Accidental Marriage With Mr Billioniare -
Chapter 56: HER RETALIATION
Chapter 56: HER RETALIATION
"Let me go!" Astrid yelled again as she yanked her hands off Julian’s grip wearing that irked expression.
"Hey.."
"I can walk, you don’t have to drag me," she mumbled as she tried to massage her wrist.
He is mad at the way she has been hunting around, Mules and also how she still tried to defend Staphan after seeing the way he had been manhandling her.
Julian didn’t say anything and just called Larry to come out.
With the help of the guards, they both got into the car and drove off from the clubhouse premises.
He glanced at Astrid and then sighed again, "Next time... somewhere like that is chosen you should decline if you are not comfortable." Astrid glanced at him, staring at his features.
He is always the grumpy but caring type. She is mad at herself that when she tried to work her heart out of loving him he would draw her right back in.
"Okay," she whispered, she didn’t want this conversation to go long that would make them a bit toward one another, she knew how grumpy and crazy Mattie would be now.
On the other hand, Julian didn’t like this tone of hers, she had been acting this way since the previous night.
He just wants her to smile around him, he hates the idea of how comfortable she is with other guys but not him.
He couldn’t help but wonder if he was being stupid, an arch nemesis, or what he would call himself.
"Astrid," he called again, trying to strike up another conversation with her.
"Thanks for helping me convince Mr. Becker," Astrid stared at him, surprised at the way he had appreciated her.
She didn’t take him to do that, especially after he had just accused her of going to Rowan without letting her speak the previous night.
"It’s nothing," she replied in a flat tone and Julian would only shut his eyes in frustration.
Larry checked his from the rearview mirror and couldn’t help but smile at how frustrated he was.
"Why are you mad at me?" he couldn’t help but ask now, but all she did was shun him, looking out of the car window as it drove through the city.
A few minutes later the car pulled up in front of the mansion and Astrid walked out of the car before he could stop her.
She went straight up to her room. She has decided to stay without eating for the night.
Ryan had helped get her in the office for breakfast, and she should have managed that till the next day.
He doesn’t know the crazy thing Mattie might have done to the food again and she also doesn’t want to be seen by Julian when Mattie gets back.
She was still undressing when a knock came from the door,
"Ma’am... boss asked me to call you down for dinner." she squinted her gaze as her stomach grumbled immediately.
"I am not hungry, tell him to go on without me," she responded, and then another knock came in.
"I have access to your room so just do that quietly," Came in Julian’s eerie voice.
She shut her eyes in frustration and walked out of the room frustrated with just her top and pants.
"What do you want?" her voice sterned and meant business.
Julian let out a small smile, pulling her outside the room before she thought of going inside again.
"You didn’t have any good food today," She sighed "That Is not your business," she answered and was about to go inside when he stood in front of the door.
"Open it, and go inside and I promise I will break this door and make you live in the room without your privacy," Astrid eyes winded at the thought of her room not having a door.
Having no other choice she huffed and was walking fast down the living room, while Julian smiled at this as he also tagged along.
She sat on the seat opposite him, and the crazy event from the previous night pushed forward.
She glanced at the lady who was coming with the dinner, and she was different from the lady who had given her water to drink the previous night.
Their dinner was served and she could only stare at it, a bit of fear etched on her face.
"What is wrong?" he asked, she didn’t know how to explain it wasn’t about the food but the ingredient he was getting terrified of.
"I am fine, I don’t feel hungry," she answered, standing on her feet, ready to leave.
Julian was hurt he had made the maids prepare dinner before they got home knowing she would be hungry.
He followed her, pulling her back immediately, "Hey... you haven’t eaten for.." Julian’s words stopped as he noticed some bruises on her hands.
She had covered it so well because of the jacket she wore to the office but now she didn’t have it on he could see it.
"What happened to your hand?" he implored with shock on his face, one thing he disliked most was seeing a scar on his close buddy’s skin.
"It’s fine, please just go to your woman and stop allowing me to go through pain okay."
She snatched her hands from him running into her room, locking the sliding down with her arms wrapped around her chest.
"Mum... I miss you so much," she whispered, as tears streamed down her face.
Julian on the other hand stood there, shocked and confused by her reaction.
*******
The next morning, just like the previous day, she was ready for the morning work.
