Chapter 154: HER MIGRAIN

Chapter 154: HER MIGRAIN

Astrid slowly opened her eyes taking in her surroundings. She was lying in a bed, and it was that of hers.

She wondered how she got home, she tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over her, forcing her back onto the pillow.

As she lay there, she noticed that someone had dressed her in one of her pajama shirts. This made her more worried.

She tried to recall the events of the previous day, but everything was hazy and indistinct.

Panic began to set in as she struggled to remember what had happened. Her head was pounding continuously.

She grabbed her head, still forcing herself but that pain increased.

"Damn, I wasn’t supposed to drink." she cried out still forced to recall the previous night even she screamed in pain as faint memories began to flood back.

"Please stop!" she groaned but it was becoming worse, her hands ruffled through her hair as tears trickled

The door burst open, and Julian rushed in, concern etched on his face.

"Astrid, how are you feeling? Is it that bad" he asked, staring at her as he grabbed her both hands.

Astrid tried to speak, but her voice was hoarse and barely audible. Julian’s eyes filled with worry as he looked at her.

Just then, Dr. Lee walked into the room, a look of concern on his face seeing the way she was crying her hands still on her head. "Astrid, get hold of yourself, the doctor is here to treat you."

Dr Lee’s eyes widened in shock upon hearing the name of the gorgeous woman before him.

"Why are you standing there? I called you because I couldn’t reach my friend don’t piss me off." He let us and Dr Lee quickly move forward.

"It’s been a long time Mrs. Logan," Astrid tried to smile, but it was more of a grimace. "I am sorry," she whispered. "I didn’t mean to worry you, Julian you shouldn’t have called the..." she groaned and Julian took her hand into his.

"You don’t have to apologize, it’s his job," he said, his voice soft and gentle. "I just want to take care of you, I know you will be hurt, I can’t watch that."

Dr. Lee smiled warmly and moved close to get "So, tell me, Mrs. Logan, what’s going on with this banging headache of yours?" he asked, his eyes twinkling with concern.

Astrid winced, trying to remember the events of the previous day. "I...I don’t know, Doctor. I just woke up with this awful headache, even though I drank yesterday when I was not supposed to."

Dr. Lee nodded thoughtfully as he examined Astrid. "I see. Well, you’re likely experiencing a migraine, possibly triggered by the alcohol you consumed yesterday. The best course of treatment would be a migraine injection to help alleviate the symptoms."

Astrid’s eyes widened in fear as Dr. Lee prepared the injection. "I don’t like needles," she whispered, her voice trembling.

Julian, who had been standing by her side, immediately sensed her distress. He gently took her hand in his, his fingers intertwining with hers. "Hey, it’s okay," he whispered. "I am here with you."

Astrid’s eyes met Julian’s, and she felt calm at the same time embarrassed.

Dr. Lee smiled kindly at Astrid. "Don’t worry, it’s just a quick pinch. You will feel better in no time."

Julian leaned in closer to Astrid, his breath whispering against her ear. "You’re strong, you can do this. Just take a deep breath and look at me."

Astrid took a deep breath, her eyes locked on Julian’s. She felt his fingers tighten around hers, and his warm breath on her skin.

Dr. Lee quickly administered the injection, and Astrid felt a slight pinch. But with Julian by her side, she hardly noticed it.

As the injection took effect, Astrid began to feel a sense of relief wash over her. Her headache started to subside, and her body began to relax.

Dr. Lee smiled at her. "You should start to feel better soon. Just remember to stay hydrated and avoid any triggers that might cause another migraine."

Julian helped Astrid sit up, his arm around her shoulders. "I will continue from here," Julain let out and he nodded.

"Good, Mrs. Logan, try to manage your stress levels, okay? Stress can be a major trigger for migraines aside from drinking." Astrid smiled a bit thanking him.

