Chapter 223: Encounter

The night was quiet and the moon bright.

After Luo Qingyu and Wen Wanwan returned, they went to the backyard bathhouse together. Jiang Huai was outside the bathhouse, faintly hearing the playful sounds of the two girls.

He was a bit surprised; Luo Qingyu wasn’t usually outgoing, and neither was Wen Wanwan. Both girls were particularly reserved, but they sounded lively and bashful as they played. Jiang Huai could hear the splashing water and phrases like “I want to squeeze yours too” and “Let me kiss you too.”

After bathing, the girls came out in their bathrobes. Wen Wanwan approached Jiang Huai first, blinked innocently at him, then leaned in and kissed him on the cheek, saying,

“Then Wanwan will go to sleep first.”

“Kiss me,” Jiang Huai blinked at her.

So Wen Wanwan obediently closed her eyes, allowing Jiang Huai to lightly peck her lips before she walked back to her room on her snow-white, slender legs. Jiang Huai then turned to look at Luo Qingyu, who pouted slightly, her slight jealousy not having time to show before Jiang Huai stepped forward and scooped her into his arms. Luo Qingyu wrapped her arms around his neck, cautiously asking,

“Jiang Huai brother won’t blame Qingyu for being ignorant, monopolizing Jiang Huai brother these past days, right?”

“I don’t mind,” Jiang Huai said, pinching her cheek.

He had spent many nights close with Wen Wanwan at the Tianxuan Sect, and now at the Qingxuan Sect, he naturally wanted to spend more time with Luo Qingyu. Even without explaining to Wen Wanwan, she would surely understand; Wanwan always made people feel particularly at ease.

“Speaking of which... when I was bored at the Tianxuan Sect, I made a little toy for Qingyu.”

Jiang Huai carried Luo Qingyu back to the room, placed the girl on the bed, and Luo Qingyu looked up at him innocently.

“What is it?”

Jiang Huai took out two mirror-like jade stones. When he wrote a message on one, the same words appeared on the other. These were a pair of mother-child spirit jades, treasures Jiang Huai had found at the Ziyun Pavilion, into which he had carved some formations.

Besides exchanging written messages, if spiritual energy was infused into the formations on the jade, they could also transmit sound.

Luo Qingyu held one of the jades in her arms, wrote “Jiang Huai” with her fingertip, and soon the same words appeared on Jiang Huai’s piece.

Her eyes curved with joy as she leaned in and hugged his neck...

...

Jiang Huai always had an inexplicable sense of thrill.

He suspected that Luo Yueguan might be secretly watching him through Luo Qingyu’s eyes. The more he thought about it, the more awkward he felt. Perhaps harboring some dissatisfaction with Luo Yueguan, he was particularly harsh with Qingyu tonight. Luo Qingyu, however, enjoyed it immensely, her tender legs initially tightly wrapped around his waist, gradually loosening as she grew weak, and still trembling when he pulled her into his arms to sleep.

Jiang Huai continued to tell Luo Qingyu stories; he had many more to tell. As Luo Qingyu gradually fell asleep in his arms, Jiang Huai gently stroked her smooth back, but suddenly, Luo Yueguan’s tearful eyes came to mind.

Damn it.

What exactly should he do, and what can he do?

If Luo Yueguan’s awkward and gloomy mood all stemmed from her past, from the suffering she had endured over the past six hundred years, he didn’t feel he could heal anything. Yet, thinking of her reddened eyes, a sudden, inexplicable pity arose in his heart.

Pity is a different kind of arrogance.

Jiang Huai closed his eyes, kissed Luo Qingyu’s forehead gently, stopped his wild thoughts, and fell into a deep sleep.

...

In today’s Yuelan Continent competition, Jiang Huai faced Luo Qingyu.

The outcome was Luo Qingyu conceding directly because she was feeling weak and sat next to Jiang Huai, her head resting on his lap. After a long separation, Luo Qingyu was probably even more unrestrained than Jiang Huai, having gone to bed very late last night, and now her body was extremely limp. She was too lazy to even go on stage, lying there like a lazy kitten.

Next up was Wen Wanwan against Ye Wanqiu. Both were at the Divine Transformation first-level, but Jiang Huai had already anticipated the outcome.

In less than the time it takes an incense stick to burn, Wen Wanwan placed her sword against Ye Wanqiu’s neck, leaving a very shallow blood mark.

Naturally, she had held back her strength; otherwise, with the Zi Lu sword momentum she mastered, she could have exerted all her strength in one point and decapitated him. Even at the Divine Transformation level, unless one practiced special techniques, decapitation meant death.

The audience was astonished.

Both were at the Divine Transformation first-level, but it was clear to anyone that Wen Wanwan’s sword momentum against Ye Wanqiu was like an effortless crush, nothing like her back-and-forth battle with Luo Qingyu the day before.

Today’s Yuelan Continent competition ended unusually early. Jiang Huai carried a drowsy Luo Qingyu back to their room. She wanted to sleep some more, but when he went to the room next door, Wen Wanwan was sitting at the table, still holding that rather improper book, Floating Clouds and Splendid Elegance.

Upon seeing Jiang Huai, Wen Wanwan immediately put down the book. As soon as Jiang Huai sat down beside her, Wen Wanwan snuggled into his arms, resting her chin on his shoulder and inhaling the sweet scent of her body. She asked,

“Where’s Qingyu?”

“She’s sleeping,” Jiang Huai replied softly, wrapping his arms around her slender waist.

“Do you want to go out for a walk, or rest here for a while?”

Wen Wanwan pouted slightly, looking back at him innocently,

“With Senior Brother Jiang Huai asking like that... what do you think Wanwan will choose?”

