Accidental Marriage With Mr Billioniare
Chapter 85: PRIVATE CHAT WITH DESMOND

Chapter 85: PRIVATE CHAT WITH DESMOND

The Logans savored their breakfast in the dining room, spoons clinking against plates.

Desmond’s warm gaze turned to Astrid. "Astrid, how’s your health? Hope you’re doing well?"

Astrid’s smile faltered, her eyes darting to Desmond. "It’s getting better," she responded. She felt inferior, intimidated by his commanding presence.

Maren sat beside Astrid, Julian to her right. "Thanks for caring for her as we would," Leila said. "We worried she would face unfair treatment due to... circumstances."

Desmond’s leg twitches, his interest piqued. "The one she was supposed to marry?"

Astrid’s fork halted mid-air, her family’s gaze fixed on Desmond just the mention of these words.

While Josh’s eyes narrowed. "What happened?"

Desmond sipped his water, the silence stretching like an eternity. "Haven’t heard from him, or... they were arranged partners."

Julian’s curiosity sparked at this. He tried investigating, but his team found nothing.

Astrid opened her mouth to speak, but her father, Josh, interrupted.

"They were childhood lovers... and"

Josh’s gaze locked onto Astrid, Julian’s fist clenched across his fork.

"I don’t know if they still communicate, but he was furious that day... Everything went wrong."

Astrid’s hands trembled, her father’s lies stabbing her heart.

Desmond’s eyes narrowed. "Furious? What happened?"

Josh’s smile masked his deceit. "Yeah, it was a day to remember. Astrid, don’t you agree?"

Astrid’s eyes flashed with anger, her voice trapped.

Maren sensed the tension. "Let’s focus on Astrid’s well-being."

Julian’s gaze lingered on Astrid, suspicion brewing.

She was getting furious at the thought that she couldn’t say no to this. She still didn’t have a strong stand in the rich household so shouldn’t shoot herself in the leg.

She stuffed food into her mouth, while Julian on the other hand, was mad at the thought that she had a childhood sweetheart to whom she was about to get married, and wasn’t happy with this.

"So... Astrid," Julsin called and she shit Her eyes knowing what he wasn’t going to ask her.

"Are you both still communicating?" Astrid shook her head immediately as her eyes met with her father who smirked.

"How do you think I should trust you," Astrid scoffed at this, glancing at him only then did she notice how he was glaring at her.

"You can choose whatever you want to think if you don’t trust me, not like you like me anyways to be worried about that." The whole room turned silent as Maren legged out a small chuckle.

Their gaze met with Julian’s shocking one while Astrid just proved with her food.

Until Desmond broke the silence again, "We all know Julian loves Msttie so much." Astrid food stops midways as she takes in a deep breath and then shovels her food into her mouth again, infuriated at the thought he loves her so much.

"But..." Everyone glanced at Desmond, wondering ehatbhebis about to say.

"How about the contract which I am about to mark with your father, which is bound legally with your marriage certificate?"

"Dad?"

"You both abandoned your loved one once and got married to one another and it seems you are getting along already," he defended but Julain was satisfied with this choice even though he couldn’t still explain his feelings.

"Since we abandoned our loved ones doesn’t mean we don’t love them, you and Mother lived with one another before getting married," Desmond nodded his head not saying much.

"How about we do it this way?" he asked, catching their attention one more time.

"We wait till after a year and I wouldn’t force you to be married to one another if you still don’t have feelings for one another."

"Mr. Logan.."

"You can call me father," he cut her off and she was speechless at how he easily wanted her to call him father.

Her eyes met with Josh who was hurrying her to do what he asked, if only he knew her words might contradict his chances.

"Dad... why can’t your partnership be based on a contract? And not involved in it without marriage?"

Desmond smiled at this, "You must have loved your childhood lover so much that you don’t care about your father’s business, despite knowing it might go bankrupt soon."

