After Divorcing the Tycoon, I Married into a Wealthy Family Again -
Chapter 68: Why
Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Why
Florence Fuller’s hand slipped inside his suit, making Ethan Harper’s breathing become heavy and unsteady, gasping twice.
Luke Gardiner heard it clearly: "You have a sugar baby behind my back!"
Florence, familiar with Ethan’s body, appreciated Ethan’s slightly dazed expression and sarcastically smiled at the voice on the phone: "I wouldn’t dare compare with you, Young Master Gardiner, I could never play the way you do."
"Florence!" On the other end, Luke was already furious: "Don’t forget your identity, you’re a married woman."
"Oh~" Florence laughed: "I remember my husband once told me, as long as we do our own thing, it’s fine."
"I didn’t say that! I never said that!"
"Playing?" Ethan removed the gloves from his hands, and Luke heard a commotion, looking grim: "Florence... I advise you..."
He didn’t finish his sentence when that male voice interrupted him.
"Since we’re familiar with each other’s bodies." Ethan knelt on either side of Florence, holding her hand near his lips, looking at her with eyes full of ambiguous charm: "I’m sure you know the way."
Florence’s other hand moved along his abs to his chest and up to his Adam’s apple, Ethan breathed heavily, looking full of desire.
He wanted her so much.
The touch and caress made him unable to control himself.
Then the call ended.
Florence’s hand abruptly withdrew, causing Ethan to pause, feeling inexplicably interrupted at the start.
Florence leaned back against the sofa, her tall figure enveloped by him, looking at his obviously empty expression, feeling a bit of reluctance, but still said, "Get down."
Ethan saw the ended call.
He chuckled, with a hint of sarcasm: "Is that really all I’m good for?"
In those deep, handsome eyes, there was still pain.
Florence turned her eyes away and pushed him away.
Ethan didn’t move, gazing at her, murmuring: "It’s okay, as long as it’s you, using me, I’m willing." He lowered his head: "At least you’re still willing to use me."
Florence looked at him: "You seem as if I wronged you, but Ethan, you were the one who left without a word."
"It was me." Ethan looked at her: "I know all of this between us is because of me. When I heard you got married while in France, I..." His voice became hoarse, touched with deep pain: "I would rather have died then."
Florence’s breath trembled slightly; she didn’t know what Ethan experienced in France, just as he didn’t know what she had been through in the past two years. But now that he was in front of her, Florence was happy.
But she was still married.
She let out a bitter laugh: "Then I would rather that kidnapping ended with my death, dying earlier would’ve been fine."
Ethan looked at her, wanting to touch her face, and said softly: "Then I’d die too."
She pushed against Ethan to stand up, her voice much clearer: "You know I’m a married woman, leave early, entangling with me does no good."
"I came back for you." Ethan said: "Three years is enough for me! I will never leave again."
"For me?" Florence looked at him: "Then why didn’t you think of me when you left without a word, Ethan? Even if you left me a message back then, I wouldn’t have yielded to this marriage."
Ethan stood up, facing her: "Yeah, see that’s you. When I left, I couldn’t even guarantee my own life or death behind me. Wouldn’t I have wasted your life if I had died?"
"So you think making me wait is a mistake?" Florence gritted her teeth: "Or you think leaving without a word was right."
"Making you wait is wrong, and leaving without a word is wrong too." His suit, pulled into disarray by Florence, his low voice sounded like it was brewing something.
"What do you mean."
He was always gentle and refined, but Florence knew he wasn’t as simple as he seemed; his suit now disheveled with his expression looked somewhat dissolute.
"What meaning... what meaning could it have..." Ethan moved closer to her: "I came back for you, whether you divorce or not I don’t care, but don’t think about driving me away."
"You’re crazy, Ethan." Florence couldn’t believe what he was saying: "Do you know what this means, is it good for you?"
"So is accepting someone like Luke Gardiner good for you?" Ethan looked deeply at her: "I’d rather you marry someone with only interests, different intentions, but with good character, and concerned about your reputation."
If that were the case, even if Florence fell in love with someone else and lived a good life, his return would’ve only been hopeless despair, but at least Florence would’ve been happy those years, and he would be willing to guard her silently in the shadows.
But instead...
"But instead, the Fuller Family let you marry that scum, regardless of you playing a game of cat and mouse, enduring all the gossip, for what!"
She was clearly the bright, luminous moon in the sky, yet because of that thing, her light was dimmed.
Florence closed her eyes, a tear silently slid down.
She seemed unaffected by the gossip, but she never wanted to relive the embarrassment of the wedding day in her dreams, and that day’s events would always be something others could use to criticize her.
Ethan really understood her.
"But didn’t you say before." Her voice was tinged with sobs: "If the present environment cannot be changed, you have to take advantage."
Ethan had also said to never reveal your weaknesses, the things you fear.
No one can truly be unaffected by gossip, the invisible harm caused, seemingly invulnerable, much like the waves crashing in, ultimately needs to be endured and worn down by oneself...
Then create your own rebirth.
She could use the Gardiner Family’s background to create her own force.
NQ was her very satisfactory creation.
"So you’ve done well, you’re now independent, capable of doing any task." Ethan wiped away her tears: "It seems you no longer need me at all."
And that’s what scared him.
Because she no longer needed his help or guidance.
"You’re truly annoying, yet very..." Florence choked, she had not had an easy time these years.
Once, when she was at her worst, he was always there, but later he left, she fell ill, got hurt, swallowed her pride, and no longer had this person to accept all of her.
Now he’s back, but how can a three-year gap recover in such a short time, let alone, she can’t even divorce now.
Ethan hugged her: "I love you. Whether you like to hear it or not, what I didn’t dare to say before, I have to tell you now."
