Chapter 79: SAVING HER

What the fuck is going on here?" An unfamiliar voice asked and Stephan immediately let go of Astrid turning back to see who the introducer was.

"Rowan?" There he stood majestically, calling his hand in his pocket, everyone could tell from him that he was a proud soul, one reason why Julian disliked him so much.

"Why are you here?" Stephan asked furry boiling inside of him and just then Astrid pulled out her in shock running over to where Rowan stood and hid behind him.

"He... he is a monster," she whispered behind Rowan as she struggled to breathe.

She had seen death flash through in The past minutes and in her eyes for those seconds she couldn’t breathe.

Her stomach hurt but she wasn’t going to be near him, "Rowan back off, this is my fight so get out!" He orders strutting toward him.

Astrid’s hands tightened around his arms but he didn’t move an inch, "I have always told Julian that you’re nothing to be called a friend but he doesn’t believe me," Rowan stated and this halted Stephan’s steps.

"Anything I do... is for someone I cherished," Rowan affirmed wanting to pull Astrid’s arms as she widened her eyes and shifted back but before Stephan could take another step Rowan punched him backward.

"The beating I had made my men give to you the last time was just an iceberg, I will make you regret ever standing in front of me if you don’t mind yourself."

"Rowan! Stay out of this!" He yelled in frustration and Rowan smirked.

"A friend of mine is about to get attacked by a monster so why should I back off?" Stephan exchanged glances between Rowan and Astrid.

"What?"

"I almost did something crazy because of you but thank goodness I was quick to adjust and I already apologize," Rowan kicked Stephan on his knees making him fall on one knee.

"How dare you still try to kill Simone when you are a doctor?" Stephan groaned.

Rowan was about to kick him when Astrid stepped in, "Hey Rowan let him go," she whispered in their middle.

"Stephan please leave," she announced, gesturing for Stephan to stand up.

Rowan was mad at how she still treated him with the act of courtesy when he had almost taken her life.

"Let it be," Astrid announced and then Stephan leaked out after exchanging some glares with Astrid.

The moment he walked out Astrid’s leg went weak and she managed to glance up at him.

"Please don’t tell anyone about this I am fine," she announced, and I squinted my gaze but she gave me a serious glare.

Then she felt a sharp pain and fell on the floor, down quickly grasping her and trying to help her up that is when he noticed blood in his hand.

"Astrid?" Rowan calls in shock and the door bursts open with Miles storming inside.

"What the fuvk happened to her?" Miles pushed Rowan out of tand the cradle Astrid, "Call the fucking doctor!" Miles yelled and sprinted toward the need.

Julian Had been too scared to see her reaction to seeing him again so he just decided to keep his distance.

The doctors chased Miles out of the room as they were now attending to Astrid.

His heart thumped real hard, and fear crept in him, "What the heck are you doing in her room in the first place."

Miles’ voice raises as he asks Rowna the question, "Why do you think it’s an obligation to respond to you?"

"Rowan?"

"Stop blaming and correct the ones closer to you," Rowan cut Miles off as he was annoyed.

"She had pleaded with me not to tell anyone but I can’t continue to sit and watch."

"Stephan," Rowan called and Mike groaned in awe and annoyance, at the mention of his sister

"Astrid isn’t the type that says so much about herself, so if she is going through pain she wouldn’t."

"What did he do?"

"I don’t have much to say but I think it’s high time that you find some guards for her room and her special doctors so anyone wouldn’t just walk in without access.

The scene he had seen when he opened the door replayed in his head once more.

It’s crazy how she still didn’t want him to hurt that baster that had almost killed her.

"Take care of Astrid, and..." he snapped his finger, and a guard came forward with a bouquet.

"Who is that?" They heard a new voice come from behind and Rowan smiled.

"Heard the news of my business partner’s wife being rushed to the hospital," he answered with a small smile on his face.

Julian walked toward him and pulled the flower from Rowan.

"I will send this to her now leave," Julian ordered and Rowan smiled again.

"Send my regards to when she is stable.," Rowan walked and Julian moved to the bin through the flowers there.

Miles’ voice cut through the tension, "Get some guards."

Julian’s eyes snapped towards him, confusion etched on his face. "What’s going on?"

Miles revealed his bloody hand, a grim expression twisting his features. "The doctors are in Astrid’s room. She must have started bleeding from the surgical site."

Julian’s gaze darted to Astrid’s door, concern etched on his face. Without hesitation, he rushed into the room.

Miles shook his head, his eyes following Julian. As he turned to enter the room, a gentle tug on his hand halted him. He spun around to face the person.

There Maren stood before him, her beauty radiant despite the mask hiding her face. Her eyes, usually bright, seemed subdued.

For a moment, Miles simply stared. Then, his expression hardened, and he snatched his hand free.

"Call my name next time, don’t touch me," he warned, his tone biting.

Maren’s eyes dropped, embarrassment flickering across her face. "I... I didn’t mean to," she stammered.

Miles’ gaze narrowed. "What are you doing here?"

Maren’s shoulders fell, her voice barely above a whisper. "I came to see Astrid... too."

Miles’ expression remained skeptical. "You are the reason she’s in this state. I don’t think you should be here."

Maren’s eyes clouded, but she masked her pain. "That’s exactly why I need to apologize. To make things right."

Miles studied her, his face unreadable. Finally, he turned and walked into Astrid’s room, leaving Maren standing alone.

Mile’s heart broke as he entered the room. There he saw Julian holding Astrid close, kissing her tenderly.

The intimate scene felt like a punch to Miles’ gut. He struggled to breathe, his chest heavy with unrequited love.
