Chapter 92: GET OUT OF MY ROOM
"Oh my goodness, Astrid!" they exclaimed, rushing to her side as she collapsed to the ground, her face slick with sweat and her words barely audible.
Julian’s instincts kicked in, and he swiftly wrapped his arms around her, lifting her. "Hospital?" he asked, an alarm etched on his face. She shook her head and he was more worried about this.
"Is she sick? The doctor never mentioned any health issues." he thought not knowing what to do.
Astrid’s sudden collapse brought back memories of the last time she had come home this way to Julian, but he remained silent, focusing on supporting her.
He guided her to her room, his mind racing with questions. Why did she leave the office early? What was wrong?
"Astrid, what’s going on?" Maren asked concern etched on his face. "You left work suddenly and now this. What happened?"
Astrid’s flat response, "Nothing," only heightened Julian’s worry. They both understood she wasn’t ready to talk.
"I told you, we can’t just bombard her with questions, seeing her like this," Julian cautioned.
Julian nodded, about to help her get water but Astrid grasped his hand. "I... I..." she mumbled, unable to finish.
Inside, Astrid longed to embrace Julian, confess her fears, and beg for comfort.
Her mother’s life hung in the balance, with a 50-50 chance of survival thanks to expensive treatments. But her father’s behavior made things worse.
Astrid’s thoughts swirled: Should she confide in Julian or keep quiet, fearing he’d see her as a gold digger? Revealing her struggles might change his perception of her.
"Astrid, you can tell me anything," Julian said, concern etched on his face. "If I can help, I will. Don’t keep things to yourself."
Astrid took a deep breath, her eyes locking onto Julian’s. Without warning, she wrapped her arms around him, holding him tight as tears streamed down her face.
The thought of almost losing her mum swirled in her head. She doesn’t want to lose her mum, she loves her mum so much.
She is the only one who cared for her so much, the horror of doing that is not something she never wanted to think about.
Julian sat there, comforting her, though unsure what was wrong. Minutes passed, with Astrid’s tears subsiding into silent sobs.
Just then, Julian’s phone buzzed. "Boss, you have a meeting with the president. He specifically requested you today." Julian stared at Astrid and sent her back.
"Reschedule," Julian replied. "I won’t be available."
Just then Maren asked, "Did Stephan do something to you?"
Astrid’s eyes widened, alarmed. She didn’t want to cause tension between Julian and Stephan.
"No, nothing happened between us," Astrid assured, her words tumbling out anxiously.
Julian’s expression turned stern. "You think I would doubt you, don’t you?"
"I am serious, nothing happened," Astrid emphasized. "You don’t have to worry."
Julian’s gaze softened. "I trust you, Astrid. But I’ll always protect you."
"Thanks for..." She stopped talking when Julia showed her the video of where she was being manhandled by the men.
She already trampled her thoughts she had tried to forget about it, but watching the video made her run down her body.
"Oh my goodness, Julian, what is this?" Maren’s voice bellowed as she watched this, her eyes gazing upon Astrid wondering why she keeps things to herself so much.
"Tell me every single one involved in this video else the video might viral.."
" Are you threatening her about the silly video?" Maren’s voice yelled as she snatched her phone from him, turning off the video.
"Perhaps this would be told to the one that is really behind the video.." Julina barked.
"I don’t know them, they forced me inside the building because I lost my way when Stephan came to pick me up," she lied, she already stands on business that she can’t ruin their friendship.
"So how do you find your way out of the building?" Julian fired back not believing a word she had just said.
"Julian I don’t ask you about your business I let you be, so please can you let this die down? I don’t want to hear about it today. It’s in the past I don’t want to be reminded of my pains," she let out
Julian seethed with anger, his investigator’s revelation burning in his mind. Someone had tampered with the leasing cottage videos, which meant Miles was involved.
"Would you have shut him down if Miles asked you?" Julian’s tone turned icy, his eyes narrowing.
Maren sensed the escalating tension and knew it was time to leave. "I will give you two some space," she said, discreetly exiting the room.
