Chapter 153: CARING FOR HER

Chapter 153: CARING FOR HER

Maren stumbled out of the car, drunk but still managing to control herself and find his way out of his way.

But then she froze seeing the mansion before her, it didn’t look like hers she had expected him to take her home to the unfamiliar resident.

"I know I am drunk, but I am sure you are not drunk to not know my apartment and bring me here," she whispered

Miles rushed to her side, "This is mine," Maren scoffed.

"Oh, I am drunk now you have sex with me, I promise I won’t remember in the morning." Maren felt sad all she was thinking about now was having just sex with him.

But his thought was cut short seeing how she wobbled toward the mansion.

"Hey... you are not walking right you can fall," Miles said worriedly as he rushed again to her but she slapped his hands off.

"I can," she declined his help.

"Just watch me" she murmured, he shook his head seeing how bad she was wobbling.

He then scooped her up in his arms and he carried her towards his apartment.

The maids immediately aligned seeing their boss’ car but were left in awe as they watched Miles carry a woman into the building.

This was the first time he had ever brought a woman back to his apartment, and they couldn’t help but wonder who this mysterious woman was.

"Welcome back boss," they greeted warmly as they tried to move close to him but he gestured for them to stop.

"Get me some warm water and a towel," he announced and proceeded into his room.

"Get me down you motherfycker!" she kept screaming wildly as she thrashed her leg around telling him to let her down hug he paid a deaf ear.

He got to his room and placed her on his king-sized bed, she looked up at him with a mixture of confusion and attraction.

"Why did you bring me here? You should have just taken me to my apartment. It’s not like you don’t know it." Instead, he smiled at her, he had missed her all this long, and he couldn’t help but be filled with regret at how he had kept pushing her away from him.

He only knew how important she was to him the night he saw her bleeding only to find she had had an abortion to stay away from him since that was what he wanted.

He always blamed himself for being a douchebag and lost the opportunity of becoming a father.

"Maybe if you want to go to your apartment next time you shouldn’t drink to the extent of making me take a cab when you know how much I hate it." she narrowed her eyes at this.

"A cab? What’s new.." he murmured and he tried placing her well on the bed as he sat beside her.

She raised her head and tried to kiss him, but Miles immediately shifted back, avoiding her lips.

Maren didn’t say anything, simply laying back on the bed, "You are not attracted to me, so why the hell am I in your apartment."

"Maren, you’re drunk. Whatever we need to talk about can wait until you’re sober. Besides I can bring you to my apartment so you spend the night here not for sex."

But Maren scoffed and was insistent. She managed to stand up from the bed, swaying unsteadily as she looked at Miles.

"If not for sex why did you bring me here?" She asked again, her voice slurred.

Miles was taken aback by her question. He didn’t know how to answer her, didn’t know how to explain the feelings he had for her.

Just then there was a knock at the door. The maid walked in with a tray of warm water, also the knowing smile on her face didn’t go unnoticed.

Miles breathed a sigh of relief, hoping this make them change the topic,

"Thank you," he said, taking the tray from the maid. "Please, you can excuse us alone for now."

The maid nodded and backed out of the room, still giggling and leaving Miles alone with Maren.

He looked down at her, "Come back here you can go to your apartment tomorrow when you are sober."

Maren sat back down on the bed, looking up at Miles with exhaustion. Miles took a deep breath, trying to gather his thoughts.

"I will explain everything tomorrow," he said, his voice soft and gentle.

"Whatever conversation we’re going to have, I don’t want you to remember it like this. You are drunk, and I don’t want to take advantage of you."

Maren nodded, her eyes already starting to droop. Miles helped her lie back down on the bed and then began to massage her temples.

"You need to take some Aspirin," he said, getting up to get her some water and pills. "So you don’t have much headache tomorrow."

Maren, not in the mood to argue, took the pills and water from him, swallowing them down without a word. Miles sat back down beside her.

"You should go to sleep now," he murmured again. "It’s surprising you are nice to me, hope to see those same eyes when you wake up tomorrow morning,"

He scoffed and nodded his head, and then watched her lay back on the bed, her back facing him.

A bit of relief washed through her heart, she finally got the man she yearned for all these years. He finally cared for her, she thought with a small smile as she closed her eyes.

Then his next word made her stunned, "I am so sorry for being a douchebag," he whispered, his voice barely audible.

"I am sorry for leaving without telling you. It was an emergency, and I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know what our relationship was, so I just left."

Maren’s eyes flickered open, with her back still faced against and she smiled slightly at Miles. But she didn’t say anything, just closed her eyes again and fell asleep with a big smile on her face.

One thought in her head, "Hope he proceeds with the same energy when they both wake up tomorrow."

Miles smiled seeing she drifted off to sleep as he turned off the light. "Goodnight queen."