She walked out of her room, sneaking down to the living room but it halted when she saw Julian on the chair with his laptop so lost in it.
"Good morning," she greeted. His head whipped up to see her beside him.
"Good morning," he responded his voice soft and deep,
"Are you skipping breakfast also?" he asked again with irritation on his face.
He had decided to work in the living room so he could stop her and make her breakfast.
"I will eat some..." but she was interrupted by the familiar voice she now dislikes so much.
Mattie’s voice echoed from the stairs, her tone husky and seductive. "Babe,"
Astrid’s eyes narrowed, her gaze fixed on Mattie’s disheveled appearance. Mattie’s hair was a tangled mess, her makeup smudged, and her clothes rumpled from the previous night’s escapades.
As Mattie reached the bottom of the stairs, she flung herself onto Julian’s lap, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Hey, babe," she cooed again, her voice laced with a hangover-induced rasp.
Julian’s expression remained neutral, but his eyes betrayed a hint of amusement.
Astrid’s clenched fist was the only indication of her growing irritation.
"I am suffering from a terrible hangover," Mattie murmured, her voice, she let out dramatically.
Astrid’s eyes flashed with annoyance, but before she could react, Mattie continued.
"Help me get some hangover soup, will you?" Her gaze locked onto Astrid, a sly smile spreading across her face.
"Hey, she—"
"Come on, babe, she’s useless anyway," Mattie interrupted Julian.
"The only thing she’s good for is bringing me hangover soup."
Astrid’s face burned with anger, her fists clenched at her sides. Julian’s expression remained impassive, but his eyes flicked to Astrid, a hint of apology in it.
Matty’s words cut deep, and Astrid felt a surge of resentment. How could Julian make her tolerate Mattie’s disrespect?
As Astrid turned to leave, Mattie’s laughter echoed through the room, a mocking tone that fueled Astrid’s anger.
Astrid stomped into the kitchen, frustration simmering within her.
She hadn’t expected Julian to remain silent, but his unresponsiveness had gotten her mad, she shouldn’t have waited to greet him.
As she opened the cabinet, a maid approached her. "Good morning, ma’am. How can I help you...?" Astrid’s gaze lingered on the maid, her mind racing with a wicked thought.
"Nothing," Astrid said curtly, dismissing the maid. "I will handle it myself."
The maid hesitated before departing, leaving Astrid alone in the kitchen.
Astrid’s eyes scanned the shelves,
Astrid’s lips curled into a sly smile.
With deliberate act, she gathered an assortment of ingredients, including an excessive amount of salt, extra coarse black pepper, over-minced garlic, grated ginger with a hint of bitterness, lukewarm chicken broth, and crumbled stale bread.
As she mixed the ingredients, she smiled and she would create a hangover soup that would deepen Mattie’s discomfort.
She added the salt, pepper, garlic, and ginger to the pot, stirring the concoction with a spoon.
The aroma wafting from the pot reeked of spite.
Astrid poured the soup into a bowl, her hands trembling with anticipation. She knows she would suffer for this but needs to see Mattie’s expression.
"Time to serve," she whispered, carrying the bowl to the living room.
Mattie looked up, expecting relief from her hangover. She looked like a mess. Astrid’s smile masked her true intentions.
"Here’s your hangover soup, Mattie," Astrid said, handing her the bowl.
Mattie took a sip, her eyes widening in surprise. "This tastes...different." Astrid nodded innocently.
"Is it...salty?" Mattie asked, wincing. Astrid’s smile grew.
"Must be the seasoning," Astrid replied sarcastically.
"You wanted her to make it, no complaining," Julian told her, irritated by Mattie’s behavior.
Then Mattie decided to scoop a big spoon into her mouth and a wide smirk appeared on Astrid’s face.
Mattie screamed as her eyes widened, now groaning in pain with the amount of pepper Astrid had put in it, and also how bitter it tasted.
"You!" she yelled trying to spit it away, in the process the hot bowl fell to the ground and it splashed on her leg.
"Aww" Mattie cried out and Astrod snickered like nothing had just transpired.
"I will be off to the office." Astrid was satisfied with the reaction she had just gotten from Mattie.
Julian could only watch from behind still in shock at how she had just retaliated to Mattie.
