Accidental Marriage With Mr Billioniare -
Chapter 66: HIS DOUBT
Chapter 66: HIS DOUBT
Astrid’s world crumbled as she gazed upon her mother’s frail form, lying pale and weak on the bed of the clinic with no urgent care for her.
The once vibrant woman now clung to life by a thread, and Astrid’s heart shattered into a million pieces.
She was beginning to do well in the past, all she had needed a few weeks ago was surgery to help with her fight against her cancer.
Desperation clawed at her chest, fueling her frustration. "She ran to the doctor.
"I want my mum transferred with immediate effect!" she yelled her heart clung for desperation.
Fear erupts in her heart, she doesn’t want to lose her mum, she loves her so dearly she can’t lose her.
Without another word the nurses began the process, they knew who she was and wouldn’t want to be in trouble with Logan, it was just a small clinic they thought.
Astrid knew she needed money, and fast, to save her mother’s life. The clock ticked away, each passing moment precious.
The nurse dialed the ambulance service, to help quicken the transfer.
Astrid hands shook as she provided the necessary information for her mum to be transferred.
"Please, hurry," she begged, her voice cracking.
The minutes ticked by like hours until the ambulance arrived. Astrid watched, her heart heavy, as the paramedics carefully transferred her mother onto the stretcher.
As they rushed to the nearest but expensive hospital, Astrid’s mind raced.
She knew the harsh reality, expensive medical bills, and her mother’s treatment wouldn’t come cheap.
The ambulance screeched to a halt outside the hospital. Astrid leaped out, following the paramedics as they wheeled her mother into the emergency room.
A nurse approached clipboard in hand, eyes sympathetic but firm.
"We need a deposit to begin treatment," she stated.
Astrid’s gut twisted, she didn’t have any money to call her own for now, all her savings had been given to her father so he could tell where her mum was.
She had no choice but to withdraw from the card she had been given by Julian.
She knew Julian would question any large withdrawals from the account but she needed to hide her mum from the world.
"I will take care of it," Astrid said, forcing confidence into her voice.
She rushed to the nearest ATM, her hands trembling as she withdrew a huge sum of money.
The machine churned out the cash, and Astrid stuffed it into her purse.
Back at the hospital, she handed over the deposit, her eyes locking onto the nurses.
"Please, save my mother," Astrid whispered. The nurse’s expression softened this time around after seeing the money.
"We will do everything we can," she promised.
Hours blurred together as Astrid waited, her anxiety spiking with each passing minute hoping and praying her mum didn’t lose it.
Finally, a doctor emerged, exhaustion etched on his face. "Astrid fan to him," her heart thumping real hard.
"Doctor... how... how is my mum?" she was forced out as her heart ticked like a timebomb.
"Your mother’s stable, but critical," he reported.
Astrid’s legs buckled, as she tried to swallow her fear, "She would be safe right?" she asked that was the only question she needed his response to.
"Yeah, if treated quickly," he answered.
"Thank you," she sobbed in relief.
The doctor’s expression turned somber, "We will need more funds for further treatment, for you know what kind of illness he is suffering from."
Astrid’s heart beat quickly in fear, "She needed more chemotherapy treatment and also another surgery because the sudden stop of treatment had made her condition critical."
Astrid steeled herself, knowing what lay ahead. "I will take care of it," she whispered
"Can I see her for now?" the doctor nodded his head, "once she has been transferred to the ICU," he answered.
Astrid sighed in relief thanking the doctor so much, her heart still in pain at how demonic her father could be to have done this to her mum.
Hours passed and Astrid finally saw her mum, she sat beside her mother’s hospital bed, holding her frail hand.
Tears streamed down her face, a mix of fear, and pain. She promised to save her mother, no matter the cost.
But as she gazed into her mother’s pale face, Astrid knew the road ahead would be long and treacherous.
But she would protect her mother, and herself, at all costs.

Julian on the other hand was done with his meeting and had just arrived home, when Larry informed him that Astrid was yet to be home
He was about to call her when Mattie called.
"Hello..."
"Babe guess what sweet information I had just gotten for you?" he was speechless, not knowing what response to give.
"Your so-called wife had purposely come into our ballroom to get our marriage destroyed because she wants to help her dad climb the wall of the rich."
Julian’s hands tightened against the phone, "How did you get this?"
"Well, I can send you a record done by Mum and him for a collaboration, since you have not been responding to his daughter."
"Mattie..." Julian felt his heart skip, why wasn’t he liking this news? He should be excited he could finally get over the so-called marriage if what Mattie had said was true.
"Her dad’s company is going down and the only way to get a better investor is to get married to a rich business tycoon."
Julian gulped down nervously at this, "To top it all... your wife came to her parent’s home today."
Julian took a deep breath at this, "Thanks for letting me know this," he let out and Mattie wasn’t satisfied with his response.
"Babe, don’t you trust me?" she asked, annoyed.
"Just let this be, I will take care of it," Julian replied.
"Julian, those people are only after your wealth and nothing else. Who in the name of excuse gets married to someone unknown and the parents are fine with it?"
"Mattie," but she cut him off.
"Where is the so-called husband she wanted to get married to? Why is he throwing a fit?
Julian’s mind raised back to the last time he went to their house, he could tell Josh was a greedy fellow at just a glance, the same as Astrid’s sister.
But then he recalled her words when she told him not to help her parents anymore, was it because of this? He thought.
Mattie’s whine pierced Julian’s ears. "Julian, you’re not responding!" she complained.
Julian sighed, his patience worn thin. "I will take care of it. Have a good night," he replied, swiftly ending the call.
His mind lingered on Astrid, and her so-called marriage, and the mysterious groom’s absence.
Why hadn’t Astrid’s goom intervened? Julian’s thoughts swirled.
She had seen him at the ceremony, before the commencement so why didn’t she stop it?
"No... she can’t do something like that," he assured himself.
His doubt crept in and he dialed Astrid’s number, but it went unanswered.
Multiple calls by the same result, Glancing at his watch, Julian’s concern grew.
3:00 AM and she hadn’t got home, worry etched his face.
Just as he prepared to leave for his room, a notification flashed on his phone.
A substantial withdrawal moved from his account and Julian’s hands trembled, not because the money would affect him but began to believe what Mattie had just told him.
"What is she up to?" he wondered. He redialed Astrid’s number, still no answer.
Desperation crept in as he finally took the bold step, he clicked on his investigator’s number only to see he blocked it.
"Fuck it," he grumbled recalling he had asked him then to investigate what had transpired in Paris.
He unblocked and then texted his investigator.
"Find out every single detail about Astrid Daniels."
