Accidental Marriage With Mr Billioniare
Chapter 209: HER CUNNING WAYS

Chapter 209: HER CUNNING WAYS

Maren walked into her office, a happy smile plastered on her face as she texted away on her phone.

She had just finished the last dress that would be showcased in the upcoming fashion show, and she couldn’t wait to share it with her team.

"Ma’am these are the list of the models needed, Mrs Logan would be the one opening and closing the show." Hannett, her assistant, announced as she handed the file to her.

"Good... has the invitation been sent to Mattie?" She asked and Hannett nodded her head.

"Do you think she would accept this? She is..." Maren stopped her midway.

"Do you see any brands working with her?" Banner shook her head and Maren snapped her fingers with a smile.

"That is it... she can’t say no to us." Hannett nodded her head in acceptance even though she still didn’t want to have her hopes high.

"Alright then, I should go do other things," Hannett announced.

As she rushed out to meet with the models, she was stopped in her tracks by the sight of Mattie standing in front of her, wearing a pair of oversized goggles that covered her eyes.

Maren and Hannett looked equally shocked by Mattie’s appearance.

"What are you doing here?" Maren asked, trying to hide her surprise and excitement.

Mattie looked embarrassed, fidgeting with her goggles. "The company sent me an invitation," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Maren raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on her lips. She recalled the conversation she had with Astrid earlier, and her expression turned skeptical.

"Excuse me for a moment," Maren said, gesturing for her Hennette to leave.

Once they were alone, Maren dropped her phone and folded her arms across her chest, leaning in closer to Mattie.

"I thought our contract was over," Maren said, her voice firm.

Mattie shook her head, her eyes pleading. "No, it’s not over. I am ready to do anything to make sure I am part of the show."

Maren raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What could you possibly bring to the table? You have lost deals, and your reputation has taken a hit after what happened."

Mattie looked crestfallen, but she refused to give up, her next action left Maren smiling as she fell to her knees, her hands clasped together in a pleading gesture.

"I will do anything," she said, her voice desperate. "I will go on a strict diet, exercise, train... I will make sure to fit into the smallest dress you need. I need this so much, please..."

Maren scoffed, her expression unimpressed. "I will think about it," she said, her voice firm.

Mattie’s face lit up with hope. "Please, accept me," she begged. "I will do anything."

Maren repeated her earlier statement, her voice firm. "I said I will think about it, Mattie. That’s all I can promise you for now... the invitation was sent because our contract deal wasn’t expecting you to come."

Mattie looked embarrassed, but she finally nodded, bowing her head in defeat. "I hope I get good news," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

As Mattie turned to leave, Maren called out to her. "Mattie, wait."

Mattie turned back, a glimmer of hope in her eyes. "Yes?"

Maren’s expression softened slightly. "If you want this, you need to follow a strict diet and training in case I change my mind. But don’t forget to prioritize your baby’s health."

Mattie’s face lit up with gratitude. "I won’t forget," she promised. "Thank you, Maren."

As soon as Mattie walked out, Maren broke into a fit of pure laughter. She couldn’t help but feel satisfied seeing Mattie vulnerable for the first time.

Her laughter echoed through the room, and she wiped tears from her eyes as she tried to compose herself.

Just then, her assistant, Hannett, walked back into the room, a curious expression on her face. "What’s so funny?" she asked, eyeing her boss with amusement.

Maren’s laughter slowly died down, and she smiled mischievously. "Mattie just left, and I have some good news. She will be one of the models for our upcoming show."

Hannett’s expression changed, and she looked taken aback. "Really?" she asked, her voice laced with surprise.

Maren noticed the change in Hannett’s demeanor and raised an eyebrow. "What’s wrong?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.

Hannett hesitated, looking unsure of how to respond. "Nothing, it’s just...I didn’t think Mattie would be working with us again, I thought you had other plans" she said, her voice measured.

Maren’s curiosity was now fully aroused, and she leaned forward, her eyes locked on Hannett’s. "You don’t like Mattie?" Maren asked.

Hannett sighed, looking uncomfortable. "Well, you know how Mattie can be...difficult to work with. She’s always ordering people around and throwing tantrums when things don’t go her way."

Maren’s eyes widened in surprise, and she felt a pang of regret for not seeing Mattie’s true nature sooner. "I had no idea," she said, shaking her head. "Because of my love for Miles, I had thought she was just a talented model who needed guidance."

Hannett nodded a sympathetic expression on her face. "We all know your crush on Miles and I understand why you took her under your wing and started promoting her as one of our top models."

Maren felt a flush rise to her cheeks as she realized how blind she had been to Mattie’s true nature. "I was just trying to do my best to build her up as a model, like I do with all our talent," she said, trying to defend herself.

But Hannett just shook her head, a knowing glint in her eye. "We all knew why you were doing it, Ma’am. You were trying to get Miles’ attention, and you thought that by promoting Mattie, you could get closer to him."

Maren’s face fell, and she felt a pang of embarrassment. She had been so blinded by her love for Miles that she had ignored all the warning signs about Mattie’s behavior.

Hannett’s expression softened, and she reached out to put a hand on Man’s arm. "Don’t be too hard on yourself. We have all been there. And in the end, it all worked out. You got Miles, and we got rid of Mattie’s toxic behavior."

Maren smiled wryly, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Hannett for her honesty. "I guess you’re right," she said. "But I still can’t believe I was so blind to Mattie’s true nature. And I definitely can’t believe Miles would fall for her fake pregnancy and miscarriage scams," she announced

Just then, the door to the office burst open, and Miles walked in, a look of surprise on his face.

"What’s going on?" he asked, looking at Maren and Hannett’s serious expressions.

Maren and Hannett exchanged a glance, and then Maren spoke up, a mischievous glint in her eye.

"We were just discussing Mattie’s... interesting behavior," she said, trying to keep a straight face, hoping from the depth of her heart he didn’t hear what she had just said.

Miles raised an eyebrow, looking intrigued. "Oh? And what exactly did she do this time?"

Maren leaned back in her chair, a sly smile spreading across her face. "Let’s just say the game is about to begin," she announced, excited he didn’t hear what she had just said.

"How come you are here?" Maren asked, recalling she was chatting with him a few minutes ago before Hannett walked in.

"You took a long time to respond so I thought... I should come to see you myself," he replied, even though those words were from earlier in his head.

Maren was never pregnant but it was her cunning way of getting him and truly he fell for it.
