Astrid walked inside her mum’s room and the sound of the beeping machine echoed.

She ran to her mum with excitement, "Doctor Lee.. she is going to survive it right? She would speak to me again right?"

She asked continuously and he could only nod his head, his mind still flashing through what had occurred a few minutes ago.

She sat beside her mum grabbing her mum’s hand and placing it on her chest.

"Mum, you are going to be okay soon, finally I can touch you.." she let out with a proud smile on her face.

Just then he cleared his throat, "I should probably leave, so you can have a chat with her."

"Hold on doctor.." Astrid called out now staring at him, "Sorry I needed to stop you midway, I just have a question bothering me,"

"The payment I was expecting..."

"Oh," he interrupted her, "Mr. Chris settled everything," and the door pushed open with Julian, Miles, and Stephan stepping inside.

"Oh, welcome Mr. Logan, I will take my leave now," He let out not wanting to get in any more trouble. He bowed and walked out of the room.

The whole room was silent with Astrid’s mum’s hand being placed on her chest with Astrid smiling happily as she patted her mum.

Julian had a lot of questions, but could only watch her "You have a lot of questions to ask right?" she began, speaking out his mind.

"Yeah, starting with the question of how she got here when she was supposed to be in DE-CHRIS hospital," Stephan responded, making Miles and Julian exchange glances and stare at him.

"What?" They both let out in unison and he rolled his eyes.

"I owe nobody an explanation to this, just act like you never saw this and we would be so fine." Julian wasn’t finding it funny with her words.

"Astrid," Julian called, moving closer to her, "I am your husband," he added, gesturing to himself.

"On the paper you are," she affirmed, now facing him with him. "But, in your heart, I am nothing compared to Mattie," her eyes locked with Stephan at the mention of this.

"Ast.."

"Please, we are in a room with a patient," she intercepted him. Julian felt hurt by this.

"Fine, I will leave, and truly with what you had said you are nothing in my heart just a paper binding us together," he spoke out.

She took in a deep breath and nodded her head. Miles noticed her hurt reaction and exhaled sharply.

"Have a nice night," he told her and stormed out of the room, Stephan exchanged glances with her also and then tagged along with Julian.

Miles blows out a rasp of air staying at her, "Aren’t you going to leave too?" she asked almost in tears.

Miles snickered at this and moved close to her, now patting her shoulder gently.

"Was this the reason why you got closer to Rowan?" He asked and she shut her eyes.

"How do you get my information?"

"Maybe, because once I set my eyes on something I wasn’t I make sure to get it," he let out with his arms spread as a big smile appeared on his face.

Astrid bit her lip staring at Miles, tears trickling down her face slowly and he furrowed his eyebrow seeing this.

"Gorgeous... why?" She embraced him right before he could complete his word.

Miles was stunned at first, his thought flashed through how his friend might feel if he saw them hugging.

He had just witnessed his dangerous expression in a long time, the last time he reacted that way was when they were still a skid.

Even though he is locked in the middle, Miles can tell his friend is beginning to fall for Astrid without even knowing it.

"It hurt!" She cried out and burst into tears, "Miles slowly took his hand to her back patting her gently.

"Let it out, Gorgeous," he whispered, and as if she was waiting for the order she did as told, wailing her eyes out with Miles patting her gently.

Outside the door stood Julian who could hear her cry, and clenched his fist because he couldn’t go back there and be with her.

He recalled her words where she told him never to show her care and mislead her heart, he didn’t want to do so knowing Mattie would come to him when she was discharged.

He needed to do all she wanted and that would hurt Astrid deeply. "Do you love her?" Stephan cut through his thoughts.

Julian glanced at Stephan and then grabbed his shirt, "You called yourself my friend.." Julian gritted out and he stared at him shocked

"Why didn’t you tell me about this?" He asked, slamming him against the wall. Stephan sighed both hands rose in surrender

"She didn’t tell you so I see no reason why I should,"

"Stephan!" He growled, "Man, Mattie loves you! So forget the silly infatuation you have for Astrid and face Mattie."

Stephan retorted in anger pushing Julian back, "She has lost her memory, and the one she needs most now is you so, stop acting like a mother fucker and do what is right." Stephan adjusts his shirt and walks off.

Julian stared at his friend speechless and then his fist tightened in anger as he could no longer hear her cry, "I love her," those words of Miles echoed through his head.

"I will give you one year before pursuing her, and make her mine," another sentence echoed through his head.

He slammed his fist on the wall punching it real hard, now startling the doctor who was about to walk into their ward.

The young doctor glanced at him and then Julian gestured for him to come forward, noticing this room cost a lot of money.

"You know how she got here?" He asked and he hesitated at first.

"Are you going to speak or lose your job?" Julian threatened and he swallowed hard and shook his head.

"I don’t but the chairman was contacted before her arrival and he had sent the best practitioner to attend to her," Julian took a deep breath at this.

Stephan didn’t know she was here, and Mile didn’t react either to the shock, it meant that he knew about it.

"The chairman knows..." he repeated and gestured for him to leave now storming toward the chairman’s office.

"Julian... where are you?" Stephan’s words were cut short when he pulled the chairman’s office door open barging inside.

"Oh... Good day, Mr... Logan, how.."

"Who paid for my wife’s mom ’s medical expenses?" he swallowed hard, recalling how everyone has made known that she shouldn’t tell us so about him being behind the payment.

"We.."

Julian tried controlling his anger, "You want me getting you out of your position right?" the chairman swallowed now looking so anxious.

" Mr. Logan, the person behind him has told me not to reveal it!"

"Fucking hell! Tell me who he is or I will make you regret it for the rest of your life, ain’t allowing no man help me pay my woman’s bill!" Stephan stood outside staring at him blow off.

"Mr. Chris did," he answered now scared.

Julian’s eyes furrowed at the mention of the name, "Rowan Chris?" Julian asked again and the chairman nodded his head.

He also knows how they are always in competition with this, and knows this would piss him off so bad.

Julian took on a deep breath, "Send my Pa every damn shit the bills cost he had paid, I am sending it back,"

"But.."

"Don’t make me lose it," he warned and the doctor nodded gently and he walked out his gaze meeting with that of Stephan.

He didn’t say anything and just walked out and tilted his head to the sides, those words echoing through his head.

His phone buzzed and he checked to see it was from Ryan, "Boss... your dad wants a Zoom meeting with you. Videos of you getting furious were pasted all over the city."

"Then get it off before calling me to tell me to thrash it!" he yelled at the phone and Ryan was shocked.

"I will be the boss!"

He blocked on his phone now looking for the one number he never planned that he would ever be calling.

He took a deep breath and he picked up after the fifth ring.

"The sun is surely gonna rise from the south today,"

"You paid my woman’s bills!" he asked, not having time for his humor.

"Never heard of that, because I can recall your woman is Mattie Adams," Julian’s fist clenched hard on his phone.

"So you did pay her bills instead of letting her husband do it?"

"She would be mine in a year to come, so I thought of doing little favors to get her heart easily." Julian scoffed at this.

"The project we are both working on," Rowan’s ears perked at this, "Make it yours including my ideas." he let out and Rowan jumped from his seat.

"Excuse me?"

"We are even for the help you offered the next time you close to Astrid Daniel, I will destroy your whole career."
