Accidental Marriage With Mr Billioniare
Chapter 188: THE REPORT

Chapter 188: THE REPORT

Astrid shifted back in shock as Julian explained his reason for asking for forgiveness.

Shock etched on her face, her hands clamp on her mouth as she forced herself not to tear up.

Though she has been manipulated into getting married to Julian, she believes it the best decision ever made.

But what she can’t wrap her head around is her mum had helped her secretly and pretended not to do anything.

Seeing that someone else helped her get married to their son so she won’t be the wife of a man old enough to be her father made her feel touched at the same time betrayed.

The fact that she had always had the guilt of destroying someone’s life when in the other terms she was also used.

Donald’s expression turned grave as he moved closer to Julian not having a happy look.

"Child, this is a big story to take in, and I advise you to sit down so you don’t get too affected."

Maren quickly helped Astrid to the bed, sitting her down gently. "Yeah, you are not feeling well. You just escaped an explosion."

Julian, on the other hand, seemed frozen in place, unsure of how to react.

He had put Astrid through so much pain, and he didn’t know if he should try to comfort her or keep his distance.

Astrid herself was at a loss for words, her mind struggling to grasp the shocking revelation. She simply sat there, her eyes wide with shock.

Julian finally found his voice, taking a tentative step forward. "Astrid, I know it’s going to be hard to forgive me, but I will be here, until you forgive..."

Before he could finish, Donald swiftly brought him to stick down on Julian’s back, making him groan in pain.

Astrid’s eyes widened further, and she was about to stand up when Maren grabbed her hands, shaking her head.

"He deserves it," Maren whispered, her eyes flashing with anger as she thought of Miles, her own tormentor. If only someone would teach him a lesson.

As if summoned by her thoughts, Miles walked into the room, his eyes scanning the scene before him.

He froze, taking in the sight of Donald’s cane still raised, Julian on his knees, and Astrid’s shocked expression.

"What is going on here?" He asked but Donald stormed towards Miles, his cane still at the ready. "You!" he thundered, pointing the cane at Miles.

Miles stopped dead in his tracks, his eyes wide with shock. "Granddad, did I...?"

But before he could finish, Donald’s cane came down on his leg, sending him crashing to his knees. Miles glanced up at his friend, his expression pained.

Donald loomed over him, his eyes blazing with anger. "You’ve got a lot to answer for, young man."

"You were among the ones who had helped in manipulating my granddaughter’s marriage!" Miles’ eyes widened as he glanced at Julian.

"You know already?" another stick hit his head and he groaned, "Awww... I am so sorry, I thought of helping my best friend and also keeping the family dignity." This pissed Donald off more as he took a deep breath trying to relax.

Miles decided to use this opportunity he stood up gently still trying to calm his grandfather, "Granddad... I... promise I thought he would treat her well, never knew he would be a monster," Miles fought for himself and Julian clenched his fist.

"Enough please.." Astrid murmured, and the whole room was silent at once.

Donald gave his granddaughter a sad look as she looked up at them, "I want to be alone please, just for a while." she let out with her eyes shut.

"Astrid..." Miles tried to call but a glare from her, and he shut his mouth.

"Of course, it’s better we leave," Miles announced, moving toward Maren and gesturing for her to come along.

"Please... we hope you will be doing fine and won’t do anything stupid." Donald asserted and she could only give a slight nod. They all walked out after shooting her one last look.

Astrid’s hands clenched the duvet as the day’s events replayed in her mind. A pained laughter burst forth, and tears streamed down her face. Her body shook with each sob, her heart aching badly.

She wrapped her arms around herself, as if trying to hold herself together. Her fingers dug into her skin, pinching herself right where she was burned so it could lessen the pain.

Just then, the door flung open, and Dr. Lee rushed in, concern etched on his face. "Mrs. Logan!" he exclaimed, seeing how she was pinching herself, he rushed towards her.

Astrid’s gaze lifted, her eyes red-rimmed and tired. Dr. Lee’s hands enveloped hers, gently prying them off her bandaged arm.

"What are you doing?" he asked, alarm lacing his voice.

Astrid’s gaze dropped, her voice barely above a whisper. "Why are you here now? I want to be alone."

Dr. Lee’s expression softened. "I think it would be best if you had someone with you right now."

Astrid shook her head, a stubborn glint in her eye. "Is there no one you trust?" he asked, his voice laced with desperation, but she didn’t give a response.

Dr. Lee sighed, his eyes filled with compassion. He handed her a glass of water, his movements gentle.

She stared at the water for a while before taking it.

"I got the footage of the walkway," he said quietly, and she immediately dropped the bottle.

"It shows everyone who entered the ward, but the faces are unclear. The one camera that could have shown their face is conveniently malfunctioning at that time so we can’t tell much."

Astrid’s lip trembled as she asked, "Dr. Lee, do you think she died a natural death?" Her voice was barely above a whisper as if she was afraid to voice her doubts.

Dr. Lee’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed hard. "Mrs. Logan, why don’t you believe that and just..."

Astrid’s head shook violently, cutting him off. Her eyes held anger.

"I want it to be done by someone, I need someone to avenge my anger on!" tears slipped out of her eyes.

"It can’t be natural... I might have lost consciousness that day... I can tell she was killed." she stared at him again.

"Did a grandpa tell you to hide it?" she voiced out again but Dr Lee shook his head.

"He is someone rich, so I am pretty sure some games have been used."

"Mrs.."

"Dr. Lee, I trusted you with my mother’s life, are you going to just let it go even though you can clearly tell it wasn’t a natural death."

He sighed and then pulled out the files he was hiding under his coat and handed it to her. She collected it from him wondering what it was.

"I didn’t want to give you this file not because I am scared of losing my work, but because I didn’t want to cause you more pain."

"It’s her report files..." She looked up at him, "What is with this? What can I use it for?"

"After that night, I decided to do my research. That is when I noticed the tip of the injection in her neck." He revealed.

"What?"

"I did my research on my own because I could tell that she wasn’t supposed to die then," he added.

"I haven’t told anyone this because I blamed myself all this while and was terrified of losing my job." Astrid hands clenched against the file.

"You are saying here that it is in her medical report file that my mother was murdered?" He looked down and she bit her tongue.

"I got to trace back to the used syringe, which contains cyanide, still hasn’t been confirmed though," he announced.

Astrid picked up her phone, inserting the flash drive, to check the videos, sh could only tell the people entering when she was still with her mum, but the moment Tonia stepped inside and Astrid also walked out the video stopped, she laughed painfully

"It isn’t going to be her right?" she mumbled, then Dr Lee shook his head, no... Mrs Adam left immediately then.." his eyes widened as he stopped like he recalled something.

"Mr. Chris was here that day," Astrid squinted her gaze at this.

"Rowan?" she asked to be sure and he nodded his head, "Yes, he seems to have a close relationship with your mother, and..." She didn’t wait for him to complete his sentence.

She dialed his contact instantly, "Hello.." her voice trembled, "Rowan... I am in the hospital, can I see you?"
