Accidental Marriage With Mr Billioniare -
Chapter 54: BLUE VILE
Chapter 54: BLUE VILE
Astrid remained engrossed in her work, tapping away on her computer as she edited and arranged files. Suddenly, a knock on her desk broke the silence.
She looked up to see none other than Miles standing before her, a warm smile spreading across her face. "Miles!" she exclaimed, excitement coloring her voice.
"Hey.." he replied
Astrid’s smile faltered for a moment, "I miss you," she cooed, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Miles’s smile dissipated, replaced by a serious gaze. "I don’t think you do," he said, his voice low and measured. "I didn’t even receive a response to my message."
Astrid’s brow furrowed in surprise. "Message?" she asked, her voice tinged with confusion.
Miles’s eyes narrowed, and he clicked his tongue. "Give me your phone."
Astrid calmly handed over her phone, and only then did she notice the time. The office was deserted, except for the two of them. Night had fallen, casting a quiet gloom over the space.
Miles’s gaze flicked up to hers. "Why are you still in the office at this time?’" he asked, his brow raised in inquiry.
Astrid’s cheeks flushed slightly. "Well... I was too busy to notice.’" Her voice trailed off, and she leaned forward, her eyes locked on Miles’s.
A soft smile played on her lips as she felt an unexplainable connection to him.
Her heart, once beating solely for Julian, now wavered. Was it because Julian hadn’t been treating her well?
Miles handed her phone back.
"Take." His voice was low, and Astrid’s gaze met his.
Just then, Julian walked out of his office, his eyes scanning the room until they landed on the pair. His smile faltered, and a flicker of irritation crossed his face.
The warmth in Astrid’s expression dissipated as their eyes met. Julian’s presence seemed to make her annoyed.
Julian approached them, his stride confident. "Hey, dude," he said, extending his hand for a handshake.
Miles’s gaze lingered on Astrid before shifting to Julian. "Why put her details in private? People would want to reach out to her too."
Julian’s expression turned guarded, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"What the fuck, don’t tell me you remove it?" he growled and Astrid lowered her head.
"Yes I did.. She has the right to hang out with people too, you know," He swallowed hard trying to swallow his response to his friend.
"She is..."
"We don’t care... She is her human self also," Astrid’s smile brightly excited Miles was here, he had been the first to treat her like a real human among them and it made her happy.
"Why are you here?" Julian asked, now, getting irritated by his presence.
"Well... let’s hang out tonight, it’s been a while since the three of us had some fun," he announced.
At the mention of ’three’ the smile disparaged from her eyes.
It’s been a while since she has seen Stephan and seeing him again wasn’t going well with her.
"Well... I will step out then..." But Miles was quick to stop her,
"Common... we want you there also... don’t we Julian?" Julian sighed and then nodded his head.
"I will be fine, I don’t want to be the only girl in your midst.."
"And who said anything about you being the only girl?"A voice said from behind making their eyes dart into the directions
Astrid eyes meet with Mattie walking inside and Julian’s eyes narrow at this.
"Why are you here? I thought.." but she cut Julian off.
"Turns out someone was having fun without me so I decided to ruin it."
"Fun?"
"The media captured the both of you in a restaurant," she answered and Julian shit his eyes frustrated.
"I had a meeting there, she is my secretary," he explained and Miles scoffed.
"Stephan, you don’t have to ruin the fun bringing her here," Miles stated irritatedly.
"Hey Miles, be nice," Julian intervened, a hint of amusement in his voice. "I don’t have to teach you how to treat your sister right?"
Astrid’s head whipped up, her gaze darting between Miles and Julian. "What?" Her lips parted in surprise before she could control herself.
Miles’s expression remained neutral, but Mattie’s eyes sparkled with mirth.
"Oh... didn’t say anything about it before?" Miles asked, his tone casual.
Astrid shook her head sideways, confusion etched on her face.
Then, Mattie stepped forward, her movements fluid.
Astrid’s nerves fluttered as Mattie drew closer. "I just want to help you fix your hair, no need to be tense," she said, her voice sugary sweet.
Astrid sensed an ulterior motive behind Mattie’s offer.
"But..." Astrid began, her voice hesitant.
Mattie’s eyes locked onto hers. "Astrid... I need to cancel my contract with the airline because you burnt my hand. Still, I try acting kind... am I that intimidating?" Her tone dripped with sarcasm.
Astrid swallowed hard, her eyes darting between Stephan and Miles. She detected the tension.
Mattie’s smile grew wider. "It would be nice if we both hung out from now on. I have made my calculations since it’s just a year. I shouldn’t continue getting mad at you."
Astrid started, her eyes searching for hidden meanings.
Mattie pulled Astrid into a hug, her voice whispering against Astrid’s ear. "Well, now you know that Miles is my brother, Julian my fiancé, and Stephan my best friend. This should remind you never to mess with me, for I have been with the boys a long time before you."
Astrid’s smile faltered her senses on high alert. She detected a threat beneath Mattie’s sugary tone.
Mattie pulled back, her eyes glinting. "Smile..."
Astrid forced a bright smile, but her instincts screamed a warning.
Miles’s gaze narrowed, his eyes flicking between Astrid and Mattie.
He knew his sister so damn well, he pulled her toward him glaring at her.
"She is my friend... we don’t condone another," Miles stated and Astrid lowered her gaze even though she felt her face flushed at this.
Julian, who noticed Astrid’s behavior, wasn’t happy with it,
"Where are we going?" Julian asked and then this got the attention of his friends.
"Blue vile," Stephan answered.
Astrid eyes widened at this, "clubhouse?" she thought.
"We have an amateur in our midst, we wouldn’t want to make her feel uncomfortable,"
Mile stated and Julian narrowed his eyes at this, he was also about to decline but now Miles had beaten him to it.
"Babe.." Mattie called Julian, as she wrapped her hand around his arms.
"It’s been a while we have been there, ever since the marriage we don’t have fun," she stated and Astrid felt a bit guilty
"You can have fun somewhere else," Miles stated, irked by her action, but she glared back at him.
"Sometimes I wonder if you are my brother," she stated a bit hurt, Miles had never supported her in whatever decision she made.
He always made it obvious he didn’t like her, and despite Julian trying his best to make the sibling relationship better it became worse.
Julian is cold and hard to please, hard to allow anyone else into his group of friends.
But Miles, who is the warm-hearted one of the group, is more distant when it comes to people he mingles with. Julian still can’t help but wonder how his bond with Astrid clicked so fast.
And crazily this was making him nervous, the feeling of his friend falling for Astrid was making his heart pound in fear.
Astrid, who didn’t like where this was going, let out."You all can go, I am fine being alone. I don’t like.." But Miles stopped her, placing his finger on her lips.
Julian’s fist clenched, he wanted to rip those hands from her lips,
"You are now part of us, so you are not getting excluded," Miles stated.
Stephan on the other hand didn’t miss the weird closeness of Miles with Astrid and how Julian’s eyes darkened it.
Again he had noticed how Julian was getting mad at this. Julian had never acted jealous of Mattie.
Same as Miles never hung out with ladies. Stephan had been the one so close to Mattie for a long time whenever she craved her brother’s love.
From the protection zone, his heart began beating for her. If only one day she would understand the feeling he had and just let Julian go.
Astrid, not wanting to cause any issues for herself, decided to agree.
"Then I will go to the clubhouse with you guys since you are there to protect me." Astrid made the last statement, her eyes meeting that of Miles.
"Of course, I will Gorgeous." he let out a wink and Julian almost lost it.