Astrid smiled at this, "Actually I want you to be sure about your partner before you sign the contract with him."

"And that is what I want, one of his valuables, that his life depends on sticking with me," everyone was surprised with how Astrid was matching Desmond’s temperament.

Just his wife and son can, everyone around him is so scared of him that they could speak two after he had spoken a few words but when he spoke everyone followed.

"Then if you are going to trust your partner blindly without having a contract that states the chances of revival if he happens not to follow the rules," she paused and glared at Josh whose face was clenching ready to stroke her any moment he had.

"I will advise you not to partner with him and just stick with making him your father-in-law."

"Astrid!" Josh yelled and Leila was quick to calm him down, Astrid let out a smirk and continued saying her food as if she hadn’t just ruined her father’s chances.

"Mr Logan, she has always been a chaotic child. I am so sorry if she spoke to you that way... she.."

Desmond raised his hand gesturing for him to halt his speech.

Desmond stood from his seat and Julian already had fear in his eyes as his father’s gaze bored into that of Astrid.

"Let’s talk," Julian stood up already in fright, big he gestured for Julian not to move.

"I mean just me and Astrid,"

"Honey, why the sudden private speech?" Becky asked and he smiled at his wife, "You don’t have to get worried."

"We will be fine," he told her and walked out of the dining

Astrid sighed and followed through with Josh’s heart beating so fast.

He knows all the wrongs he had done to Astrid and is very sure she wouldn’t want to say good things about him.

She hated lies, manipulation, and deceit. She knows about all his cunning ways.

She might be a drop but she is very smart, he had been the one behind them not giving her a job and would always find one or two ways to ruin her.

She stopped searching for good opportunities and decided to limit herself to the waiter and other little jobs she could use to fend for herself

She refused to enjoy his money and would make her life so hard because of this.

She might be gentle and calm but he knew when she blows up she can’t be controlled.

He knows and is envious of his daughter. She always finds her way out of trouble but would act like a fool to fool you.

Desmond walked into an empty room with Astrid and then gestured for her to shut the door.

She did as told as she stood by the door with her head lowered.

The room was so silent for a while that he needed to look up to be sure that he was still in the room and the gadget disappeared.

"You must hate your father so much," he stated and then she snorted a bit.

"If I say no, would you believe me, sir?" Desmond smiled at thus, he loved her straightforwardness.

He had watched him she wanted to frame Manny as revenge, she hated getting lied to but would never argue with the person.

"I won’t,"

"Yes, I hate him so much that I want to destroy everything h that would make him happy,"

She replied now so shocked by her response. "He is still your father,"

"I am saving you from the evil ones," She explained and he let out a chuckle.

"You are still not strong in the rich world and can’t have this kind of mindset," she snickered at this.

"I am a high school dropout. I don’t think I would be able to survive in the rich world anyway."

"So, are you planning on using my son to climb whatever ladder you want to climb?"

She smiled at this and bobbed her head making him squint his gaze in confusion.

"I am being told to do so by my close ones, though I am still thinking about it but haven’t concluded."

"You are interesting, and I would like someone like you to be in it," She looked up this time and Desmond moved closer to her.

Placing his hand on her hair he patted her head slowly, "I will think about the contract you said." he stated and walked out.

Astrid took in a deep breath after him and left and then suit eyes followed them as they both approached the living room where everyone was waiting for them now their appetite long lost.

"Mr. Logan, if she had said anything against me it must be because of the hatred she had against me and her mother. Please we can talk better."

"Well, Sorry Daniel.." Josh shut his eyes, losing hope. "I refused to listen to her and would still partner with you."

Astrid gasped in shock wanting to move toward Desmond but Julian was quick to grab her hands gesturing her not to move.

"Really? Josh asked excitedly and Desmond nodded his head.

"Wow, that’s great news. Thanks for testing my husband on this..."

"But," they all turned mute listening to his words next.

"Astrid will be the one to draft out the contract."
