A Regressor's Guide to the Frozen Apocalypse -
Chapter 86: [Utopia]
Chapter 86: [Utopia]
The group saluted Light as he and Jack, followed by Light, came up to the rest of the group and Charles and his soldiers who were on guard duty.
"Charles, I want you to tighten the guard, something is wrong, I’m sure Jack can feel it too. Red sun...something is wrong," Light suddenly said.
Even if Charles and the fifty or so soldiers around him were surprised by his warning, the order still had to be carried out.
They knew that Light had never been wrong so far, that’s why, as fast as possible, the combat equipment was checked, and the watch times were changed and updated.
Light didn’t know what was wrong, but all he knew was that they had to be ready.
When he had telephoned Newtown, he had told Leonard and Kyle to check the electric fences and the other special situation areas, they had to be ready for anything.
There was no fog in the air, it was snowing, but the red sun itself was still visible, though it was an incredibly weak light.
"Jack, get ready, you have to be ready to protect people in case of trouble," Light said suddenly.
Jack nodded as soon as he heard those words and then called his zombies to him, saying, "Yes, brother." as Light wanted to be called.
Light then started walking towards the gate and left the compound, or Utopia with its new name. He started to look around quickly.
There were no trees around, Light and his subordinates had cut down many trees, and it was obvious that these trees, already dead from the cold, would only pose a danger to the group. So this was something that had to be won anyway, at least the dead trees could be used as close.
That’s why Light had started looking for traces, the weakening of the red sun worried him, the possibility that the mutation and maybe the virus itself coming from the red sun was real was driving him crazy.
After all, if this was true and Light thought it was, one wrong step and the red sun would become stronger again, and all mutated creatures would become stronger.
Light couldn’t handle it with his current strength, there was no way. Like literally no way.
That’s why he had to scout around, after all, if there were zombies around, and especially if there were mutant zombies in strange shapes hiding in the snow, he had to destroy these dangers now.
He didn’t have the constitution to handle a direct evolution of the mutation by getting stronger again. Neither he nor Utopia could handle it.
Nevertheless, after almost an hour of frantic trail searching, he still had not found any trace. There was nothing on the snow except his footprints.
That was why Light had gone back to Utopia and then told Charles and the others that he had found nothing. Still, there was no harm in being prepared, he had made the full decision briefly. Anything approaching one of the gates now would be killed.
That was why there were almost a hundred soldiers stationed behind the first electric fence.
After the first electrified fences, places for the soldiers to rest were built at every turn, precisely so that no one would be hurt or, worse, die of cold during a change of guard.
Nevertheless, Light rallied the people and said to them:
"At a meeting with the leaders of the settlement, we realised that we wanted to give this settlement a name. We used to be few and there was no need for it, but now we are one big family. Every day people are trying to learn more and more carefully about other people’s abilities, we have become a huge community of only good-hearted people."
Of course, there was no meeting, just a conversation between Light, Petunia, Pacifica, Elise and Lawrence that lasted maybe five minutes, but who cares? A decision had been reached, after all.
"Everything will be prepared, soon each of you will learn to fight, we will be able to protect ourselves from outside forces, and better yet, we will be able to protect ourselves against mutant zombies. Dear group, dear people, believe me, I will not let any of you die, and if any of you are harmed, I will do my best to give hell to the one who harmed you!!!"
With Light’s words, it was evident that the bodies of every person in the crowd were trembling, it was normal for every one of them to be excited.
"After this meeting, we were able to realise that even in such a shitty world, even in such a shitty apocalypse, a settlement where good-hearted people can live together, where even sins are not committed! In short...Utopia!!!"
As soon as Light’s words were over, the sound of applause and shouts began to rise behind the crowd. At this moment, apart from the number of a hundred soldiers, 400 people were listening to his words, each of them was incredibly grateful to Light and everything he wanted would happen.
It was as if every one of them had been brainwashed. The level of trust in Light was unbelievable. Light was no different from a state hero in people’s eyes, it was as if people had begun to worship him.
Even if he didn’t realise it now, the name of the [Utopia] settlement would resonate not only in Powys, not even in the United Kingdom, but all over Europe.
The United Kingdom, which was directly connected to many places, still had many high-ranking soldiers alive, even if the government had collapsed directly, not partially, it was still possible that connections still existed.
Light would become more powerful in the future, and even if he didn’t know it, the name of the great [Utopia] settlement and the [Scavengers] group that ruled it would echo everywhere.
A huge group, valuable, able to fight well and defend well.
This was the day the cornerstone of Utopia was laid.
