Accidental Marriage With Mr Billioniare -
Chapter 78: BREATHLESS
Chapter 78: BREATHLESS
He walked right in, and his eyes locked with that of Astrid who just sat there as if she hadn’t just gotten slapped.
Speechless he got closer to them, "What was that about?" he asked he was trying to keep his anger but that wasn’t working.
"I... a.... am only trying to correct her," Josh whispered as Nadine and Leila gulped nervously, seeing the furry emitting from him.
"Correct her by slapping someone who just regained consciousness in less than an hour?" His step slowly draws toward them and you can tell he is ready to flare up.
"She is my daughter. I get to correct her," Josh tried defending himself.
"She is my wife and no hands dare to touch her!" he growled and Astrid flickered her eyes in surprise.
He has been surprising her ever since she regained consciousness and she is still left in surprise because of this.
Defending her against her father? She never thought it would happen. "Hey..."
"Mind your tone with me, Mr. Daniels..." Julian cut him off and this made Josh terrified,
"Julian?" Astrid called, gaining his attention.
"It isn’t his fault, just let things go," she whispered and this made him even more mad.
She isn’t the type that takes pain like this seriously, he had noticed how she would just let go of things,
She almost died because of how she decided to mask her pain when Mattie pushed her from the stairs.
"Get out!" Julian announced and their eyes went wide, "But..."
"I said you should leave, she might be your daughter but my wife now, any more wrong I won’t hesitate to make you regret so leave now before I lose it all,"
Without another word, Josh stormed out of the room along with Leila while Nadine stayed back.
"You made Dad look like a bad person in front of your husband," Julian stared at Nadine, still trying to keep his calm.
"I am surprised with how you call her your wife even though you don’t know much about her," she added, staring at Julian.
"Leave" he instructed and Nadine smiled out and then glanced back at Astrid, "Let’s see how much you are going to keep pretending before he finds out the real you."
She also left, leaving the couple who had refused to look at one another immediately when the door was shut.
Astrid felt the guilt of the last statement made by Nadine. Despite hurting her several times they still felt they were on the right side and everything was her fault.
This is breaking her so bad but she can’t even share it with anyone, "I want to be alone," she announced and Julian sighed and then sat on the stool beside her bed.
"Why do you think I will do what you want?" she glanced at him and then rolled her eyes.
"Not like you care about me so please just leave,"
"You haven’t eaten and..." he ran his hand through his knowing how she wouldn’t be able to trust him anymore since what had transpired.
"There is no one in the hospital to stay with you, I chase Miles back if that is what you are thinking about," A small smile appeared on Astrid’s face at the mention of Miles and this hurt him so deeply.
"What? You care so much about him and are even showing it in front of your husband, isn’t that so disrespectful?"
"Whatever, just leave..." she stated as she started to loosen her hair and then let it down.
Julian didn’t miss how she had made sure to cover her cheek which was turning red.
He sighed and went to bring out an ice pack from the small fridge behind, he was about to touch her when she slapped his hands off.
"Don’t act like you care, it’s annoying me," she told him with glaring eyes.
"Astrid, you don’t expect me not to act like I care when I am your husband,"
"Then I don’t want it, let it be... there is no difference between you guys so?." he flickered his eyes at this.
"What?"
"You didn’t notice huh?"
"You don’t know the things your wife couldn’t do and just go with what she says."
"I am so sorry and that is what..." Astrid glanced to her side, seeing a small glass placed on it, she was more than mad now.
"Leave.." she let out again, Julian declined.
"Ast..."
"Astrid screamed again, "Get out of my room!"
He hesitated a bit, "But who’ll—"
Astrid slammed the glass cup to the floor, silencing him. He knew he had to leave.
Without another word, he turned and walked away from her bed. At the door, he gazed back at Astrid with sad eyes, "Don’t hesitate to call on me when you need me, your phone is there.." he added before exiting.
Astrid’s eyes welled up with tears as she recalled the scene of how she had been pushed and him supporting her.
She couldn’t trust him again, not after what he had done to her."
She remained lost in thought, her mind still reeling from her thought.
Then the sudden creak of the door broke the silence, and she turned to face the intruder.
A doctor walked in wearing a mask that concealed his identity. His eyes, the only visible feature, seemed to hold a sinister intent.
Curiosity mixed in Astrid as she wondered who this doctor was and why he was here now.
"Good morning," he said, his voice muffled by the mask. "I am here for your check-up."
His tone was detached, lacking the warmth, weirdly her instincts screamed warning signals.
"What do you need to check?" she asked, her voice laced with caution not responding to his greeting.
The doctor’s gaze lingered on her wrists. "Just a routine procedure. I will need to inject something as asked by your previous doctor."
Her heart skipped a beat. Something wasn’t right. The doctor’s demeanor, the mask, the sudden appearance all seemed weird.
She squinted her gaze trying to see if she could trust him. As he reached for her wrist, she caught a glimpse of his hand. A familiar tattoo on his wrist sparked recognition.
"Stephan!" she gasped, her eyes widening in horror.
With newfound strength, she smacked his jerky hands away, ripping off his mask. The face she knew all too well stared back, twisted in a malevolent grin.
"No... it can’t be!" she whispered, shock and terror wrestling for dominance.
"Why are you here?" she asked her heart racing, wondering if she could call anyone.
Stephan’s grip tightened around her wrist. She struggled, but his hold was unyielding.
"Don’t make this harder than it needs to be," he hissed, his eyes flashing with malice.
"Let me go! How did you even gain entrance to this room?" she cried out.
"I am a doctor if you don’t know," he replied.
He finally injected the unknown substance into her wrist. She fought, her body thrashing against the bed. But Stephan’s grip only intensified.
His hands closed around her throat, squeezing the air from her lungs. Panic set in as darkness began to creep into her vision.
"You should have never made her cry," Stephan’s voice whispered, his breath cold against her ear.
She could not struggle anymore And then, everything went black.
