"Is this the crap you have been encountering after rejecting my daughter?" Trina’s voice echoed, around the room

Astrid hands still placed on her face she bit her lip in dejection, how could she just slap her out of nowhere?

"Mrs Adam.." Ryan moved forward but a glare from her made him halt his track.

"You made this riff-raff your secretary?" Trina’s voice was laced with hatred as she glared at Astrid.

Astrid looked up at Trina and felt her heart break into a million pieces.

She couldn’t tell why but the pain she felt in her heart couldn’t be measured.

"It’s wrong for you to discipline my secretary, who also turns out to have my name added to hers," Julian uttered, his voice cold and collected as he stood calm staring at Trina

Trina broke out into a peal of laughter leaving them short of words.

"I heard she has been nothing but trouble ever since she began working here," Trina proclaimed as her gaze pierced into that of Astrid.

"Mrs. Adam, that should be my crisis to resolve and not yours." Trina bobbed her head this time moving closer to Julian.

"How about our project which has been leaked?" Julian frowned and turned mute at this, how did she find out?

He knew Miles wouldn’t say a word to her especially since he cared for Astrid.

"Our bond is already shaking, have you forgotten how important this project meant to us?" she asked again.

"That is why I had promised to take care of this, I discussed this with Miles already... you shouldn’t..."

"Fire her, if you want us to continue working together," Trina cut him off almost immediately.

"She might be your useless wife, but not continue to cause issues, to the businesses we have taken pain for years trying to bring up." Astrid was hurt by her words.

"Mrs Adam... I get you are still mad about the leaked files but..."

"Get her fired or we are no longer partners." With that, she stormed out of the office, without waiting to get a response from Julian.

Astrid stared at Julian and he gestured for Ryan to leave, "Are you happy now?" he asked Astrid who was speechless.

Not only was she framed but was slapped wrongfully for something that wasn’t her fault.

"I asked a question," Astrid looked up sadly, "Yeah... I am... I get to find out why it is better I never cross my limit the next time."

Astrid turned about to leave but Julian pulled her back angrily, "I fucking gave you time, and the next thing you think is trying to fool her and make her fall for your trick so that you can make me believe she was wrong?"

"Yeah... and I regret it, I should have just faced the disciplinary action you wanted," she answered, trying to loosen her hands from his grip but his grip was firm.

"You made the mistake of not being vigilant, she spent her blood getting to that position, but you didn’t spend a dime so.." Astrid nodded her head in acceptance.

"I realized that late, I am so sorry, please let me go. I have work to do." she let out, looking down at her grip.

Julian sighed and let go, "I am told to fire you, but you will need to drop this and continue your job like nothing ever happened, if you keep trying to bring her downfall, you will be fired."

Astrid let out a small smile and bowed her head, "I understand,"

Astrid walked back to her position as eyes bore into her soul, she was too uncomfortable to even look up at them.

She can’t help but wonder what has gone wrong, it feels like Julian knew she wasn’t the cause but is trying to cover up something.

The day went by in a blur and it was fine to go home like always she was the last.

Astrid walked out of the office, as she took in deep breaths.

Larry pulled up in front of her, and then she got inside without another word.

Her whole mind was on the event that happened in the office today, she was quiet the whole ride home.

She gently alighted from her car only to be met with Manny working out of the mansion along with Mattie.

She was more than stunned watching this, as they stepped out of the mansion.

"Manny?" she called to be sure she wasn’t hallucinating.

"Yeah..." Manny responded with the easiest smirk ever, only then it was done at what exactly had happened.

Astrid’s unease grew. She is friends with Mattie who is Julian’s girlfriend so Mattie might have told Julian not to let any of this happen to her friend.

"Nothing, good evening..." Astrid answered as she walked inside the mansion.

But Mattie pulled her back, with her hair, " although you walked past without a single respect."

"What the heck?"

"Could you imagine she almost tried embarrassing me today?" Manny chimed in, her voice dripping with mockery.

