Chapter 228: I WANT TO BE THERE
Astrid lunged at Josh again, ready to attack him, but Julian was quick to catch her. She struggled against his grip, yelling for him to let her go.
"I want to teach him a lesson! I want their family to be destroyed! He fucking took me from my mother despite not being my father!" Astrid shouted, at the same time tears dripping down her eyes.
"Not now, Astrid," he whispered, "I promise you will get your lick back smooth and calmly," he added as he glanced at the guards who nodded their heads in understanding.
He pulled her out of the room, "Julian... I don’t care, I want him dead! I want him destroyed! I want to make him pay for the pain he has put me through." she kept screaming.
Julian still did not mind the shocked looks from the others. They got to the car, and Larry drove off immediately.
Astrid hits Julian with her fists. "I want to question him!" she shouted, her eyes streaming with tears.
Julian didn’t say a word, just watching her hit him with a calm expression. Astrid kept crying, her body shaking with sobs.
Just when it seemed like she was going to collapse, Julian pulled her close, his voice whispering soothing words in her ear.
"I promise you, Astrid, Josh will pay for what he’s done," Julian said, his voice firm and determined. "And you will find out who your father is, can you please trust me on this?"
Astrid’s sobs slowly subsided, her body relaxing against Julian’s. She looked up at him, her eyes red and puffy.
"Julian," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "I heard you can be brutal when paying back anyone who messes with you," he squinted his eyes looking down at her.
"I want to be there," she added, and he smiled, leaning closer to her.
"You sure you would want to see that?" Astrid nodded with a pouting lip.
On the other hand, Josh glanced at Leila, his eyes narrowing. "How did they know Astrid isn’t my daughter?" he asked.
Leila shook her head, her eyes wide with fear. "I didn’t say anything, Josh, I was only just hearing about this when she came now." she stammered.
Just then, Nadine walked into the room, rushing towards her father. Leila and Josh were shocked to see her brutally injured, her face battered and bruised.
Nadine ignored her injuries, her eyes fixed on her father. "Why are you so weak, Father? Why are you awake by now?" she demanded, her voice shrill. "The doctor should respond to you on time, why are you still looking at this Dad?"
Josh waved his hand, his eyes narrowing. "I’m fine, Nadine," he said, his voice firm. "What happened to you? You look like you need the hospital yourself too."
Nadine’s eyes flashed with anger as she recalled the events that had occurred.
"It was that bitch, Astrid," she answered, "I went over to her to talk at her for making you go through this."
Leila’s eyes widened in shock, her hand flying to her mouth. "Nadine, what did you do?" she whispered, her voice trembling.
Josh’s eyes narrowed, his gaze piercing as he turned to Nadine. "What did you mean by you went to Astrid?" he asked, slowly standing from the bed.
Nadine explained, her words tumbling out in a rush. "I went to Astrid and yelled at her, but she lost it like an animal when I told her that you are not her real father."
Leila and Josh exchanged a weighted glance, but Nadine didn’t notice. She continued, "I was mad that Astrid always called you her father, but now she will know her place."
Josh’s face darkened, his eyes flashing with anger. "Did you tell Astrid that I am not her father?" he demanded, his voice rising.
Nadine nodded, her eyes wide with fear noticing his change in countenance. "Y-yes, Father."
Josh’s face twisted in rage, his hands flying out to grab Nadine. "How could you be so stupid?" he shouted, his voice echoing off the walls. "Do you know the destruction you have caused?"
Nadine shrank back, fear etched on her face. Josh’s hands closed around her hair, pulling her back. He slapped her, his hand cracking against her skin.
Leila rushed forward, trying to help out her daughter. "Josh, stop! She’s your daughter! Don’t hurt her too much."
But Josh wouldn’t listen. He pulled Nadine back, his fists flying. "You’re useless!" he shouted. "You have ruined my plans!"
The doctor rushed in, shocked by the scene before him. "Security!" he yelled, rushing to stop him.
But Josh was too far gone. He continued to beat Nadine, "I have my daughter, I have the right to teach her a lesson." Leila tried to stop him, but he pushed her aside.
It wasn’t until the security guards arrived that they were able to subdue Josh. They injected him with a sedative, and he collapsed onto the bed.
"My daughter..." Leila cried out seeing Nadine already unconscious, "Sace her, please." Immediately Nadine was rushed to the emergency unit, her body battered and bruised. Leila followed close behind, her eyes wide with fear.
Meanwhile, a reporter who had disguised as Astrid guards to come into the hospital watched from the shadows, a sly smile spreading across his face. He had caught the whole scene on camera, and he knew he had a scoop.
As he turned to leave, he noticed a group of doctors walking into Josh’s room. They looked around nervously, their eyes scanning the room.
The reporter’s instincts kicked in, and he hid in the corner, watching as the doctors placed Josh in a stroller wondering what they wanted to do. They wheeled him out of the room, and down to the parking lot.
The reporter’s eyes widened as he followed closely to watch Josh being thrown into a car. He quickly snapped a photo of the license plate, his mind racing with questions.
"Should I call the police and report a kidnapping? Or should I just keep quiet and see where the story took me?
Just then he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned only to come across Ryan, Julian’s assistant, standing behind him.
The reporter tried to act cool, "Hi.." he greeted but Ryan’s eyes narrowed. "What are you doing here?" he demanded.
The reporter tried to bluff, but Ryan wasn’t having it. He punched the reporter, and everything went black.
The reporter’s camera lay on the ground, the last photo he had taken still displayed on the screen. The license plate number was clear, and the reporter’s notes were scattered all around.
Ryan puckeebit up looking around as some guards also scooped him into a car.
