Chapter 61: SHE IS MAD
Chapter 61: SHE IS MAD
"Miles!" Astrid eyes were wide open with the way Miles had just punched his sister.
"Julian might not want to hurt you because he is a man, but I will do so as your brother!" Julian exclaimed, his chest heaving up and down.
"Mi..." Mattie was short of words, her hand laced on her face as she stared at her brother.
Julian also could only watch in shock seeing the way Miles had slapped Mattie, he never loses his temper, and this wasn’t sitting right with him.
"I warned you last time, don’t make me show you my other side."
"You just slapped me because of this silly girl who you just met a few weeks ago?"
Tears welled up in her eyes, her brother just smacked her in front of Astrid and Manny, what thought would be going on in their head?
Astrid sneezed and this got Julian’s attention, he sprinted toward her trying to touch her, but she slapped his hands off, her hand tightened around Miles’ jacket.
"Miles.." her voice trembled, Miles pulled him off Astrid as he helped the shaky Astrid up.
"M... my glass.." Astrid’s voice whispered and Miles moved closer to Mattie snatching Astrid glass from her.
He helped her inside the mansion and Julian watched his hands shuddering in rage. The way she had rejected his touch and call for Miles immediately flashing through his head severally.
"Julian... he slapped me," Mattie sputtered in shock, with a pouty lip it’s the first time someone hurt her.
Miles might have acted cold towards her, but he had never laid a hand on her.
"Babe... I’m talking to you," Mattie called out, attempting to gain Julian’s attention, her voice laced with concern.
However, the chill in Julian’s voice sent shivers down Mattie’s spine. "Stay back.."
Julian’s gaze met Manny’s, and she felt like the ground should swallow her whole.
"Go home," Julian instructed, his eyes never leaving Manny’s as he glanced at Larry, still on his knees.
"What? I want to stay," Mattie protested, her voice trembling.
"Go home!" Julian’s tone was icy this time, his words dripping with disdain.
Mattie’s eyes widened in shock, fear evident in her expression. "I... Car..." she stuttered.
"I don’t care what you want to take home, just leave here tonight," Julian’s voice sent chills down her spine, she couldn’t help but be baffled by the ordeal she was facing tonight.
Manny swiftly intervened, pulling Mattie along before Mattie could say another. "Come on, let’s go," she urged, her voice soft but firm.
As they walked towards the car, Mattie’s confusion grew, her eyes still not leaving Julian as Manny helped her inside the car and drove off.
Julian’s attention shifted to the men cowering before him. "How many of you laid hands on her?" he demanded, his eyes blazing with fury.
The scene unfolded before him like a nightmare, he had witnessed them harming Astrid from the back seat, but the details remained unclear. So he wanted to know what Mattie had made them do.
"We... were forced by the..." the first man’s voice trailed off, ending in a groan as Julian’s baton connected with his leg, sending him crashing to the ground.
Larry, still on his knees, trembled uncontrollably. "P-please, Boss... mercy..." another groan
Julian’s expression remained unyielding. "You will receive no mercy, tell me everything, and then you face the consequences."
"What did you do to her?" Julian’s voice thundered again, his eyes blazing with fury.
One of the guards hesitated before answering, "We... we slapped her."
Julian’s expression darkened. "Did I just hear you say you slapped the woman you know to be my wife?"
The guards remained silent, sensing their grave mistake, they shouldn’t have listened to Mattie at first.
"Are you telling me that the guards I hired to protect the people closest to me, including my wife, slapped my wife?" Julian’s anger boiled over.
The guards cowered, unable to respond.
"I asked a question!" Julian growled, his baton flashing in the light.
"Yes Boss," he answered and the guard who had spoken earlier crumpled to the ground, clutching his face as the baton hit his face.
"Get up!" Julian barked. "You are not done answering for your actions."
The guards struggled to stand, trembling. "How many of you touched her?"
Five men walked out and he smiled devilishly, "I will make sure you regret your actions,"
Julian turned to Hatton, one of his loyal guards who was still standing by his car. "Take care of them."
Hatton nodded, his expression grim. "With pleasure, Boss," he answered and gestured for the remaining guards to join him.
The guards were dragged away, screaming as Hatton unleashed a flurry of blows, targeting their legs and backs.
Julian watched, unmoved. "You will learn to respect those under my protection."
"Anyone who harms those I care about will face my full wrath." his voice echoed as the remaining men bowed in fear.
Then Larry bowed before him, "Thanks a lot boss," he appreciated, Julian glanced at him and felt like punishing him also.
"Why didn’t you protect her?" he asked and Larry took a deep breath.
"I am sorry, I wanted to res..." Julian kicked his leg, still boiling in anger.
"No... one touches her with your present, understood!" He bobbed his head, "Not even Mattie!" Julian added.
To say Larry was astounded by Julian’s behavior tonight was an understatement.
Everyone knows how he cares so much about Mattie. That explains why the guard couldn’t say no to her and did what she had instructed them to do.
This was the first time she was left speechless, and Julian used a cold tone at her.
Julian has always always given her the opportunity to have upper hands and do what she wanted.
Julian strode towards the mansion, his fist clenched in agitation.
He couldn’t shake the thought that Miles was the only one with Astrid in her room.
He got to the front of her room and pushed open the door to find Miles sitting on her bed, staring at the empty wall.
"Dude, it’s a lady ’s room, you knock before you enter," Miles said, his tone laced with irritation.
Julian’s eyes narrowed. "I don’t need permission to enter my wife’s room."
Miles smirked. "I get that you are jealous and don’t want me to be close to her."
Julian’s hand instinctively slipped into his pocket, his eyes flashing with warning.
"Perhaps you should consider where you belong before complaining about who gets to be closer." Julian raised an eyebrow.
"What?"
"You’re overstepping boundaries," Julian clarified, his voice low and even.
Miles sighed, standing up. "Look, Julian, I am not here to cause trouble."
"Yes you are..." Julian responds by stopping him, "You are my friend, you should understand me more." Julian’s jaw clenched.
Miles shook his head. "I am out of here, but I am giving you a warning, talk to your girlfriend. I am pretty sure she’s mad she couldn’t clear her name."
Julian’s hands ran through his hair, frustration etched on his face.
"You don’t expect me to sabotage our friendship over a little thing, do you? Besides, she’s my fiancée’s friend, and Mattie asked me to let her go."
A whispered "What?" echoed from the bathroom, followed by Astrid’s emergence, her eyes blazing with anger.
"What is it that you want to hear?" Julian asked, his tone cautious.
Astrid’s voice trembled. "That you know it wasn’t my fault but you embarrassed me in front of the whole office."
Julian’s eyes narrowed. "Yes, and?"
Astrid’s palm connected with Julian’s cheek, the slap resounding through the room. Miles’s eyes widened in shock.
Julian’s gaze locked onto Astrid, his hand shaking as he touched his face. "How dare..."
Before he could finish, Astrid’s hand struck again, leaving Julian speechless.
"Did you just slap me for the second time?" Julian asked, incredulous.
Astrid glared up at him, her eyes flashing. "Yes, and I will do it again if you cross your limits."
