Chapter 207: HELPING HER

Astrid pulled into her driveway, exhausted from a long day at Maren’s company.

She had spent hours trying on dresses and attending meetings, and all she wanted to do was go to bed.

She sat in the car for a moment, collecting her thoughts before heading inside.

Just as she was about to get out of the car, a knock on the window startled her. She was scared at first until she saw the person outside.

She rolled down the window to find Julian standing outside, a concerned look on his face.

"Why are you sleeping in the car?" Julian asked, his voice low and gentle.

Astrid rubbed her eyes, trying to shake off the fatigue. "I wasn’t sleeping," she said, trying to sound more alert than she felt. "I was just resting my eyes. Why are you here again? And the only thing in your head was to startle me!"

Though Astrid was thrilled that Julian had shown up at her house again. She had grown accustomed to his presence, and the thought of him not being there for a day now was unbearable.

Julian didn’t respond to her question. Instead, he gestured for her to open her door.

Astrid hesitated for a moment before complying. "Don’t scare me that way again... And find your way to your house next time."

As she opened the door, Julian reached in and helped her remove her seatbelt. His fingers brushed against hers, sending a spark of electricity through her body.

Astrid felt a flutter in her chest as Julian’s face drew close to hers. She could smell the scent of his cologne, and her heart skipped a beat. She felt like she was melting into his eyes, and she couldn’t look away.

"Are you getting accustomed to this handsome man before you?" he whispered his voice was low and husky.

The admiring look in her eyes disappeared immediately, "Get out! I will leave the car myself " she announced but he just scoffed.

He wrapped his hands around her, about to lift her out but Astrid refused, trying to push him away.

"Don’t struggle," Julian whispered, his breath hot against her ear. Astrid melted at this but it didn’t get to her head. "I can walk, don’t control me," she let out as she pushed against his chest, trying to break free.

Julian’s eyes locked onto hers, and for a moment, they just stared at each other.

Then, in a move that caught Astrid off guard, Julian leaned in and whispered, "If you don’t stop struggling, I will kiss you."

Astrid’s eyes widened in surprise, and she clamped her hand over her mouth. Julian took advantage of the momentary distraction to lift her out of the car.

As they walked towards the house, Julian spoke out. "You are becoming too light," he said, his voice laced with concern. "You hardly eat, and it’s not good for your health."

Astrid bristled at the comment, her defenses rising. "I’m fine," she said, her voice firm. "I am satisfied with my current body, and no one is going to control me."

Julian raised an eyebrow, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "I am not trying to control you," he said. "I just want to make sure you are taking care of yourself."

Astrid didn’t respond, and Julian didn’t push the issue. Instead, he changed the topic again.

"You are becoming too busy these days are you still planning on attending the show that Maren had invited her to?" Astrid didn’t respond, and Julian felt irked at this but he didn’t press her for an answer.

As they reached the front door, Julian dropped her, opened the door, and gestured for Astrid to enter.

Astrid walked inside, only then did she know how exhausted she was, she wanted him to carry her again but didn’t want to say it.

Julian followed her closely behind and as they stepped into the foyer, Julian swept Astrid into his arms, cradling her against his chest.

Astrid felt a flutter in her chest as she wrapped her arms around his neck, her head nestling into the crook of his shoulder. She wasn’t going to argue now, she just wanted to be in his arms and Julian could only smile at this.

Julian carried her to the bedroom, his strides long and gentle. As they reached the bed, he gently laid her down, his hands lingering on her waist for a moment before he pulled back.

Astrid’s eyes drifted shut, her body relaxing into the softness of the bed. She felt a sense of exhaustion wash over her, her limbs heavy and unresponsive.

Julian’s voice was low and soothing as he spoke, his words dripping with gentleness. "Let me help you, Astrid. You’re exhausted."

Astrid’s eyes flickered open, her gaze meeting Julian’s. For a moment, they just looked at each other, the air thick with tension.

Then, without waiting for her response, Julian reached down and gently grasped her foot, his fingers wrapping around her ankle.

Astrid felt a shiver run down her spine as he began to remove her shoe, his touch sending sparks through her body.

Astrid’s eyes drifted shut, her body relaxing into the sensation. She felt like she was melting into Julian’s touch, her exhaustion and fatigue forgotten in the face of his gentle care.

Then, without a word, Julian stood up, his hand reaching out to help Astrid to her feet.

"Come on," he said, his voice low and gentle. "Let’s get you cleaned up."

"No... I am tired of doing that, I just want to rest," but Julain isn’t letting her go.

"I will cook for you," he added and then she nodded, her body swaying slightly as she stood up.

Julian’s arm wrapped around her waist, holding her steady as he guided her to the bathroom.

As they reached the bathroom, Julian turned on the faucet, the sound of running water filling the air.

Astrid felt a sense of relaxation wash over her, her exhaustion and fatigue forgotten in the face of Julian’s gentle care.

Without a word, Julian began to undress her, his fingers deftly removing her clothes.

Astrid felt a sense of shyness wash over her, but Julian’s touch was gentle and reassuring.

As he helped her into the bath, Astrid felt a sense of relief wash over her. She was safe, and Julian was taking care of her. For now, everything else could wait, she doesn’t want to care about any of their fights.