Wen Wanwan wriggled out of his embrace, her fingertips lightly grasping her Taoist robe, which fell all the way to her ankles. She slowly gathered it up, lifting it high, revealing her snow-white buttocks wrapped in white lace lingerie, which Jiang Huai gently slid down to her knees.

After a while, Wen Wanwan sat back in Jiang Huai’s arms.

“It always feels like... sneaking around,” Wen Wanwan murmured softly, her cheeks flushing with a hint of red.

...

“Jiang Huai.”

Suddenly, Luo Yueguan’s voice came from outside the door.

Startled, Wen Wanwan quickly covered her mouth to prevent any strange noises, and Jiang Huai, annoyed, glanced at the door, unwilling to respond. He just continued to gently hold Wen Wanwan’s waist. But Luo Yueguan outside seemed relentless, calling out again,

“Jiang Huai.”

“What is it?” Jiang Huai finally responded reluctantly.

“The medicinal garden of the Qingxuan Sect recently harvested a thousand-year-old Bodhi fruit. However, the alchemists have yet to find a perfect way to refine it without completely dissipating its medicinal properties. I remember your alchemy skills are exquisite. Do you have a method?”

“Not a clue,” Jiang Huai answered confidently.

He always had this strange intuition that Luo Yueguan sensed something and was deliberately trying to disgust him. Luo Yueguan persisted from outside.

“Come with me to have a look, you’re not busy anyway. What are you doing in there?”

Wen Wanwan’s cheeks blushed shyly, but her inability to move made her particularly uncomfortable. She was so close, just a little bit more... Inexplicably, she finally let her suspended waist fall, sitting down heavily.

Her slender legs involuntarily lifted high, and Jiang Huai heard her whimper. His head spun, unable to speak, but Luo Yueguan outside, unreasonably... pushed the door open.

The door opened, and the light from outside streamed in.

At that moment, Wen Wanwan covered her mouth, her body limp and powerless. Seeing Luo Yueguan, she covered her cheeks instantly. Both of them looked extremely disheveled, while Luo Yueguan crossed her arms and looked at them with cold eyes, feigning disdain,

“In broad daylight, you don’t know how to restrain yourselves. You two carry on... I’ll come back later.”

“Get out,” Jiang Huai didn’t give her a pleasant look.

“What did you say?” Luo Yueguan was taken aback.

“I said get out!”

Luo Yueguan closed the door with a bang and left. Jiang Huai looked down at Wen Wanwan, who was covering her face, her cheeks burning red and her eyes red-rimmed with grievance. He gently wrapped his arms around her slender waist,

“It’s okay, it’s okay, just pretend she doesn’t exist.”

“So embarrassing...” Wen Wanwan’s voice was very faint.

“Luo Yueguan is crazy, don’t mind her,” Jiang Huai gently lifted Wen Wanwan, her legs still weak, and carried her to the bed. Her eyes were still a bit panicked and shy until Jiang Huai came to her side and gently kissed her lips.

“It’s alright now, it’s not embarrassing, don’t mind that old woman.”

After a gentle kiss that lasted a while, Wen Wanwan’s panic gradually subsided, and she obediently snuggled up to Jiang Huai again. This time, however, she deliberately pulled the quilt over them before daring to carefully twist and sway her hips.

The girl’s lips were moist, occasionally kissing him, and the previous shyness and tension slowly disappeared. After her body was exhausted, Jiang Huai coaxed her to sleep before leaving the room. He saw Luo Yueguan sitting lazily in the courtyard, eating glutinous rice cakes, and he couldn’t help but feel irritated.

He approached Luo Yueguan and looked at her cheek.

“Are you sick or what?”

Luo Yueguan appeared righteous,

“So I happened to catch you doing something bad. Are you ashamed?”

“I don’t care, but Wanwan will feel uncomfortable. Don’t tell me you didn’t know what she and I were doing before you pushed the door.”

“I didn’t know.”

“I don’t believe you.”

“I really didn’t know,” Luo Yueguan stubbornly insisted, and Jiang Huai glared at her angrily.

“Are you sick or what?”

“I promised the elders of Alchemy Mountain that I would solve the problem of refining the thousand-year-old Bodhi fruit. You have to help me.”

“I won’t.”

“Just because I caught you in the act? You’re so petty...”

Luo Yueguan pouted, but she was too guilty to meet Jiang Huai’s eyes.

She hadn’t seen Jiang Huai in the courtyard, but with a thought, she saw what Jiang Huai was doing with Wen Wanwan. A sudden, inexplicable jealousy surged in her heart, so she impulsively went to the door and deliberately pushed it open, just to see Jiang Huai’s shocked and embarrassed expression.

It was strange, why did she suddenly want to provoke him?

“If it had been Qingyu, that would be one thing, but Wanwan isn’t close to you. Do you think she has skin as thick as yours? You’re crazy!”

“No, it’s just that I saw her body, at worst I’ll let her see mine too?”

“You dare to talk back?” Jiang Huai looked at Luo Yueguan furiously.

“Go apologize to Wanwan later, tell her it wasn’t intentional, and not to take it to heart.”

“Me, an elder, apologize to a junior?”

“Are you going or not?”

“I’m not.”

“Fine, then don’t bother me with anything ever again.”

Jiang Huai took a deep breath, realizing he had no way to deal with Luo Yueguan and left helplessly. Luo Yueguan’s voice called out behind him again.

“Where are you going?”

Jiang Huai couldn’t be bothered to deal with her anymore, she was crazy.

But he had only taken seven or eight steps when Luo Yueguan’s pleading voice called out from behind.

“I’ll apologize, I’ll go apologize to her right now... is that okay?”
