Accidental Marriage With Mr Billioniare
Chapter 178: THE DINNER TABLE

Chapter 178: THE DINNER TABLE

Astrid’s world was turned upside down as she listened to Stephan and Mattie’s conversation. She couldn’t believe that they had been sleeping together behind Julian’s back.

A crazy idea popped into her head, and she quickly pulled out her phone to record the events. Mattie had always embarrassed and harassed her, and now Astrid had the upper hand.

"Stephan, if you tell him now, what do you think is going to become our fate?" Mattie asked, her voice laced with worry.

"Julian won’t get married to you," Stephan replied, his tone cold.

"Listen to yourself! Julian agreed to give me a private wedding. Has he slept with you? Do you take him for a fool?"

"He isn’t... it’s because he loves me!" she yelled stupidly leaving Astrid stunned.

Stephan cut her off, his voice rising. "Mattie, this shouldn’t be discussed again! The baby is mine and I wouldn’t allow him to be the father."

A loud smack echoed through the air, making Astrid’s eyes widen in shock. Stephan’s face must have stung from Mattie’s slap.

"Are you crazy?" Mattie yelled. "You want the whole world to know I have been cheating on him with you for over five years? Don’t be stupid."

Astrid snickered to herself, amazed at Julian’s gullibility. How could he not notice their relationship? Now she understood why Stephan had been bullying her all along.

Stephan’s voice took on a desperate tone. "Yes, I am tired of being guilt-tripped, Mattie. I love you so much, but all you want is Julian. Fine, I accept that, but this child won’t be..."

Mattie’s voice cut him off. "Granddad said your family’s stock is flopping. You don’t want it to get worse immediately."

Stephan’s voice rose, his anger boiling over. "And do you fucking know the reason, Mattie?"

Mattie’s eyes must have widened in fear because Stephan’s next words made her shut her mouth.

"That’s because Julian loves Astrid! He stopped being friends with me and even made sure the men I hired in Paris were thrown into jail after making them go through hell."

Astrid’s hand quivered as she held her phone, her heart racing with shock. Julian had never mentioned anything to her, and she had thought he never cared about her.

"Mattie, he didn’t deny your pregnancy and just accepted, don’t you think he has a plan? For fuck sake can you just leave Jukian and let things be at peace?"

Mattie’s voice sent chills down Astrid’s spine. "Never!" she yelled. "I won’t leave Julian. If I had to take Astrid out of this world, just like her mother, I would do it over and over again!"

Astrid’s leg quivered at the mention of her mother. She didn’t want to believe Mattie had a hand in her mother’s death. It was just a threat, she told herself. But the words cut deep, and Astrid felt a wave of fear wash over her as her leg hit the door.

This got both lad’s attention."Who’s there?" Mattie’s voice echoed, and Astrid’s eyes widened.

She quickly tiptoed out of the place before they could catch her and slipped back to the dining room, trying to compose herself. She didn’t want them to know she had overheard their conversation.

Donald’s voice broke the silence. "Did you get the bathroom?" Astrid nodded absent-mindedly, still reeling from what she had just heard.

"Where the heck is Stephan and Mattie?" Tonia asked, looking around the table.

"They haven’t been in this dining room for a while." Only then did Julian notice Mattie’s absence. He had been so lost in thought, worrying about Astrid, that he hadn’t even noticed.

Astrid on the other hand couldn’t shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in her stomach. She couldn’t just sit on Mattie’s words. She felt a surge of anxiety, her heart racing with anticipation.

"Your food is getting cold," Julian whispered beside her, which made her shudder.

"Hi, I am her." Mattie let out and her eyes went to the way Astrid and Julian were sitting together.

"Why did you come late?" Donald asked, confused.

"Stephan is my friend too... I was worried about the so-called stock and I also heard he has some issues with Julian.." She outed her lip as she moved closer to Julain.

"Don’t you think you can forgive Stephan for any crazy things that have happened between you?" she asked Julian who rolled his hand tirelessly.

"Astrid... you can come to have your sit here, Mattie would want to sit beside Julain.." Tonia announced and Astrid glared at her.

"No,"

"What?"

"You heard me aunt, I said no.." she repeated, "Wow... are you so shameless now that you planned to sit beside your cousin..." Astrid stomped her hands on the dining table shutting Tonia, and making everyone startled.

She stood on her feet glaring at Tonia "I was here first Aunty... I get you don’t like me but stop making it obvious and saying trashy words that would annoy me." she yelled leaving everyone speechless.

"As... Astrid.." Miles called in shock trying to put her in place but Mattie butted ins

"You don’t have to be disrespectful to my mum Astrid, Haven’t you flirted with my fiance en..." but Mattie’s word was cut off by a slap from Astrid.

Those words about her mother echoed in her head, "I have enough of this already, I wouldn’t accept any stupid bullying from one of you anymore.." she yelled picking up her bag.

"I am sorry Granddad, I need to leave," she announced, still trying to compose herself.

"Astrid you bitch!" Mattie cried out rushing toward Astrid but before she could hit her, Julian grabbed her hands.

"Enough!" Julian yelled, Astrid only scoffed at this.

"Happy stupid marriage life to you both, and stop your silly interruption in my life!" She yelled at them both as she found herself out of the mansion.

"Julian... see she... just slapped me and you don’t want me to return mine?" she asked in shock, "She slapped your pregnant fiancee.." Julian took a deep breath.

"I am sorry, we will talk tomorrow.." he announced, pushing her out of the way as he stormed out of the mansion, leaving the dinner table in disarray.

"Julian! Where are you going?" Mattie cried out, but he didn’t look back. All he could think about was Astrid.

As he approached the parking lot, he saw Astrid pacing beside his car, wiping away tears. "Astrid..." he called out, but she cut him off.

"Take me home," she said, her voice firm.

Julian nodded, opening the car door for her. But before he could help her in, she got in herself, her eyes avoiding his.

Without another word, Julian got into the driver’s seat and drove out of the mansion.

Meanwhile, back at the dinner table, Mattie was having a meltdown. "Granddad!" she cried out, running toward Donald.

"See what your lovely granddaughter just did? No one dares ruin a meal in your house... why are you letting her go scot-free?"

Donald stood up, his eyes cold. "You can leave after dinner. I need to take my rest." With that, he turned his back on them and walked out of the dining room but Mattie wouldn’t let it go.

"Granddad! You’re not saying anything about your disrespectful child!" she cried, her voice shrill. "My fiancé is taking her home... you should call him..." But Donald didn’t look back, leaving Mattie to her tears.
