They all stood before the convoy of cars already parked before them.

"Astrid.." Julian called, then glanced at his chauffeur.

"You should go separately from us, he will be your chauffeur from hence forte."

"Babe..." Marie was shocked he was treating Astrid in a more caring way than he ever treated her.

The chauffeur was also surprised to see Julian assigning him to Astrid.

He has been working with Julian for years and the only Chauffeur he trusts most is him.

For him to assign him to his wife, meant that he had placed a huge amount of work on him to protect his wife.

Astrid for the first time the whole morning felt she won in this.

"Thanks.."Astrid let out as she got into the car with the help of the guards.

"Julian..." Mattie pulled Julian’s shirt making him sigh in frustration.

"I want him to be my cha..."

"You have yours Mattie" Julian cut her off, "Astrid is new to all these, and he is the only one I can trust him with right now." Mattie felt mad at this.

"Julian... you don’t care about me anymore.." she cried out and the guards were irritated by her action.

They were beginning to get used to Astrid, the one who wouldn’t complain a bit about how badly they did their job.

"I care about you, but you can see how much Mum wanted her to be protected, it’s just for a year babe." Mattie, seeing there was no way to change his mind, rolled her eyes.

"I rescheduled my meetings today, I want to be with you all day."

"Babe.." Julian called getting weary with all these.

"No, we are going together," she refused jumping into the car. Astrid watched this in the car and could only play with her fingers.

Why is she jealous of them when she has no right? She needs to work on the one her heart cares so much about.

"Mrs. Logan my name is Larry, since I get to be your permanent chauffeur now, we could use a good introduction." Astrid stared at him through the rear view mirror, she could tell he was the same age as her father.

"Thanks... it’s nice meeting you," she replied with a small smile, and he also returned her smile

The couple finally got to the car and the car began driving out of the premises.

A few minutes later their car drove into the gigantic buildings, this is just a branch of the Logan but is the one Julian had chosen to deal with.

Astrid glanced up at the building with her mouth ajar, "JL Line Corp." Astrid let out a small smile.

How could she forget her husband owned a gigantic jewelry company, this proves the necklace would be so expensive if only there would be a way for her to see it once more and hand it over to him.

Just then a message popped on her phone, "Stay back till we get to the office," Astrid rolled her eyes.

She was ready to do anything they wanted as long as she finally had the chance together to fit in the company and prove she could be useful.

Astrid waited a bit longer until she was told she was told to come inside.

As Astrid stepped into the company, all eyes turned to her. Whispers spread like wildfire.

"Isn’t that the boss’s wife?" a voice whispered.

"Don’t call her that; it’s an accidental marriage," another voice corrected. "The boss is supposed to marry his fiancée, Mattie Adams, the supermodel."

Astrid’s eyes scanned the room, her composure unwavering despite the hurtful comments.

"She’s not even beautiful," a third voice chimed in. "Trying to replace Mattie? Please."

"Just a fat, social-climbing bitch," another employee sneered.

Astrid’s face remained calm, but her eyes betrayed a flicker of pain.

She was used to bullying, especially for her weight.

"Mrs. Logan," a deep voice interrupted the snickers.

Astrid turned to face a well-dressed man in his late twenties.

"Good day," she replied, her voice steady.

"I’m Ryan, the boss’s assistant. Please follow me, Mr. Logan has asked me to show you to your new office."

The news spread like wildfire, drawing a crowd. Employees swarmed around, curiosity and gossip driving their interest.

Astrid felt embarrassment wash over her as she trailed Ryan through the throng.

Ryan led her to the secretary’s seat and also beside some other employees she is yet to find out their job.

"Astrid, this is your new workspace," Ryan announced, handing her a keycard.

"You’ll be working closely with Mr. Logan and also dealing with his schedules.." he explained just then a lady walked in with her bag.

"Oh... good morning Manny, she would be the one to put you through, she is the administrative assistant." Ryan Introduced.

Astrid extended her hand, attempting a warm greeting. "Good day, Manny."

But Manny’s stink-eye gaze halted Astrid mid-sentence.

Manny’s expression softened slightly at Ryan’s gentle rebuke. "Manny, be nice to her."

A faint smile crossed Manny’s, "I need to leave now." he announced and then walked out almost immediately leaving Manny and Astrid.

Astrid not wanting to be rude decided to strike up a conversation "It’s nice to meet..."

"More like your nightmare meeting me," Manny cut in, her voice dripping with disdain.

Astrid stood speechless, taken aback by Manny’s instant hostility.

Manny slammed files onto Astrid’s desk. "Work on this."

Astrid’s confusion deepened. "I...done...?"

"What do you say?" Manny snapped, her tone stern. This made Astrid hesitate, unsure how to respond.

"Oh, how could I forget? You’re the boss’s wife, aren’t you?" Manny’s sarcasm stung.

Astrid’s embarrassment grew, aware of the nearby employees listening in.

"I am sorry, I will sort things out," Astrid muttered, seeking refuge at her desk.

Manny sent her a schedule. "Ryan said to send this to you. It’s the boss’s itinerary."

Astrid took the papers, grateful for the distraction.

She organized the schedule and sent it to Julian’s email, found on the computer.

As she worked, she began to organize the files sent to her. It was too hard but she is trying her best to understand what she was supposed to do.

She was still so lost in it until she suddenly heard a loud bang in front of her table, it made her startled.

"What the fuck! How the fuck didn’t you add in the meeting with the most important client I had today?" She looked up to see furious Julian.

"I... I.." she was so lost for words and to make it worse Manny wasn’t in the office.

"I just lost fucking billions because of you just on your first day of work!"