Dr. Lee smiled again. "By the way, you look lovely Mrs Logan,"

Astrid’s face lit up with excitement, and she couldn’t help but feel a little pleased with herself. She smiled up at Dr. Lee, feeling a sense of gratitude towards him.

But before she could respond, Julian suddenly appeared at her side, his eyes narrowing suspiciously at Dr. Lee.

"I think that’s enough, Doctor," he said, his voice low and possessive. "Astrid doesn’t need any more...attention from you."

Dr. Lee’s face turned bright red as he apologized profusely. "I am so sorry, Julian. I didn’t mean to overstep any boundaries." he apologized quickly.

Astrid rolled her eyes, feeling a little embarrassed by Julian’s behavior. "Julian, stop it," she whispered, trying to calm him down.

But Julian just glared at Dr. Lee, and he quickly bowed and left them.

As soon as Dr. Lee left, Julian sat down beside Astrid and gently told her to go have a bath. "You will feel better after a bath," he said, his voice soft and soothing.

"And then we can have breakfast without any arguments because of your banging headache."

Astrid bit her lip knowing he was trying to avoid any question thrown at him.

"Okay," she said, getting up and going to have a bath.

*******

Astrid got to the living room and was met with the sight of Julian arranging the table for breakfast.

He had already set out a plate of food for her, but what caught Astrid’s attention was that Julian was dressed and ready to go out.

He was wearing a suit and tie, and his hair was slicked back. Astrid felt a pang of disappointment and hurt.

"Where are you going?" Astrid asked, trying to keep her tone light as she strutted toward him.

"I have some business to attend to," Julian replied, not meeting her eyes.

"You are going to see Mattie, aren’t you?" she accused.

Julian didn’t respond, and instead, he helped her sit in the dining room, he didn’t want to trigger her migraine and felt it best to just ignore her words.

"Julian, what happened yesterday?" Astrid asked, trying to keep her tone light.

Julian didn’t respond, and instead, stretched her spoon to get to eat. Astrid was mad at the way he ignored her and just proceeded with eating, not ready to argue with him anymore.

When she was done eating, Jlain tried helping her to her room but she stopped him.

"You can leave now I will handle myself here," Julian exhaled sharply and just nodded.

"I will call you later, then," Julian said, "Just rest and take care of yourself." with this he walked toward the door.

Astrid was mad, and she picked up the neatly arranged spoon and hurled it at his back. "You are just going to walk out on me like that?" she exclaimed.

Julian didn’t budge, and Astrid felt a pang of regret.

But then she threw a cup at him, and it broke on the ground. Astrid gasped, seeing that the cup had hit Julian in the face, causing a scratch.

"Julian, I am so sorry!" Astrid exclaimed, rushing to his side.

But Julian just shook his head, turned, and walked away, leaving Astrid.

"I’m sorry, Julian!" Astrid called after him, but he just didn’t argue and just left.

Astrid watched as Julian walked out the door, with guilt, worry, and regret. She couldn’t believe she had thrown a cup at him, and now he was gone.

As she stood there, still feeling guilty, her phone rang, breaking the silence. She picked it up and placed it on her ear and then that familiar voice rang in her ear.

"Hey, Astrid," he said, his tone awkward.

"Hey, Dad," she replied coldly, she hadn’t reached out to him for long because she was still mad at him.

There was an uncomfortable silence on the line, and Astrid could feel the tension between them.

"So, how are you?" her father asked finally, breaking the silence.

Astrid shrugged, even though her father couldn’t see her. "I am fine, I guess."

"Astrid, I was thinking... Maybe you can come for dinner tonight,"

"What’s there to talk about?" Astrid retorted and her father sighed.

"Astrid, I know we haven’t been on good terms, but I want to try to make things right between us. Can we please just talk?"

Astrid hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to say. But something about her father’s tone made her feel like maybe, just maybe, he was sincere.

"Fine," she approved

Her father’s tone was relieved. "Thank you, Astrid. I will be expecting you tonight dear," with that he hung up.
