A Regressor's Guide to the Frozen Apocalypse -
Chapter 96: Mutation (2)
Chapter 96: Mutation (2)
"System, tell me, do I need to do this mutation in the real world? After all, I’ll suffer, I don’t want to worry the people around me. After all, they are one of my reasons to fight." asked Light.
After a short period, he was greeted with a system window that read [If you want to, sir, we can start the mutation while you are in your inventory, but I recommend you do it in an empty part of your inventory, we don’t know what you can do due to the pain].
Light’s leg was indeed healed, there was still a little pain, but there was really no trace of its original state. Of course, this made Light think about mutation.
He was already very strong, but if he wanted to protect this ’Utopia’ he had built, if he wanted to protect his sister in it, this was something he had to do.
"Alright..." Light suddenly said and then logged into his inventory.
He walked for a while in his inventory, until he came to a place where the things he bought were no longer visible. He had walked for almost two hours, and there were kilometres and kilometres of supplies, tools, building materials, sports equipment, plant equipment, weapons and ammunition, and much more, laid out in an orderly fashion.
This, of course, caused Light to walk for kilometres.
He could no longer look back and see anything, and with that, he asked the question, "What do we do now?"
With that, he started to wait. One minute turned into ten minutes, ten minutes turned into half an hour and nothing happened.
Just as he was about to call out to the system, Light suddenly felt his heart beating hard and only once.
Instantly he was on his knees. Blood began to flow from his nostrils, mouth, ears and eyes.
He was trying to understand what had happened. He was in such a state of shock that it took him a few dozen seconds to even feel the pain in his body, indeed it was as if he was forbidden to breathe.
It was as if God had come and started to squeeze Light’s throat and blocked his lungs.
At that moment, Light saw the system window he had been waiting for:
[Mutation Success Probability: ???%
Mutation Success Reward: ???%
Mutation Progression: 1%]
Light really couldn’t believe what he was seeing, as usual. For almost a minute he had been bleeding unbelievably profusely, and on top of that he had been breathless, yet he was not dying or anything.
Only a shock that prevented him from even shouting and a tremendous pain was being loaded into his body.
Light could literally feel every single muscle cell being ripped apart, yet every time a muscle cell was ripped apart, it was as if it was suddenly regenerating.
Pain and a strange feeling of relief were overloading him.
It was incredibly heavy.
He could feel his heart pounding. It was so heavy that every time his heart pounded it felt like someone was beating a drum inside his body.
His head was throbbing and his brain felt like it was being eaten alive, the pain was so great that he could not even understand how he had not fainted yet.
He was sure that almost an hour had passed, and he could feel that he had been in great pain for a long time, yet when he raised his head and looked up at the open system window, what he saw made him wish he was dead:
[Mutation Success Probability: ???%
Mutation Success Award: F-Tier
Mutation Progression: 3%]
He had been suffering for so long and he had only made 3% progress? This was complete rubbish, he thought the system was playing a trick on him and cursed himself.
This was the biggest moment in the last 6 months when he felt so low and useless.
He fell face down on the floor. He could hear his bones crunching. The pain he felt in his head, in his brain, was increasing exponentially, as if every passing second the level of pain was being increased by the system.
The possibility that mutated people might have experienced these things really managed to reveal the danger of the virus once again.
This could not continue like this. He had to open his mouth and tell the system that he wanted to give up, even though his throat was full of blood. He could not endure this pain.
He still didn’t even know how he hadn’t died. He had been out of breath for minutes if not hours, so how could he have been completely unaffected?
At that moment his whole body twisted. The bones of his feet were literally cracked and maybe broken into pieces, he could see that his feet were not moving, it was a terrible sight, it was so cruel.
Suddenly, however, a comforting sensation, mixed with pain, grasped his full foot and ankle. The bones had been restored and, if the system was correct, much improved.
The strange scar on his foot that he had acquired when he was young was no longer there, it was completely healed.
After that, it must have been the turn of his legs because he experienced the same pain from the kneecap to the ankle and his legs managed to stand for a few seconds like noodles.
He was able to recover from the pain and the feeling of comfort and was able to breathe deeply.
When he looked at the system window again, he saw that thing that would give him hope:
[Mutation Success Probability: 67%
Mutation Success Award: C-Tier
Mutation Progression: 34%]
He instantly smiled like a psychopath, the blood on his teeth, and the gutter of blood flowing from his mouth made him feel like a monster in a horror film.
Nevertheless, he was still moving forward. Where there had been question marks before, they were now covered with numbers and letters.
Light was going to make it.
