Chapter 321: See You in Court

Chapter 321: Chapter 321: See You in Court

"Hello, Aunt Mei." Ye Shu nodded politely as Aunt Mei looked her way.

"Is your name Ye Shu?" A flicker of surprise briefly crossed her eyes.

Ye Shu nodded and said, "Yes, Aunt Mei, that’s my name. Are you interested in it?"

"Oh, haha, it sounds nice, a good name. Goodbye." Aunt Mei turned and walked away.

As Ye Shu watched Aunt Mei’s retreating figure, she inexplicably felt a touch of sadness. "Da Li, you said Aunt Mei had been locked up for over a dozen years. Why did she choose to stay after her release? Does she really have no family outside? Surely she has some friends?"

"Who knows? Lots of people have asked her, and she just smiles. The district is her home."

"Oh... I see... I always feel like Aunt Mei must have many fascinating stories," Ye Shu said, bowing her head to eat, only to find her food basin missing!

Turning her head, she saw Da Li eating with gusto. A woman who could eat like that would bankrupt anyone who married her, right?

Caught by Ye Shu’s stare, Da Li finally realized what had happened and hurriedly returned the bowl to Ye Shu. "Hehe, sorry, I accidentally crossed the line."

After dinner, the inmates were required to attend a legal knowledge class in the large classroom, but an instructor called Ye Shu out of the classroom.

"Ye Shu, the victim’s family has appealed, and your trial will be held at Jin City First People’s Court in three days. Do you have a private lawyer? If not, do you need us to provide you with a free one?"

Ye Shu thought for a moment and said, "No need, I will defend myself."

"All right, then you think it over carefully these next couple of days, best to list your thoughts to organize them, lest you forget something in court and affect the outcome."

"Understood, thank you, Instructor." Although Ye Shu was a bit nervous, everything was unfolding according to the plan she and Mr. Sheng had drawn up, and even faster than she had anticipated.

It seemed that Ye Xinyu really wanted to see her meet a tragic end.

Unfortunately, Ye Xinyu would be disappointed because Ye Shu knew that if Mr. Sheng weren’t completely confident, he would never have allowed the court to take the case so early.

Inside a hotel room, Ye Xinyu was fervently scrolling through WeChat on her phone.

She had just received a call from Xu Yan, informing her that the court had accepted her father’s murder case and the trial was scheduled for three days later.

Thus, she was desperately sending invitations in those groups that had supported her, hoping many would come forward to testify, proving what everyone had witnessed, that Ye Shu had pushed her father off the rooftop.

Yet, after sending the identical message in dozens of groups several times, not a single response came!

How could this be? Just the day before, the group was crying out for her injustice, cheering her on.

But now, the moment they’re asked to testify in court, everyone becomes a turtle hiding in its shell?

Desperation nearly brought Ye Xinyu to tears. Initially, she was single-minded in her desire for Ye Shu’s death, confident that once the trial began, Ye Shu could not escape involvement.

Yet with the court date only three days away, she realized she wasn’t prepared at all.

Just as she felt overwhelmed, three witnesses finally came forward, willing to testify for her.

Ye Xinyu’s mood instantly improved...

Ye Shu, oh Ye Shu, I’ll see you in court in three days!
