Chapter 322: Chapter 322: The Mysterious Aunt Mei

Jin City First Prison.

The next morning, after breakfast, Ye Shu followed the main group outside to do potting as part of their so-called labor reform.

As she was a new face and also very beautiful, she looked strikingly elegant and sexy even in the blue and white striped coarse cloth, attracting many hostile glares.

Fortunately, she had Da Li, the formidable protector, by her side, which discouraged others from bothering her.

She wrapped the flower seedling in nutrient mud, placed it into a nutrient cup, then into the flowerpot, filled it with soil, flattened the surface, and finally watered it before loading it onto the cart.

This was Ye Shu’s first time doing these tasks, and although she lacked some strength, her nimble nature helped her learn quickly, earning the prison guard’s favorable attitude.

Just as she was about to lift a finished plant onto the cart, someone suddenly shouted, "Watch out!"

With a "crash!" a flower tray fell from the top tier of the cart. Ye Shu instinctively dodged, yet she still got cut by the splintering fragments of the flower tray.

"Ye Shu, are you okay?" Da Li rushed to her side, noticing the blood on her arm and glaring at the women on the cart, "You did that on purpose, didn’t you? Come down here and see if I don’t beat you to death!"

"Forget it, Da Li. Don’t start trouble, or else they might extend our sentences," Ye Shu grasped Da Li’s arm, both to prevent further trouble and because she was facing a court appearance in a few days and didn’t want any complications in jail.

"Hmph, I’ll settle with you later!" After saying this, Da Li ran to explain the situation to the supervisor, received permission, and then quickly lifted Ye Shu onto her back and dashed towards Block One.

Ye Shu laughed, "Da Li, what are you doing? Even if you really are strong, don’t waste your energy like this, I just have a cut on my hand, I can walk on my own."

"Quit your yapping. My mom said not to move when you’re bleeding, or you’ll bleed even more." While Da Li spoke, she dashed towards a row of plank houses and loudly called out, "Aunt Mei, Aunt Mei, Ye Shu is hurt!"

Ye Shu found it strange, "Da Li, shouldn’t we go to the infirmary for injuries and bleeding?"

"You don’t understand, Aunt Mei is way better than those clowns in the infirmary. She has her own special remedies that really work!" Da Li spoke as she pushed open a room door.

"Aunt Mei, Aunt Mei?" Da Li called out a few times inside, and seeing that no one was there, she finally said, "Forget it, let’s go to the infirmary then, Aunt Mei must be out."

"Wait a minute!" Ye Shu jumped down from Da Li’s back, her gaze intently fixed on the small room which was only about ten square meters. There was a bed, a small table, and a shelf full of items, neatly organized, with nothing else, not even a TV.

Eventually, Ye Shu’s gaze landed on an old photograph on the pillow.

The photograph had yellowed, appearing quite aged, showing a baby in swaddling clothes looking at the camera with clean, bright eyes.

"Da Li, didn’t you say Aunt Mei had no family? Then this photograph..." Ye Shu couldn’t help touching it, feeling an indescribable sensation.

"I don’t know about that. Maybe it’s her grandchild? No, wait, looking at this little one, and the pattern on this small blanket, it must be a girl." Da Li mumbled, then suddenly shrieked, "Oh dear, I got carried away talking. Let’s hurry to the infirmary, your blood has dripped all over!"