Astrid’s sudden outburst caught Julian off guard. "You don’t want me, so don’t tell me what to do! Get out of my room!"
Julian’s eyes widened. "Wh... what?"
"You heard me right! Get out!" Astrid’s voice rose.
Julian bit his lip "Fine!" and stormed out of the room.
His phone rang, and he answered without checking the caller ID.
"Boss, I think we should reconsider losing this opportunity. He has valuable ideas, and investing with him will yield significant profits. Can you find a way to attend the meeting?"
"I will," Julian replied curtly, hanging up.
Still fuming, Julian turned to Maren. "What is it?"
Maren hesitated. "Julian, I have an urgent meeting. Will you be able to take care of Astrid?"
Julian rolled his eyes. "Handle it, Maren. I have more pressing matters."
Maren’s expression turned concerned. "Julian, maybe you should.."
"Not now, Maren," Julian interrupted, striding away.
"She’s an adult, she should be able to take care of herself. She has been doing it before she gets married to me. I don’t fucking care about whatever shit she’s gonna do."
Julian walked into his room going to dress up. He was furious, one minute she wanted him another minute she wanted to stay away from him.
This was getting him pissed off, he just wanted her heart. Why is that so hard for him to get? And why the fuck is he beginning to care for her heart?
"He got dressed up and walked past her room. He stared at it for a while and knocked on it.
There was no response and he pushed the door open, she sat there wrapped in a pillow as she stared at him.
"You heard me knocking,"
"And I didn’t care about it, just let me for now." She was frustrated and guilty with the way she had responded to him.
"Yeah, I am about to do that... have a nice day," he announced and slammed the door. But he can’t help but be worried about her, seeing those looks have a lot of meaning.
He needs to find out what happened himself even though she isn’t willing to give it out.
He walked out to see Maren also standing outside, " I saw you called your friend is supposed to be with her,"
"She is my friend, I should be with her, but have you forgotten? I am the corny little bitch, which climbs up to the Richmond bed." Julian stared at her for a while and sighed as he looked back into the mansion.
He was caught in between the two, "She wants to be alone, allow her to be... you going to stay there with her will infuriate her more," with that snares got into her car driving off.
He went back into the mansion and called on the head maid, "Good morning boss,"
"Take care of my wife, she needs it so much now and I can’t be with her but will be back so early."
With that he drove out of the mansion, he was so lost in thought that he didn’t know another car had just driven into his mansion.
As Mattie’s car pulled up, the guards rushed to her, their faces etched with concern. "Ma’am, why are you here?" they asked, knowing about her contentious relationship with their boss.
Mattie brushed past them, her heels clicking on the pavement. "I’m here to make amends with someone I’ve wronged," she said, her voice dripping with sweetness.
Inside, the maids greeted her with a mix of curiosity and apprehension. "Ma’am, the boss just left," one of them ventured.
Mattie’s smile grew wider. "I am not here to see him. I am here to speak with someone else."
A maid, Emma, hesitated. "But, ma’am, the boss said.."
Mattie’s gaze turned icy, and she slapped Emma across the face. "Speak one more word against me, and I’ll make your life miserable. Understand?"
The maids exchanged nervous glances, swallowing hard. "We... we understand," they chorused.
Mattie’s attention shifted to the food Emma held. "I’ll take that to her myself."
Emma hesitated, but Mattie’s glare silenced her. "Give me the tray. I’ll make sure Astrid receives it personally."
As Emma handed over the tray, Mattie’s eyes locked onto the food. She waited until Emma turned to leave before swiftly slipping into the kitchen.
With the maids distracted, Mattie quickly rummaged through the kitchen drawers, finding a small vial of poison she had planted earlier. She poured the contents into the soup, stirring it with a spoon.
Returning to the hallway, Mattie intercepted Emma. "Take this to Astrid’s room. And don’t say a word to her."
Emma’s eyes widened, but Mattie’s stern expression kept her silent. "Yes, ma’am."
As Emma carried the poisoned food to Astrid’s room, Mattie smiled to herself. Her plan was set in motion.
If she wasn’t ready to let her man go, then she would find a way to let her out of their life forever.
