After Apocalypse, I Got Rich With Superpower
Chapter 118 - 116: Knocking on the Door

Chapter 118: Chapter 116: Knocking on the Door

The express delivery business was handled quite professionally, and Li Pan continued to take care of her delicate Spirit Plants and Medicinal Materials as usual.

The kids were energetic, hopping up and down as they renovated the grocery store slightly, dividing it into two rooms and merging it with the neighboring barbecue shop, thereby expanding it.

The grocery store kept a counter, displaying various kinds of alcohol and sauces, and bread was also placed in the refrigerated display for customers to choose from. Customers could place orders and have the delivery person deliver their goods.

The barbecue shop added some new items to its inventory, such as more marinated meat products, as well as roasted pork belly, roasted chicken, roasted duck, and roasted goose, all of which could be sliced, boxed, and delivered. They also added a counter to sell bread.

The transportation time was especially fast, and it didn’t take long to deliver directly to the homes of the base residents, and food could still be kept warm.

With the addition of express delivery, the mobile app introduced a new feature for ordering and meal delivery with detailed instructions, the software being a product of the base’s research.

Everyone updated and downloaded this app, and the residents were very interested. Spending a small amount of money could save them time and allow them to buy better things, which was quite good.

Although the residents felt that round-trip transportation costs were a bit pricey, they found it acceptable since it saved quite a bit of time and didn’t interfere with work, which was an advantage.

After two months of training the delivery personnel in work procedures and attitude issues, they were ready to assume their positions.

At first, many people felt that the delivery fees were expensive, and not many residents ordered meals.

However, the staff delivering vegetables were transported frequently; the businesses were able to run back and forth conveniently between the base and the Farmer’s Market.

Those working at the Farmer’s Market and nearby farms specifically spent money on monthly passes. Issuing cards for them came with discounts, allowing for roundtrip transportation to be as cheap as one yuan.

This was the same price as taking the bus, and everyone felt it was faster, more convenient, and a good deal.

But buses still had routes to run, and it wasn’t only about getting to the Farmer’s Market. New routes had been developed to connect the left and right sides of the base and the rural villages on the outskirts, running farther and farther away. The bus fare was determined according to the distance traveled.

The three bases teamed up, using the existing bus stations to sell tickets, and people boarded the buses to commute between the nearby three bases, exchanging resources and making travel convenient for each other.

As for space teleportation, currently, Li Pan was unable to transport over such great distances, limited to only nearby areas around her own base. Anything too far was unfeasible.

After the introduction of express delivery, Zhang Qi had the orphanage kids distribute promotional flyers for their shop after school to encourage more orders.

The shop also offered discounts, providing a coupon for orders over a certain amount. Those who ordered more could save several yuan at once, effectively saving on delivery costs.

So far, Panpan Farm’s store had the best sales volume, followed closely by the stores selling wholesale vegetables and fruits, which offered discounts on large quantities.

The first to try out the transportation system were shop staff and people who needed to procure and deliver goods; they were the early adopters.

It then gradually caught on, and residents, who found it convenient and weren’t bothered by the few extra yuan, were willing to try out the transport. Discovering its speed and convenience and the ease it brought to shopping, it slowly gained popularity and expanded.

The rich district approached the Base Commander several times, hoping to find a location in the wealthy area for teleportation, to facilitate easier visits back and forth.

Exiting the Farmer’s Market leads straight into the rural wilderness, and venturing further takes you to the roads leading to other cities—connecting in all directions, saving several hours, or even a whole day’s time.

But the Base Commander hadn’t agreed yet, and it wasn’t because of Li Pan.

Li Pan had made a small advancement, allowing her to set an additional Space Aim Point, extending nearly twenty kilometers farther than before, a change she had already notified the Base Commander about, giving him the freedom to arrange as he saw fit.

The reason he didn’t agree was that the Base Commander wasn’t happy about these few rich households, who lacked compassion for others, bustling about and haggling conditions back and forth. They had caused their fair share of trouble for him in the past, and he was reluctant to accommodate them now.

This was something for the Base Commander to worry about and had little to do with Li Pan.

The houses and yards they had purchased at the base were all fully renovated. Everyone took some time to check out the renovations and furniture, which were quite pleasing, and everyone excitedly planned which rooms they would settle into.

For now, only the veteran members like Qin Jianzhong, Shi Lei, Xie Ling, and Zhang Qi could live in these houses, and the new workers of No.9 Farm didn’t have this privilege. This principle was set by Xue Dong, who decreed that staying would be free for outstanding employees who had worked for two full years and earned their place in the base’s employee dormitories.

Currently, only the veterans mentioned had chosen their desired rooms and moved in. On their days off, they could return to the base or visit a neighboring base for leisure and shopping.

A small courtyard was also reserved for Li Pan and Xue Dong with two rooms each. This courtyard was beautifully maintained by everyone, with grape trellises and wisteria on the pergolas.

The courtyard also boasted a Star Tree, Xie Ling’s Spiritual Peach, which was growing splendidly, Zhang Qi’s thorny vines for defense, and a lovely flower wall everyone adored with various colored roses, Phoenix Wood, Begonia, Peony, tea flowers, and other flowering plants. There were also ordinary fruit trees like peach and apricot trees planted alongside mint and herbs such as lemongrass and rosemary.

They didn’t plant vegetables as most were too busy for gardening and could bring fresh produce during deliveries. A little superpower from Wood Power Users to keep the flowers from wilting sufficed, and with crops readily available from the farm, there was no regret about potentially wasting that space. They opted for flowers and fruit trees instead, as the children enjoyed watching the pretty blossoms.

Liu Hu’s house was also sorted out, and a few rooms in their dorms were still vacant, furnished with beds to reserve for future outstanding employees.

With housing settled, vacation plans were in place. Employees took turns taking leave and could enjoy their rest days however they wished. Everyone had paid vacation days each month without salary deduction, and there were overtime bonuses during holidays.

During the busy farming seasons, bonuses were issued based on the farm’s profits. Panpan Farm’s benefits had always been the best, and even the later employees, having worked less than three months, had already received a bonus of no less than two thousand yuan, much to everyone’s satisfaction.

Li Pan was playing with the Spirit Plants in the woods and supplying superpower for work when she suddenly received a mysterious phone call.

After hesitating for a moment, she answered.

"Hello, who’s this?"

"Hello, I am Zhang Ye from Zone 13. I would like to discuss space transportation with you, specifically setting up transport between the Farmer’s Market and the base. Here in Zone 13, we’re also looking for an Aim Point. Let me know your price—as far as money is concerned, that’s not an issue for us."

The caller was straightforward with his request.

Li Pan blinked, unsure who Zhang Ye was since she didn’t know him.

"I’m sorry, but the transport points have to adhere to the base’s arrangements. I can’t install them privately without the Base Commander’s order. Installation requires the Base Commander’s approval."

"Young lady, let’s not be too rigid. We can negotiate. As I understand, you’ve taken over No.9 Farm and are in need of funds. Your financial situation isn’t too affluent, and relying solely on the Base Commander to support you is quite strenuous. I’m not asking for much—just looking for the convenience of a transport Aim Point. What if I offer you five million for it? Let’s consider it a way to strike up a friendship. I also admire your personal capabilities."
