Chapter 233: Chapter 233: The Masked Man in Black Who Burst Into the Crew
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, let’s focus on work first. Although ’Dynasty’ started filming today, because Director Sun isn’t here, we just need to shoot some explosive highlights for early promotion, that’s all. The real scenes will have to wait until Director Sun comes back."
Assistant Director Chen said this and then had everyone take their places.
The highlight of today’s behind-the-scenes was the heroine escaping from the pursuit of the rebels.
This involved a scene with explosions, so Assistant Director Chen repeatedly stressed to the pyrotechnician to be extremely careful.
The heroine must not trigger the explosion unless she received his signal to ’blast’ while running through the forest trail.
Dressed in her costume, Ye Shu, upon hearing the director’s call of "Action," picked up her skirts and charged forward with all her might.
Just as she was about to reach the midpoint of the set path where the explosion was planned, the assistant director prepared to shout "blast" after three seconds, but before he could get the word out, a loud "Boom!" resounded!
A small mushroom cloud with smoke rose from the center of the forest, accompanied by flying debris and a shockwave that knocked over the camera.
Assistant Director Chen’s face turned pale with fright as he ran towards Ye Shu’s location, cursing as he went: "Pyrotechnician, what the hell? Didn’t we agree to wait for my command? If something happens to Ye Shu, we’re all doomed!"
"It wasn’t me, Assistant Director Chen, I didn’t set it off yet. That explosion wasn’t our charge; ours is still here!" The pyrotechnician was also in a panic, breaking out in a cold sweat.
"Then what the hell happened?"
"I don’t know, and besides, our explosives aren’t even that powerful." The pyrotechnician wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, looking utterly bewildered.
"Ye Shu, where are you?" Director Chen practically cried out in fear.
Just then, a series of urgent roaring sounds drew closer, not from the ground but from the sky!
A heavy helicopter quickly approached, circling low above the film crew.
"Cough, cough!" Ye Shu raised her head from a pile of dirt, shaking the sand from her hair, and looked up at Director Chen before her. "Why even use a helicopter? Aren’t we filming a period drama?"
"Ye Shu? Are you alright?" Assistant Director Chen had no time to worry about any helicopter. Seeing Ye Shu slowly stand up, a weight finally lifted from his heart.
"Director Chen, something’s not right. Look!" The pyrotechnician pointed upwards, "That bomb seemed to have been dropped from the plane!"
As he spoke, the helicopter had already landed in the middle of the clearing, and seven black-clad, masked gunmen jumped out, the leader firing a burst of gunfire into the sky!
Most of the film crew were women, and they were all petrified, screaming ensues.
The lead gunman descended from the plane and barked loudly, "Don’t move, anyone who moves gets killed!"
As he spoke, he unfolded a portrait and began to compare it with the crowd, and the other masked men with guns aimed at them, blocking off all their escape routes.
Sharp-eyed Director Chen instantly recognized the person in the portrait held by the masked men; it was Ye Shu!
The word ’kidnapping’ flashed through his mind, and he quickly understood what was happening.
So, while the smoke from the explosion had not yet cleared, he pushed Ye Shu into a crater and covered the opening with a piece of red carpet, whispering, "Remember, no matter what, don’t come out!"
"Listen up, everyone, we just want a woman named Ye Shu. If you’re wise, hand her over, or else..." With that, the leader sent another burst of bullets into the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.
