After Apocalypse, I Got Rich With Superpower

Chapter 119: Chapter 117 Good News

Li Pan pursed her lips without a word, "Sorry, Mr. Zhang, I’m not interested in your proposal, and as for the installation of the aiming point, you should talk to the Base Commander, I don’t have a say in this. My farm isn’t short on funds, so you don’t need to worry about me. Please stop bothering me."

Feeling gloomy, she put the matter out of her mind and concentrated on continuing her work. She checked the medicinal materials in the woodland one by one, infused them with superpower, and just waited for a few months until these medicinal materials could be harvested and resupplied to No.9 Farm.

The cheese and milk powder equipment installed in No.7 Farm had started trial operation. Right now, the main focus was to first produce some products to see what deficiencies there were. Official production might have to wait until after tomorrow. Cheesemaking also required time to ferment and there were other issues like testing for food safety, among an array of problems.

Currently handling various licenses and certificates, it was Gao Wenbin and Shi Lei among a few others who were responsible for this matter. It wasn’t complicated, but rather tedious and meticulous.

New employees were also hired at the store to help Yang Zhengfei.

Some ordinary women were hired to work as temporary workers in the kitchen, responsible for food preparation, signing contracts annually, and free to resign and leave if they informed half a month in advance; meals were provided but not accommodation, which was their own request since they had a place to live.

They were in charge of assisting Yang Zhengfei with miscellaneous tasks like serving customers, cleaning, and washing chickens and ducks, working at the store’s backyard rather than entering the farm.

The raw materials for the roast meat shop were all from the farm’s breeding area, raised on wheat straw and grains, genuine free-range poultry, which tasted very aromatic when cooked.

With the store’s expansion, naturally more people were hired for miscellaneous tasks. Yang Zhengfei and Gu Yun were overwhelmed, and other farm members couldn’t help them out anymore. Gao Wenbin believed that everyone should gradually become independent and not muddle everything together.

The elder members didn’t mind extra work, but the new workers might feel differently, possibly complaining internally, "I work more but don’t get paid more, and my bonus shouldn’t be taken into account as a reward," which over time could lead to resentment and complicate management.

Moreover, he was quite optimistic about Yang Zhengfei and Zhang Qi among others, intending to cultivate their independence, hoping they could stand on their own as they were the farm’s future management talent.

These people were under the management of Yang Zhengfei and Gu Yun, staff dedicated to the store, with records and salaries processed separately for independent operations.

Zhang Qi was currently in charge as a supervisor, but he also had his hands full with management tasks at No.8 Farm. Eventually, Qin Jianzhong planned to hand over No.8 Farm to him, as Qin Jianzhong would take charge of the small factory handling cheese washing at No.7 Farm.

Shi Lei, Jiao Ming, and others were also in charge of different affairs. Wenwen and Xie Ling focused on finance and operations. After all, finances are crucial. As they were considered family, they were trustworthy. Neither Li Pan nor Xue Dong would agree to let others handle the money.

Cui Yanjun was expected to manage the field crops and specifics like harvest, while Liu Qian would be responsible for the security of No. 7 and No. 8 Farms, also handling personnel management. Zhang Qi, for now, was in charge of the sales of No.7 and No.8 Farms.

The responsibilities were growing as each elder underwent more obligations. Without the need for Li Pan’s reminders, everyone conscientiously supplemented each other’s work.

With increasingly numerous crops of No. 7 and No. 8 Farms, there were mature crops or processed goods to be sold every month; they needed to reach out for sales and expand the market.

Zhang Qi had already visited the two nearest base cities to promote the farm’s products, an opportunity given by the Base Commander.

He successfully signed several orders. After running between the two bases for nearly a month, he brought back fifty thousand in deposits. The rest, totaling three million, would be paid on delivery.

This job suited his personality, and so far, he was doing very well.

As for East Mountain Base, there was no need for Zhang Qi to go; they had directly ordered a variety of crops, vegetables, and fruits from Panpan Farm and paid half the deposit upfront, easing Li Pan’s troubles.

Everyone was striving to commit wholeheartedly to the farm, especially the elders. Even Xie Ling, with the children from the orphanage, distributed flyers, promoting the farm’s produce and the store’s roasted meats door to door.

In July, after three days of torrential rain, the abundant energy from the rain was palpable. As a High Level Wood Power User, she could already feel the abundance of energy in the air, though there was also a lot of violent energy.

Once the rain stopped, she rushed out immediately to check on the Spirit Plants in the woods.

Looking at the trees in front of her, her eyes widened in shock. The Earth Dragon Fruit glowed with a reddish-gold sheen and had moved away from its original planting spot, now far away from the Five Elements Fruit.

And it had already borne fruit, also in a reddish-gold color, roughly the size of a peach.

This tree had grown towering into the clouds, long shedding its appearance as a sapling; it had become an adult tree, and could even move on its own.

Disliking the proximity to the Five Elements Fruit, which was competing for energy, it moved itself somewhere else.

Seeing her arrive, it extended its branches to tug at the hem of her clothes, shaking as if trying to air grievances. It pointed to the Five Elements Fruit with its branches, implying that it had lost the battle for territory to the fruit and, feeling bullied, decided to move away.

Li Pan burst into laughter, surprised that the Five Elements Fruit was so powerful it even outcompeted the Earth Dragon Fruit.

She released spiritual power accompanied by superpower to soothe it and also used her hand to gently caress the trunk, soothing it as one would comfort a child.

The Earth Dragon Fruit especially enjoyed such back-and-forth caresses on its trunk, happily interacting with her.

It even proactively offered its ripened Earth Dragon Fruit into her hands.

Li Pan sniffed the fruit; it had a sweet and fragrant scent, likely fully ripe by now, so she stored it in her space to see who might want it later.

After playing with the Earth Dragon Fruit for a good while, she went to find the Five Elements Fruit and consoled it too, explaining that she only struck the Earth Dragon Fruit because it had used its branches to whip the Five Elements Fruit, nearly knocking the fruits off.

Li Pan couldn’t stop laughing; she hurriedly coddled this precious entity which also seemed to have been wronged.

A fruit from the Five Elements Fruit had ripened, but it didn’t look like a fruit she had imagined. Instead, it was a small, jewel-like fruit, about the size of a cherry. It was a bit hard to the touch and seemed to contain something like a small flame inside, feeling slightly warm when touched.

The Five Elements Fruit told her that eating this could grant one Fire Power superpower.

Li Pan’s eyes lit up, but she had no intention of eating it herself. Having Wood Element was enough for her; she intended to focus on studying and developing the Wood Element, not coveting more.

But who would dare to cooperate with her for this experiment and consume it?

She decided to call the Base Commander first.

"Uncle Wang, it’s Pan’er. I have something to discuss with you; are you available?"

"I’m free right now; go ahead."

"Could you come over to No. 8 Farm? There’s a small matter I’d like to talk to you about in person, and I’d like to treat you to a meal."

"Sure, I’ll be there in ten minutes."

The Base Commander did not hesitate at all and agreed to come immediately.

He gathered the documents on his desk, locked them up, and then used a teleportation portal to reach No. 8 Farm.

Li Pan was waiting for him at the entrance.

"Uncle Wang, the Five Elements Spiritual Fruit has matured, and I’ve got a fruit. There’s a new development that I need to report to you, come with me."

She eagerly pulled the Base Commander toward the forest area.

The forest area had already been planted with climbing vines and Star Trees, serving as guardians at the entrance; other than Li Pan, nobody else went up there.