Mattie’s gaze turned icy. "what?" she snapped her finger as she pushed Astrid to the ground outside the mansion.

"You need to learn respect," she let out, "Please... let me go!" Astrid pleaded not to be on their bad side.

"Ma’am.." Larry walked out of the car in the hope that he could help. "Please forgive her." Mattie nodded her head and a smirk played on her face.

"Of course, I would.." She answered and clapped her hand. Guards marched from their corners all bowing at her.

"Five of you," Mattie gestured at the five of them as they walked out.

"Give him two slaps each," Astrid’s eyes widened, and she stood on her feet.

"No... you can’t... forgive him," she pleaded, but Mattie folded her hands with a satisfying smirk.

"Hold her down!" She instructed and two guards held her to the ground as she watched the men slap Larry across his face.

"On your knees!" she ordered Larry to fall to his knees, "The next time you butt into my conversation, I would make sure you get fired and your whole family suffers for it."

"And over to you!" Mattie announced, now glancing at Astrid, "Take care of her, Manny."

Manny smiled and stepped forward, her hands grasping Astrid’s shirt.

"Take it off," Manny ordered, her voice cold, the guards all were shocked at Manny’s order.

"What..." Astrid cried out, glancing up at Manny, and then Mattie strutted toward them.

Before Astrid could protest she pulled off her glasses with a proud smile.

"Dear friend, you don’t have to waste your effort on her." Waving the glasses in front of Manny she smirked.

"Pull it off or I asked them to do it.." Astrid bit her lip, she didn’t want to get bullied again.

"Please... don’t do this," Astrid protested but Manny snickered.

"I told you never to mess with me," she let out and then gestured for the men to do as she ordered.

The guard had no choice but to do so, Astrid’s voice was muffled as they ripped her shirt open.

The cold air hit Astrid’s skin like a slap. Mattie’s laughter echoed through the mansion. "You’re pathetic."

Astrid’s eyes welled up with tears as Manny yanked off her shoes.

"Let her go," Mattie commanded.

Astrid stumbled, barefoot and shivering, into the chilly evening air.

"Get some water from the tap!" they all rushed toward the tap not wanting to lose their job.

One could see How much they felt pity for her but they couldn’t say no to Mattid, "Now!" Mattie orders as they pour a bucket of icy water over Astrid’s head.

Astrid gasped, her body shaking, there was much cold she could hunch covering her face in embarrassment.

Mattie’s smile twisted. "Maybe now you will remember your place and never mess with who is mine."

Astrid’s teeth chattered, her dignity shattered. "Each of you is to slap her.." Mattie instructed again and then Manny smirked.

"Common friend... her teeth might break,"

"But she wouldn’t dare repeat her actions once it happens, "Now!" The guards were too scared, laying a hand on a female who they all knew to be their boss’s wife wasn’t what they planned for.

"Smacked her across the face!" one by one they smacked her face, tears welled up her face.

As two more guards held her down each taking turns to slap her, just then the gate slid open and Julian drove inside.

"What the fuck! He said he has a meeting tonight and would be coming late." Manny’s eyes widened in shock.

"Damn! Won’t he fire me once he sees this?" Mattie shook her head, he wouldn’t listen to what I said.

"Let her go!" Mattie ordered the guards as they aligned in fear of what might go on tonight.

"What is going on here?" Mattie heard Miles’s voice and knew she was really in trouble.

"Astrid?" he called in shock seeing how she crouched to the ground he lifted her to see how cold she was and shivering badly.

"Astrid?" he called again, worriedly, he wrapped his body around her trying to make her feel warm. He pulled his jacket and wrapped it around Astrid.

"What happened here?" Julian’s cold and eerie voice asked, and the whole premises was silent at once.

Julian took in a deep breath, and as he chuckled deeply only then did she notice a baton in his hand.

"Julian... She embarrassed my friend and I was only trying to..." before she could complete her word and a heavy slap landed on her face.
