Chapter 88: Newtown Calls For Aid!
Chapter 88: Newtown Calls For Aid!
Elise and Pacifica had returned home and Petunia had finally finished her job and was able to leave her room.
Lawrence put the food on the plates and Jack joined them for a feast that lasted for an hour, mixed with conversation, before it was finally over.
The group chatted happily and after a long time Pacifica, Petunia and Light were able to enjoy themselves without any real trouble.
Still, not everything could go well, it was not possible in such a shitty world.
"THUD!!! THUD!!! THUD!!!"
There was a very loud knocking on the door of the house. Lawrence didn’t realise what was going on and looked through the doorway to see that it was Charles.
As soon as Lawrence opened the door, Charles spoke:
"I need to speak to sir! It’s urgent!’"
When Light heard Charles’ voice, he got up and went to the door of the house to see what was going on.
"What is it Charles?" asked Light.
"Sir...Newtown has just received word of a zombie raid. Mr George made an immediate request for help, it is thought to be more than a thousand zombies. Newtown calls for aid!" Charles replied.
Light opened and closed his eyes in surprise at these words and then gave a direct order, "Get ready, we’re going out!"
"All ready sir!" replied Charles, it seemed to work in Utopia’s favour to have all troops on standby just in case.
Light prepared quickly, leaving the house in a very short time with Pacifica and Jack in tow.
With almost a hundred and fifty people, they got into nearly forty vehicles and started heading towards Newtown. At that moment, Light turned on the radio and started talking:
"As soon as we reach Newtown, our first goal will be to hunt down any zombies or mutant zombies that have passed through the barriers and walls. Whatever you do, take care of yourselves. Your lives are precious, so remember to focus on protecting each other. Over."
With Light’s words, the vehicles continued to move at full speed.
After only 25 minutes, the border of Newtown on the north side became clear.
When Light and the whole group got out of the vehicles, they felt like they couldn’t believe their eyes. It was clear that there were more than a thousand zombies, maybe two thousand, maybe three thousand zombies standing in front of them.
It was obvious that the group was getting scared. Even if Light was not afraid, he was still worried. When he used his Inspection skill, he could see hundreds of mutant zombies.
The weakest of these mutant zombies were only Tier 3, there were Tier 4 and even two Tier 5s.
In short, there was a reason for his concern.
"Be careful, I don’t want you to get close to those two jet-black zombies you see over there, they can easily force me, I don’t even wanna say what they can do to you all. What we’re going to do is start moving forward from where the normal zombies are, throw gas bombs on the snow, maybe we can weaken the zombies, never take off our masks and run full speed behind the barricades and walls. Over!"
When Light gave this direct order over the radio, he checked his weapon and then started to advance, the group following behind him, a huge army of almost 150 men advancing.
Light connected to the frequency of the radio he had given to George and then said, "We’re coming in from the north. Over."
With that, they were within a hundred metres. Dozens of gas bombs were thrown into the area at the same time.
There was a gap of about three hundred metres between the barricades and the walls behind them and the gas bombs.
The fact that the air was clear indicated that the content of the gas bomb would rise first to the surroundings and then to the air.
"Thank you, they’ve broken through the barricades, they’ve broken through the walls, and we’re at war. Over."
As soon as Light heard these voices, he began to hear the sound of gunfire in the distance. Smoke was visible rising from the centre into the sky, distress flares were scattered around, and more zombies seemed to be coming from the surroundings.
The gas bombs had already exploded and started to spread around. Most zombies were being affected by the bombs, but not the mutant zombies.
"FREE FIRE!!!" Light suddenly shouted, and the entire troop was pinned down. At that moment, the sound of the shots began to echo throughout the area:
"RAT-A-TAT-TAT-TAT"
"BRRRAP!!!"
"BANG!!!"
About one hundred and fifty people were firing at the same time, it was like an active battlefield.
At that moment, one of the mutant zombies started running among the other zombies. This zombie, which was literally the size of a tank, was running directly to where Light was.
Light used his inspection skill again when he saw what happened:
[Tier 4 Mutant Tank Zombie
A rather stupid but very tough zombie, the rest is up to you user].
As Light read the system window, he saw that the system was mocking him, and then he blurted out a bewildered "What the fuck?" and then pointed at the zombie named [tank] and shouted "TURN THE GUNS ON THIS ZOMBIE!!!’"
Some of the troops turned directly towards the tank zombie and began firing.
However, the zombie was not taking any damage, which meant that Light had to deal with it himself. He was physically engaged with a Tier 3 zombie and had even managed to avoid the attacks of a Tier 5 mutant zombie and push it back.
Which meant he had to be brave now.
He put his weapon in his inventory and then opened his system profile and pressed the 6 skill points in his hand to the Strength stat.
Now his strength stat had passed 40 points, which meant that his skill could now be taken to the next level.
Light’s whole body started to writhe in aches and pains, but he managed to maintain his position in the way he was used to.
Just then, the system window he was waiting for formed in front of him.
