After Apocalypse, I Got Rich With Superpower -
Chapter 155 - 153 Research
Chapter 155: Chapter 153 Research
Pei Yuan demonstrated the few high-level potions he knew to Li Pan several times on the spot, and Li Pan, afraid of missing anything, recorded them with a high-definition camera so she could watch and study repeatedly.
"The rest I don’t know how to do; I’ve tried a few times but never succeeded. I’m not sure what the factor is, but I’ve recorded down the reasons for my failures. Look at my notes, and think over these on your own. After all, one person’s thoughts might be biased; multiple people can bring different perspectives to understanding."
"Uncle, I’ll study it."
"Good, then I’ll head back first. I’m also taking the medicines with me since there have been quite a few people poisoned and injured recently."
After Pei Yuan left, Li Pan watched the videos of him making the high-level potions.
Instead of rushing to research other potions, she continued to make the mid-level Detoxification Potions and high-level Detoxification Potions, the more proficient, the better, as experience was always useful.
As spring plowing was unknowingly completed, Li Pan stopped in her tracks, not in a hurry to study other high-level potions.
She still purified and provided superpower to the spirit plants at several farms every day, soothing their little moods, and playing with them; life returned to its normal rhythm.
She knew the Base Commander and the others were anxious for more varieties of high-level potions and had high expectations for her, but she still paused.
She started making basic level potions again, aiming for skillfulness and a one hundred percent success rate, without wasting a single medicinal material.
Inspired and influenced by her, Xie Ling also diligently made basic level potions, not rushing to research mid-level potions.
When they achieved a one hundred percent success rate with the basic level potions, the two seemed to make a new discovery.
Only then did they start making other mid-level potions; this time, Li Pan made the Awakening Potion, and Xie Ling made the mid-level Detoxification Potion.
Indeed, this simple and seemingly foolish method proved to be extremely effective, as quantitative change led to qualitative change.
This time, the mid-level Awakening Potion was successfully created quite smoothly after only failing about a dozen times, which even Li Pan could hardly believe.
She, as usual, had it tested to verify the effects, and the results were exceedingly good. She made ten vials of Awakening Potion, and without exception, all succeeded, bringing great joy to the Base Commander.
Following her usual practice, she began to study the high-level Awakening Potion. This time the potion recipe was different; it required Soul Cleansing Fruit and Five Elements Spiritual Fruit. These were two separate formulas and either could be used, but using the Five Elements Spiritual Fruit yielded better effects with virtually no failure rate.
The Five Elements Spiritual Fruit could still fail; it wasn’t infallible, which was also why people were cautious about awakening the elderly with it. They would use it only on the young and strong; even those in their thirties were considered too risky to consume the Five Elements Spiritual Fruit for fear of wasting resources.
Li Pan wanted to make both types of Awakening Potions and compare their effects. She couldn’t rely on just one type as the Five Elements Spiritual Fruit was scarce.
Last year there was no yield, and this year it bore fruit but it wasn’t ripe yet; she would have to wait. For now, she decided to use the Soul Cleansing Fruit.
She planned to use three fruits to attempt the high-level Awakening Potion. Failing too many times would be too wasteful.
She purposefully rested for a month, adjusting her body to its optimal peak condition. She informed everyone to not disturb her unless it was important.
With everything prepared, she began researching the high-level Awakening Potion.
The first one failed, unsurprisingly, but it wasn’t too bad; it seemed to only lack the final step of fusion.
On the second attempt, she succeeded, but the test indicated it was of fair quality, meaning the impurities had not been thoroughly removed.
The third attempt was truly a success, and it was rated as excellent.
This time Li Pan had experience on her side; her previous consideration of finding the channel for the Fusion Factor was correct.
She seized the moment by immediately making ten bottles of Awakening Potion, and without exception, all were successful and rated as excellent.
Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief. The methods she had been using for creating Basic and Middle-level Potions were correct—the more practiced she became, the more familiar she was with each channel of the Fusion Factor, making it convenient and fast to locate without losing effective components of the medicine. This method was right.
The rest of her time was spent making Middle-level Healing Potions and several other medicines, planning to complete them all.
The Five Elements Spiritual Fruits were not yet ripe, and the second formula for High-level Potions couldn’t be produced temporarily due to the lack of main Medicinal Materials.
Now she began to research Healing Potions, which were in great demand. There were several formulas tailored to specific diseases, mainly used by Water doctors for their patients.
When Li Pan lifted her head from her work in the Potion room, she realized summer had arrived. She had successfully researched all the Middle-level Potions, with every test report coming back excellent, and had even developed three types of High-level Potions, including Detoxification, Awakening, and Healing.
The Healing Potions were not comprehensive; the Base only had three types, which Li Pan also developed. These formulas were given to her by Sister Qian and Pei Yuan of the Base; she succeeded because she was building on the successful experiences of those before her, so it wasn’t considered much of an achievement.
The Base had now started to place long-term orders for the farm’s potions, adding an extra resource and helping many people awaken their superpowers. Currently, most were young people, aged between fifteen and twenty-five, with some around thirty, but they required High-level Awakening Potions, and only those made by Li Pan would suffice.
Her superpower was of the Wood Element, imbued with Life Force factors, offering high vitality and almost no failure rate. The potions produced on her farm were particularly expensive, but it wasn’t she who set the prices; she had no authority to do so. It was the imperial capital above that dictated them.
Prices were determined by the medicine’s effectiveness and success rate, with strict grading. Undercharging could lead to an investigation, considered as corruption or malfeasance, which she couldn’t afford to risk.
Based on the effectiveness of Li Pan’s products, the Base Commander set prices before sending several types of her potions to the imperial capital for approval. If the prices were deemed too low, they would have to be increased.
There were many considerations involved, and not all were the responsibility of the Base Commander. The significance of the Potions was almost on par with the Elixirs described in books, entwined with huge interests.
The pricing authority lay with those higher up. You could set your own prices initially, but selling at low prices that disrupted the market could lead to severe penalties, including imprisonment.
Li Pan wanted to start investigating recipes from the imperial capital’s network. She had a feeling that the potions not available at the Base were the most precious and also the ones with the most challenging formulas.
If she could break through these formulations, it would be of vital importance to both the Base and the farm.
The nurturing of Spirit Plants was meticulous. Xie Ling and Tian Yi were particularly concerned, implementing even stricter management of the Medicinal Materials, with required signatures, handprints, and camera recordings kept for over three months.
Tian Yi and Zhang Qi had successfully created Basic Level Potions, which increased production. With the increased quantity, the price of Basic Level Potions dropped slightly, enough for common folks to afford them. More warriors used Basic Level Potions as they were cost-effective and affordable.
Li Pan continued to research potions from the imperial capital, pondering over the formulas based on her own experiences. Her farm’s range of Medicinal Materials was rich, almost having everything needed. The only thing left was for her to start the trial-and-error process herself.
Autumn arrived, and with it the harvest season. She put aside the potion work to help everyone tidy up and purify the plants. After a large-scale harvest, the soil required fertilization, and Spirit Trees needed transplanting. Dividers between fields were also planted with Spirit Trees to improve the soil and climate, which was very beneficial to the land.
This year, the farm’s harvest was exceptionally bountiful, with orders so numerous they were overwhelming. Goods were packed and shipped off immediately, and the final payments were swiftly deposited into the accounts.
"Pan’er, I have something to discuss with you."
Xue Dong came to Li Pan to discuss matters.
