Chapter 49: A COFEE DATE
Chapter 49: A COFEE DATE
When they were out of the premises of the restroom, Rowan let go of Astrid still having a smile on his face.
Astrid’s face was red from embarrassment as she couldn’t look up at Rowan anymore.
Rowan smiled at how cute this was and helped her wear the coat, like a protection.
"Maybe next time the beauty should check the restroom she is going to." Astrid cleared her throat severally, so embarrassed by this.
"Th... Thank you..." she let out appreciating him and at the same time blushing so hard at how he had called her beauty.
Rowan scoffed and then lifted Astrid’s face, "What were you crying?" Astrid slapped his hands off, still not forgetting what he had done at the party.
Rowan noticed this and then raised his hands in surrender.
"Common... don’t tell me you are still mad at night?" she rolled her eyes at this.
"Thanks for saving me today," she whispered about to leave but he pulled her back again.
"Well sorry, I can’t let you go since I need to appreciate you for making a client divert to my side." Astrid eyes narrowed at this.
"Your company deals with jewelry?" she asked cluelessly, then he placed his hands on his heart feigning hurt.
"Damn beauty, I feel hurt... I am popular too you know," Astros rolled her eyes again.
"Not as that of Julian because I never heard of you," Rowan mimicked her and Astrid felt a bit offended by his character but at the same still liked it.
"Since we are done here I should leave for my space," she said, turning toward the weird gazes piercing on them.
"Wouldn’t want another sort of embarrassment from them,"
Rowan recalled, crying for seven minutes, and refusing to come out of the restroom, so as not to embarrass her until she was done crying.
He so much wants to know about Astrid, ever since that night, he has felt intrigued by her.
It’s the first time a lady has rejected him, and that has captured his heart or maybe because she is with Julian he thought again.
"Why were you crying?"
"You don’t ask a lady that question," Astrid retorted with an eye roll as she tried walking off again but Rowan’s grip was still tight around her arms.
"Sorry about that," he apologized, catching her attention.
Except for that one night when he was a jerk, he’s always been caring.
Spotting her in the street, without much talk, he took her to his home and called Julian to pick her up.
Even now, without hesitation, he assisted her out of the bathroom, "I am fine... let me go now," yet he was not quite ready to release her.
"What do I need to do to prove I am truly sorry?" she looked at him, seeing the sincerity in his gaze.
"Give me all the important details about the client that came to your company, because of the mistake I made," Rowan was shocked at her direct question.
"And you think I would do that without getting something in return," she smirked, then pulled her hands away abruptly.
"Then get out of my face!" she yelled, startling him with her outburst.
"Hey... fine... I’ll have my assistant send that to you," he let out as she was amazed at how easily he let it go.
"What?"
"If that would make you forgive me and clear my name from the bad impression I had given to you, then so be it," he explains further with an ordinary shrug.
This makes Astrid wonder if these rich people just let money flow easily without it hurting them.
"Are you not scared that I would get him back from you?" Rowan snickered at this.
"I don’t know your capacity, but for forgiveness, I will give you his details as you ask for... it’s left for you to be able to convince him." Astrid scoffed as he winked at her.
Then he handed a card to her, and then winked at her, "Text this number to send the information you need."
Astrid retrieved it from him still in shock, when then someone came forward asking for the attention of Rowan.
Before she could say more he bid her farewell and walked off.
Astrid smiled proudly at the card as her finger traced it, "Julian I would get him back for you," she thought as she found her way back to her space.
When she got there she met Manny with an angry face, "Are you crazy? You have been called upon by the boss.."
Astrid sighed for a weird reason, annoyed she would be going to his office to see their annoying display of affection.
"Thank you," Astrid told Manny, keeping the card on the desk.
"Hey... I get that you are called Mrs. Logan. But people are here struggling to get the job, so don’t misuse the opportunity." Manny warmed and this made Astrid feel guilty.
She shouldn’t have left for so long, she found her way to the meeting room with the help of the company’s map.
