my waist!"

Chen Bajin watched as the slim Gu Fuqiao rode such a large bicycle and swallowed nervously. But seeing Gu Fuqiao handle it so effortlessly, she sat on the back seat behind Gu Fuqiao, reached out to hold Gu Fuqiao’s waist, and said, "Ah Jiao, go slowly... If it’s really hard, we can both get off and push the bike."

Push the bike? Hearing this, Gu Fuqiao almost burst out laughing. Actually, she didn’t need to push the bike because her skills from childhood were still there! So she pedaled the bike and went to the market with Chen Bajin.

For the first time, Chen Bajin was on the back seat of someone’s bicycle, feeling both scared and nervous. However, as time passed, she became excited when she realized Gu Fuqiao was very skilled, chatting animatedly from the back seat.

"Ah Jiao! Turn!"

"Ah Jiao, go straight!"

Riding the bicycle, Gu Fuqiao listened to Chen Bajin’s words and couldn’t help but laugh, saying, "Yes, your order!"

Then she pedaled the bicycle with more force.

Today seemed to be market day, so the market was particularly crowded. After parking the bicycle, Gu Fuqiao looked around and realized her bicycle wasn’t locked, unsure what to do.

At this moment, Chen Bajin spoke up and said to Gu Fuqiao, "Let’s leave the bicycle in that bun shop. I often get there early and frequently buy buns from Sister Bei."

"Alright," Gu Fuqiao nodded and followed Chen Bajin to park.

Chen Bajin had been coming to this area much longer than Gu Fuqiao, so she naturally knew it better. Gu Fuqiao usually just came to the market to buy groceries. In these times, there weren’t many small shops around, mostly public-owned, with the occasional private one.

She wasn’t familiar with them.

Chen Bajin took Gu Fuqiao to a quiet bun shop and said, "This is Sister Bei’s shop. Sister Bei is very nice; in the morning, business is good, but at this time, not many people are coming to eat." After all, breakfast time had already passed.

After speaking, Chen Bajin helped Gu Fuqiao push the bike into the bun shop while calling out Sister Bei’s name.

After a while, a woman came out from inside. She was quite thin and looked frail under the loose clothes. Her face had a rather fierce appearance at first glance because of a scar on her left cheek.

In this era, a woman with such a scar on her face generally caught attention.

But excluding the scar, Sister Bei appeared extremely beautiful, and... Gu Fuqiao felt an inexplicable familiarity when she looked at her.

"Sister Bei, we’re going to the market to buy some groceries, so we’re leaving the bicycle here for a while," Chen Bajin greeted Sister Bei.

Sister Bei wasn’t talkative; she nodded and said, "Leave it here. I’ll keep an eye on it; no one will come into my shop and randomly take things."

"That’s good, thanks, Sister Bei," Chen Bajin said with a smile.

Sister Bei smiled and looked at Gu Fuqiao, saying, "Bajin, your friend is very beautiful."

Chen Bajin glanced at Gu Fuqiao and then said, "This is Ah Jiao, whom I mentioned before. She’s Captain Yan’s wife."

Hearing "Yan Camp Commander," Sister Bei’s eyes paused for a moment, then she smiled and said, "You mentioned before how excellent Captain Yan is; now I see his wife is a perfect match."

Having just met Sister Bei, Gu Fuqiao wasn’t sure how to respond, so she awkwardly laughed.

Chen Bajin was nonchalant; she simply nodded and then pulled Gu Fuqiao out.
