Chapter 218: ANOTHER BROKEN HEART

Julian’s eyes widened in alarm as he watched Astrid storm off, tears streaming down her face.

He took off after her, calling out her name, not caring about the look he was getting from his employees but she didn’t respond.

Instead, she quickened her pace finding her way to the car as she wiped her tears trickling down her face angrily, her eyes shimmering with hurt and betrayal.

As he caught up to her, he saw that she was heading towards her car, her keys already in hand.

He grabbed her arm, spinning her around to face him. "Astrid, where are you going?" he demanded, his voice low and urgent.

Astrid snatched her arm out of his grasp, she didn’t say a word, just tried to open the car door, but Julian slammed it shut, trapping her.

"Talk to me," he pleaded, his voice cracking with emotion. "You can’t just walk away like this. We need to communicate, Astrid. We can’t just let little misunderstandings tear us apart."

But Astrid just shook her head, tears streaming down her face. She tried to push past him, but Julian grabbed her arms, holding her in place.

"Astrid, please," he begged. "Listen to me. Nothing is going on between me and Mattie. She just showed up unexpectedly, and I was trying to get rid of her. I swear, it’s not what it looks like."

Astrid Locked up at him this time, and she slapped him, the sound echoing through the parking lot.

"Don’t lie to me," she spat, her voice shaky. "Do you take me for a fool? I saw the way you were touching her, the way you were looking at her. You’re still in love with her, aren’t you?"

Julian’s face stung from the slap, but he was more concerned about Astrid’s accusation.

"Astrid, that’s not true," he protested. "I was just surprised to see the bruise on her body, that’s all. I swear, I don’t have feelings for her anymore."

But Astrid just laughed, a bitter, mocking sound. "You expect me to believe that?" she sneered. "You have been with her for years, Julian. Why would you suddenly stop loving her just because you are married to me?"

Julian’s frustration boiled over, and he yelled at her, his voice echoing through the parking lot.

"I don’t love Mattie, Astrid! I don’t know how many times I have to tell you that. I was only worried about her, okay? I saw the bruise on her body, and I was concerned. That’s all."

Astrid’s face crumpled, and she burst into tears, squatting down on the ground. Julian followed her, squatting down beside her, his eyes filled with regret.

"Astrid, I am sorry," he whispered, his voice cracking with emotion. "I didn’t mean to hurt you. I didn’t mean to make you cry."

But Astrid just pushed him away, "Stay away from me asshole," she spat, "You always go back to her, Julian. You always choose her over me."

Julian’s face twisted in frustration. "That’s not true, Astrid," he protested. "I was just worried about her, okay? I didn’t mean to hurt you."

But Astrid just shook her head, her eyes filled with tears. "She is not your fiancée anymore, Julian," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

"The one she is having sex with should worry about her bruise, not you."

Julian’s face went white with shock, and he felt a wave of guilt wash over him.

He knew he had hurt Astrid, and he didn’t know how to make it right. "I am sorry," he whispered, his voice cracking with emotion. "I didn’t mean to hurt you. Please forgive me."

"You think it’s that easy, Julian?" she sneered.

"You think you can just apologize and everything will be okay? Well, it’s not! I am your wife! I am also Logan, Julian. You can’t just make it feel like I am the bad one with just one apology."

Julian’s face twisted in frustration,

"You shouldn’t just blame me, Astrid," he snapped, "You also went to Rowan! Why did you lie to me about where you were going?"

Astrid stopped crying as she stood still now wiping off her tears, twisting her face in a scowl.

"Wow! So it’s my fault now!" Astrid let out still in shock.

"You are an asshole, jerk, bastard!" she spat, her face twisted in anger.

"How could you think that I would go to Rowan for other reasons after what we shared last night? Do you think I’m just a whore, that I would sleep with you and then run to another man?"

Julian’s face went white with shock, and he took a step back, his hands raised in a defensive gesture.

"Astrid, I shouldn’t have said," he pleaded, his voice cracking with emotion. "I didn’t mean to hurt you. I was just jealous, okay?"

But Astrid wasn’t having it. She shook her head, her eyes gleaming with fur.

"You are always jealous, Julian," she spat. "You’re always so quick to assume the worst about me. But when it comes to Mattie, you are always so quick to defend her, to make excuses for her. It’s like you’re still in love with her, and I am just a convenient substitute."

Julian’s face twisted in guilt, and he took a step closer to Astrid, his arms outstretched. "Astrid, please," he whispered, his voice cracking with emotion. "It won’t happen again. I promise."

But Astrid just shook her head, her eyes cold and hard. "I don’t want to forgive you easily this time, Julian," she spat. "I hate you so much right now. You always do this to me, and I am tired of it."

As she turned to get into her car, a sudden punch came out of nowhere, connecting with Julian’s jaw.

Astrid’s eyes widened in shock, as she gaped, turning to see who had thrown the punch.

And then she saw him, Julian’s father, standing there with a fierce expression on his face.

"Dad!" They both called in shock.