Since Manny didn’t tell her the location of the meeting room, it was very hard for her to waste a lot of time.
Finally, she found the location after navigating the confusing routes after so much frustration.
She knocked on the door and walked inside, meeting the piercing gazes of Julian and Rowan.
The two men’s eyes seemed to bore into her soul, she thought of leaving but Julian’s voice stopped her.
"Come in," Julian ordered, his voice firm but stern.
Astrid did as she was told, almost immediately.
"I am sorry for coming late," she let out, embarrassed.
"Well, Mr. Rowan, I wouldn’t expect a collaboration from you, so this meeting is over," Julian said. Astrid was stunned at how stern Julian’s voice was.
She had pondered the reason why Rowan was in Julian’s company.
"And you?" Julian called out, his tone eerie and disrespectful, staring at Astrid.
"Why schedule a meeting with him, knowing fully well I wouldn’t want him to be here?" Astrid fluttered her eyes, taken aback.
"Tone down your voice," Rowan cautioned with a small smile.
"I heard she is new and she also doesn’t seem to know much about me, so I understand."
This made Julian even more pissed. That even Rowan’s words replayed in his head.
"I am talking to my secretary, why butt in?" Julian countered back and Rowan only snickered in return.
Julian stood from his seat, and then his eyes caught something.
"How come you now wear a coat?" he asked.
Only then did Astrid recall how Rowan had helped her by giving her the coat to protect her from the guys.
It had slipped her mind to pull it off.
"Erm..." she began.
But before she could complete her sentence, Julian was standing before her, pulling the coat off roughly from her body.
"No, you can’t do that," Astrid gasped. She wanted to collect the coat from Julian, but he raised it, making it hard for Astrid to retrieve it.
"Hey... give it back!" she yelled, still trying to reach it, he needed no one to tell him they had both shared some conversation and he had given her the coat. He is so mad that he wants to know what they both talked about.
He rolled his eyes at Astrid’s action, strutting toward the bin and throwing the coat inside.
"What did you do that for?" Astrid yelled wanting to dip her hand inside the bin but Julian grabbed out giving her a warning tone.
"It doesn’t suit your dress," he stated sternly and Astrid felt like yelling at him. Why does it concern him to know what fits her dress?
Astrid scoffed and glanced at Rowan, "I am so sorry... for that I didn’t plan to.."
"I will pay for whatever damages caused, you can send in the mouth of it." Julian cut Astrid off, irritated.
Rowan breathed in and then stood from his seat, his hand in his pocket, he could see the anger laced in Julian’s eyes.
He moved closer to Julian, "Nothing you do would piss me off, since I already got the client you so badly wanted."
Astrid felt bad at this, couldn’t have a word, and only watched how Julian fumed at this. Julian had expected the tease from Rowan.
"Never mind about the coat’s beauty, I forgive that." he let out as he winked at her.
"She has a name," Julian grumbled, his eyes narrowing.
Rowan’s smile faltered, his gaze locking onto Julian’s.
"Don’t act like you own her," Rowan retorted, his tone dripping with challenge.
The air thickened as the two men engaged in a glaring contest and this made Astrid swallow hard, uneasy.
"Hey, you don’t have to cause a fight," she intervened, her voice soft.
Rowan’s gaze broke away, a snicker escaping his lips. While Julian’s anger simmered, his jaw clenched.
"Well, beauty," Rowan began, his voice low and smooth.
"I forgot to tell you I still have your necklace." Astrid’s eyes widened at the news.
She couldn’t help but wonder how he got hold of her necklace, but remembering the chaos from that night, she figured it must have slipped off when she was tussling with him.
"You..." Julian growled and Rowan’s smile grew.
"You can come get it when we both have time for coffee."
He winked at Astrid, leaving her speechless. When did they both schedule a coffee date?
"Until coffee, then," he whispered, his eyes locked on Astrid.
With a final glance, Rowan exited, leaving tension in his wake.
